Studio Pierrot To Produce KAIO: King of Pirates Anime

By Ishaan . January 15, 2013 . 8:30am

As previously reported, KAIO: King of Pirates will see an anime series in 2013. Now, Marvelous AQL have announced the production house behind the anime—Studio Pierrot, as reported by Anime News Network.

What else have Pierrot worked on? A whole lot of shows you’re likely familiar with, including Yu Yu Hakusho, Saiyuki, Flame of Recca, Ninja Robots, and of course, Naruto.

In addition to the anime series, KAIO will also see a manga series this year, as well as the videogame adaptation that the manga and anime are based on.

        i dont think so

Hopefully they utilize their awesome mix of 2D and 3D CG skills from Kingdom currently airing this season and through half of 2012, for this, as it looks like it’d go well with this style of source material.

  • Neophoton

Is it going to air during the summer or fall season? Doubting spring.

  • PABLO Rapetti Perez

One can only hope that the videogame and related properties will live up to the hype they sure are building around Kaio: King of Pirates.

Can we get some gameplay tho?

First a manga now an anime? Damn they’re pimping this game out aren’t they?

  • Pedro Tavares

Trying to pull a level 5 Studio Pierrot seems fine if they want tro make a cutesy anime.

  • SetzerGabbiani

Hopefully it won’t be that long of a series where studio pierrot starts using sh*t animation like they use for Naruto sometimes.

“Hey KAIO, you look kinda cool”

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    yeah great……… game play?

  • The Samurai Pizza Cats and Eto Rangers vibes are strong in this one.

Feels like one knows more about the sideprojects than the actual game, so I’ll just hope Inafune knows what he’s doing with the game… also I ask because I’m not too bright at the moment, is this a promotion still from the anime (meaning it will be an entirely 3D-animated show) or is it from one of the games cutscenes?

Also also, that’s a pretty… “breezy” outfit for something in a kids show. Me thinks we may have another Gadget Hackwrench/Krystal the Fox-level enabler of furry fandom in little boys and girls on our hands…
