Phantasy Star Online 2′s Next Update Features Player Doppelgangers

Sega are ready to talk about the next Phantasy Star Online 2 update, which will hit in January. This is the second part of the “Where Darkness Gathers” update and you can watch a trailer for it below, followed by a rundown of the major additions that it will bring to the game.

 

 

The major addition that the new update will bring is a feature titled “Abduction x Clone”. As part of this, if certain conditions are met, your Camp Ship is attacked by Darkers and transported to an area called the Darkers’ Den. You then have to fight your way out while facing a large number of Darkers along the way.

 

 

Additionally, it’s also possible, under certain conditions, that the Darkers will create doppelgangers of PSO2 players that you’ll have to fight as well. This is described as an emergency quest, and if you’re able to defeat a doppelganger of yourself or one of your friends, you’ll be rewarded with a good item drop.

 

Finally, the lobby in the game will transform to celebrate the new year. This change will be in effect from January 1st – 23rd. Meanwhile, the rest of the update will go into effect on January 9th.
