  • That moaning at the beginning…..I was almost disappointed that it didn’t continue, almost~

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      oh behave :3

Zappa’s Seiyuu sounds strangely familiar Kappa.

    • Aoshi00

Yeah, I wonder who Zappa’s seiyuu is, sounds like Ishikawa Hideo or Okiayu Ryoutarou.. hope the US ver would have dual track, if not I would import like Lollipop Chainsaw or No More Heroes.. This lady (Vivian, his boss) is even hotter than Sylvia :) they might give her a British accent or something.. the other girl is cute too…

      • z_merquise

Funny that my brother instantly said that Mondo’s voice sound like Byakuya (Ryoutaro Okiayu) but it doesn’t seem like him I think.

And I read that Vivian is British and the other girl, Mika Takekawa, is Japanese, obviously.

        • Aoshi00

Yeah, sounds a bit like Byakuya or Itachi (Auron in FFX) but deeper, wonder if it’s either of them, their voices sound similar.. I know, her Eng. voice would probably sound sexy like Bayonetta :) I wasn’t too crazy about Sylvia’s French accent.

          • Belenger

It’s definitly Okiayu no doubt about, about the gasping…. could be Ayako Kawasumi, wild guess there from just two gasping sounds…., and Okiayu pretty much pulls the voice he used in Jojo Part 5 as narrator.

      • Alberto Maytorena

At some moments reminds me of Hikaru Midorikawa.

  • Spirit Macardi

Tons of blood? Weird as hell characters? Overly-sexualized women?

    Yup, it’s a Suda51 game! :D

    • Blitz Krieg

A shame if it ends being another Style Over Substance mediocre action game, Suda’s speciality.

    • puchinri

Which, I love NMH for being zany, bizarre and for having characters that were weird as hell, but I actually appreciated that the female cast was not entirely just sexualized and that they weren’t just stereotypical, lady tropes. I feel like his female characters have devolved a bit since then, so it’ll be interesting to see how this goes on that part.

I’m also wondering how outlandish this will be in comparison to the NMH titles as well as the last two titles.

  • Jordan Coleman

Yes. This looks great. This is what I look for in Japanese games. Such awesome style.

  • Go2hell66

Loving what i see so far, subtitles hinting at an english release maybe?
although fairly confident this game will come over like the suda games

    can’t wait to see more!

    • If I remember right the game was announced for worldwide release since the first time they showed it.

      • Go2hell66

        well thats good to hear

  • MrRobbyM

This looks amazing. It’s got everything that makes a Suda game minus the cheesy one-liners! I’m hyped.

  • z_merquise

Now that looked so stylish. I’m now excited for this game.

Mondo Zappa. Grasshopper sure likes unusual names for their protagonists.

  • Shadowman

This game looks so boss I want it know! Gimme, gimme!

  • Take all of my love and all of my money. My body is ready.

  • Zarx

Damn, that art style works insanely well with the carnage going about….so beautiful.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Sex, swagger, and swords! I like these ingredients very much. Will the end result be rich and tasty or bitter and bland…?

  • Curan_Altea

Damn. That trailer looked awesome. And they chose great music for it.
Looking forward to this one, and I haven’t even seen gameplay really.

    • Aoshi00

I always like classical being rearranged in games.. it totally reminded me of Asura’s Wrath :)

      • That might be due to it being pretty much the same as it was in Asura’s Wrath.

        • Aoshi00

Exactly what I was trying to say :) both Asura’s Wrath and Killer is Dead used it and sounded epic.

          • MediaMindControl

I was just playing Asura’s Wrath, before I checked Sili, and bam, yeah that has got to be the same song!

  • DesmaX

Oh well, I’ buying this on release.

Just that art makes thia game worth a try

  • Kris

Hmmm… Let’s hope this plays better than some of Suda51’s other action games. :P To be honest, so far it doesn’t look any better than Lollipop Chainsaw or NMH, but there’s still time.

It does have style though, and Mondo Zappa is a great name! I love how musically inspired Suda’s stuff is. It looks like he’s going to be playing things a little straighter this time, kind of like Killer7. I’m glad to see that, since I’ve gotten a tad tired of his parodic stuff.

  • Muffum

On one hand, I liked most everything about the trailer. The premise is intriguing, the graphics have a unique visual flair that I love, and the gameplay looks promising from what we saw.

On the other, that remix of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9. Why would anyone do that.

    • puchinri

Haha. I kind of felt that way too, but I don’t know why. I don’t know, maybe I love Dvorak too much and hold him too sacred (it did sound pretty good though).

  • Natat

Aaaaaa the cel shading too gooooood!

  • l777l

The suit looks good. I’m interested.

  • Kevin Lor

Looks awesome! Reminds me of No More Heroes

  • TruSpindash

Looks really good! It seems like it really is a mix of the game play of No More Heroes and the style of Killer7. Also, I love the music they used in the trailer.

  • ndjn3979

    Me gusta~~

  • OkamiKing

    How they got me

    1. I hear Dvorak
    2. That style
    3. That dash
    4.That attitude

I now want to buy/play this game

  • Bureibah

I wonder if Suda51 would ever make a game comparable to the level of quality as Killer7. Seems ever since NMH1, its been the same style, and same lack of depth in storyline.

Well the reason for such is obvious, and admitted in NMH2 through Travis: (something along the lines of) “nobody cares about story/story doesn’t sell”. Ever since playing NMH2, I lost all respect for the guy. Not only has he sold himself out for the sake of more sales, but I find his words spoken through Travis to be of him simultaneously lamenting his change while seeking justification for it. And to do so through a character and not directly is cowardly.

If you choose a new path, don’t look back wanting to turn around while still walking forward…or I’m just placing too much emphasis on things. :)

    • TheDarkEmpress

From what I’ve read from other sources Suda51 hasn’t been directly involved with his games since NMH1. NMH2, Shadows of the Damned, and Lollipop Chainsaw didn’t have his direct involvement. I believe there’s quite a few articles to support this. Supposedly this game is getting his full attention. He didn’t intend for a sequel to NMH1 either, that’s why the second wasn’t as inspired as it could’ve been, and again, it didn’t have his full involvement.

      • Fr33Kingdom

So shadows of the damned was all mikami and grasshoper? Fantastic game anyway.

    • Blitz Krieg

What the fuck am i reading? IGN?

  • Detrimont

still dont know whether i like the art style or not

  • Watch the trailer without know anything about this game and a few seconds in I was already willing to bet my organs that Suda51 was involved

  • Calintz YT

    Take my money now!

  • Gildohma

    Christian Bale is that you??

  • Is this what Platinum fans feel like when they announce a new game? Grasshopper, I love you. This looks amazing.

  • Nitraion

Hope they work on gameplay more..

Suda51 always have pleassing eyecatcing nice looking graphic (phew)

    But gameplay always lacking something…

    • z_merquise

Well yeah, most of their games had flaws whether it’s a bad game design decision or bugs but I still enjoy it and I think the gameplay parts in their recent get better.

No More Heroes 2 is way better than 1, gameplay-wise. Shadows of the Damned is very fun too. Lollipop Chainsaw’s combat felt very rough but it gets better once you start unlocking more moves. Even Liberation Maiden is also fun with its fast-paced, arcade-style gameplay.

      • Nitraion

Haha i love shadow of the dammed too….

My problem for suda51 game is their game always give me stiff feeling i dunno … i just want they fix that stiff feeling maybe if they combine the graphic with platinum style of combo it will be awesome..

and yeah bugs also as you said, maybe on loading time too

also come on give the MC gore dead too… they always give boss gore death but on MC its soo lame death come on suda51… XD

        • z_merquise

I think most game developers don’t give their action heroes gory deaths when they got killed by enemies.

Only action game that I can think of where the protagonists get gruesome deaths are the Resident Evil games.

          • Nitraion

Even RE stop doing gore death after 4 ~~

            I don’t like taking sides….

I think all game that made with element gore, survival, horror or what ever element that they proclaimed to be mature and scary should give… a gore death to MC XD

            VIVA GORE DEATH…
I mean there is no point right if player that nearly be killed on health bar not struggle and just give in on to death, they will be willing to survive more to see it didn’t happend to their MC… yeah classic feeling :P

          • benhofb

In Killer 7 your characters were shown as just a decapitated head whenever you died.

      • Blitz Krieg

        >I think the gameplay parts in their recent got better.

        That is correct.

However he still has a loooooooong way to go before he can make a hack n slash even nearly the same league as Ninja Gaiden Black, God Hand or DMC, or at least DMC4 and Bayonetta level.

And the thing is, he doesn’t really NEED to improve the combat mechanics because his games sell mostly due their visual style.

I got more faith in Valhalla Games, assuming they don’t go bankrupt before releasing Devil’s Third because Tomonobu spent the budget on hookers.

        • MediaMindControl

I wouldn’t like NMH as much if it was another DMC clone. Although smoother turning and maneuvering would be nice, for the most part the game has personality because of the zaniness. Not to mention that NMH came out for the wii and the controls felt fine and the gameplay was fun. I think the ps3 version without move isn’t a smooth transition.

    • Isn’t this his schtick though? It became clear he is aware of it in games like Flower Sun and Rain for instance. It would be nice to see “excellent” gameplay design (though personally I am enjoying lollipop chainsaw so far!) but the cult-like appeal to the concepts and gameplay is what draws me in.

I guess it is easier to just say “please be fun”… IDK

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Bad feeling we might have to use PS move and Kinect

    • Luna Kazemaru

they don’t force you it will most likely be the same when NMH came out

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

More wii-mote action, when you play NMH you become a jedi assassin. sorry bad joke

  • Wake

This feels like a Tarantino movie. This is going to be awesome.

  • And the The Japanese Tarantino of games is at it again! this looks hella sweet.

  • Lester Paredes

Artstyle is very interesting. However, Suda51 games are hit or miss when it comes to gameplay. Here’s hoping it stacks up.

  • omeganeko

    hype level rising

  • amagidyne

Hmm, going to wait and see on this one. Lollipop Chainsaw’s gameplay is so bad it actually makes me kind of angry, and I don’t buy games for the art style alone anymore. Not since El Shaddai.

Executive director, eh? That is telling.

  • GVmanX

Can I just go ahead and mail Grasshopper a check so they can send me the game directly?

  • Looks like another winner from Suda 51. Cannot wait to see it in its full version and get my hands on it. Very excited for this game.

Oh and I love the voice work. So good! Especially Zappa’s voice.

  • XiaomuArisu

Damn….Another game for my buy list.

  • Darkrise

I think I saw Destroyman lol. But daaaaaaamn! That was an awesome trailer! Smooth-looking gameplay with tons of blood and amazing cell-shading has won me over completely

  • Ty Arnold

Looks, to me, a lot like a No More Heroes game, but in a more Killer7-like setting.

    I approve.

  • Sergio Briceño

I wonder if you will be able to kill anybody from No More Heroes in this game. Ok, maybe not kill, but at least fight.

  • Demeanor

Absolutely fantastic presentation!!! Although it’s still too early to talk about the gameplay or story. I freakin’ LOVED the music, the character, dat sigh!, the scenes, the action, dat music some more, the movements, the surreal atmosphere, killer7-style. Really, I feel the gaming world is getting better and better! :D

  • puchinri

Hmm. A little mixed. I’m excited, but not? It does look like a Suda game, and it looks pretty, but I still felt lost while looking at it sometimes.

  • Göran Isacson

I would really like Mondo Zappa to be a mix between Francis York and Garcian Smith. Smooth and suave and restrained, but with a ton of strange and bizarre mannerisms that makes everyone around him wonder if the Executioner is really all there in the head. As for the game… well it sure LOOKS interesting, and the many-armed lady has got my interests piqued.

  • MediaMindControl

Looks visually striking, and exactly what I’ve been waiting for… More Suda 5ICHI! Finally more news on this one. Really like all the characters ever since killer 7, and I feel I can identify with them more than many other Main Characters. Strangely Mondo looks a lot like me. The glasses and everything up to the robotic weaponized arm. well, okay, maybe not that part.

  • Istillduno

Skipped on lolipop chainsaw since I’m not really a fan of fanservice being shoved in the players face constantly, but this looks like a nice return to form definately looking forward to it.

  • American character ver ninja gaiden?
