Professor Layton’s Final Adventure Puts The Layton Team In An Airship

By Ishaan . January 10, 2013 . 12:10pm

Level 5 have released a new trailer for Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies, which is supposedly Layton’s final adventure and looks like quite the step up from previous games. Watch it above.

The game begins with Layton receiving a mysterious letter claiming a living mummy has been discovered, following which Layton and his team make for the Arctic. There, they find a girl encased in ice, and after freeing her, take control of an airship as they go around solving the mysteries of ancient civilizations.

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies will be released in Japan on February 28th. A release date for North America and Europe hasn’t yet been announced.

Layton solves the mystery of ALL ICE and ICE-9?

Still disappointed that all those stories about ALL ICE was just for nothing.

Jesus, the production values in these games are just ridiculous. This absolutely looks and sounds beautiful. I would expect nothing less from the sendoff title in one of the most polished franchises in contemporary video games.

And yet, even when I’m expecting a trailer to look and sound amazing, that doesn’t make it less affecting when it is. The stubborn continued reliance on the accordion for these main themes has become as much of a signature sound as the ocarina is for Zelda games.

Final Adventure? Ahahaha ha, sure thing. Its not like this series prints money or anything. I greatly look forward to this game and any future installments that are sure to come.

I’ve developed a fetish for Violins and Harmonicas thanks to Level-5.

I’m… not sure “fetish” is the word here, but point taken. Speaking of instruments, I also like Gust’s wind-based tracks.

Well, fetish means fixation, so I guess it would be appropriate. Though, there is object fetishism, but that’s a tale for another page.

Oh I’m so excited for this game. Airship? That’s so amazing. 8D

Layton driving an airship in a globetrotting adventure, awesome. His new enemy looking like he’s an evil movie director, slightly less awesome but still- it’s Layton. I can still dig it.

It still saddens me that I missed out on some of the games for the DS… Hopefully Level-5 release a Layton bundle or something. I would gladly buy that, even if it included the games I already have.

Beautiful trailer.. wish I have a Jpn XL, the original too small to enjoy Layton games.. hope it gives 3 save slots this time like the US ver.. still haven’t finished Devil’s Flute and Miracle Mask yet, so behind.. I like the Eng. title better.. like artefacts in FF13-2 were called O-parts.. also this is a much better cover than the last Jpn one w/ only Layton pointing in a white background, so lazy..
