We Asked Xseed About Their Killer Is Dead Web Domains

By Ishaan . January 22, 2013 . 3:56pm

Earlier today, a report revealed that Xseed might be the U.S. publisher of Grasshopper Manufacture’s next game, Killer Is Dead. A week ago, Xseed registered a bunch of web domains pertaining to the game.

We got in touch with Xseed to see if they had any comment, and the publisher’s Executive Vice-President, Ken Berry, replied: “Xseed Games cannot confirm that they are publishing Killer is Dead in North America.”

Killer Is Dead hasn’t been formally announced for a U.S. release yet. Japan will get the game this summer.

    They “can’t” confirm… Indeed, there’s always a HINT before the announcement :p

  • Tales_of_Master

“Xseed Games cannot confirm that they are publishing Killer is Dead in North America.”
    Yeah sure you can’t XD

    • MediaMindControl

The underlying statement is that “we are planning to but cannot confirm that we will.” Otherwise why even say we cannot confirm, without pressing the issue.

  • Wake

I can just feel him winking while making that statement.

  • ffboi7

Oh Xseed we know you bring it here :D

  • revenent hell

If this game wasnt so James Bond like id probably buy it in a split second but given how it looks and how obviously Bond like it is…..Im going to pass on this, sorry Xseed I love you but not enough to buy a game I wont play.

    • puchinri

What part of the Bond-ness is off-putting? I honestly can’t care for the series/franchise, so I would be turned away, but I’m guessing/hoping that Suda51 and GHM will be breaking and subverting Bond tropes rather than invoking them in full.

      • revenent hell

For me its the “Feel” of the game. It has nothing to do with Bond himself or how the movies play out but watching the vids of it made me feel like I was watching a Bond film.
Its verry off putting in that respect. I hated watching the films and this brought me right back to that time. The atmosphere in the game 100% reminds me of that cheesey stupidness I found in the movies. This sounds bad but god I hated those movies.

    • anarchy_panty

It seems much more influenced by exploitation cinema (like most of Suda’s work) than Bond, if you ask me.

      • revenent hell

True as this may be,and I do like the overall style but certain aspects of how the charecters come across and feeling it gives me does indeed remind me of Bond films.
Everything else seems like id genuinely like it but overall passing that particular hump wiould be incredibley hard for me.

    • AkuLord3

Yeah how can we forget James Bond fighting with a Katana and absorbing blood so he can use his Gun/Drill Arm. Oh well

      • MediaMindControl

woa didn’t see your comment. it’s just like the one I had posted seconds ago LOL well done.

      • revenent hell

Yeah because its all about a katana and mechanicle arm.
Apparently the “feel” of a game means nothing to anyone.
Yes my sole impressions of the game stem from its scifi aspect and katana who knew I couldnt get a feel of anything else!
The game totally has no atmosphere other than the above two mentioned things.

      • Kitestwinblades

        (°□°) … ( °∀°) I godda start watching James Bond movies now!

    • MediaMindControl

You let me know when James bond has a mechanical weaponized arm and spits his demonic enemies heads, decapitating them with a glowing katana. I imagine Octopussy was pretty close to that. I guess I see your point, they do both wear suits.

    • salvapot

Wait… Bond like? I am more interested now!

    • Syn

Wait wha???James Bond??? Ummmmmmm, okay, dont know what bond movies youve been seeing but clearly it must be that ave missed out on a great Bond movie somewhere along the line. One with Katana’s, robot armed james bond, giant badguys and it was animated.

      • revenent hell

Yes because as I said above those are the sole things I notice when I watched the videos.
Theres no such thing as atmosphere and theres certainly no feeling a person can get by viewing a vid other than it has a mechanicle arm and katana.

After he replied with that statement I think Ishaan should’ve asked “So was that a yes sir”? With a troll look on his face lol =P

  • Marcelo Gouvea

“We can’t negatively confirm whether or not we are making this positively negative claim regarding this or some other subject”.

  • http://twitter.com/matty_125 matty

Well, of course they can’t confirm right now. Otherwise, it could end up like what happened to Murumasa X3

    • Mar Mar

What happened to Muramasa? Wait don’t tell me the same thing will happen to the upcoming Vita version?!?!?!?

  • Nicolas Vasquez

yeah, this is the first answer in “PR 101″.

  • Nicolas Vasquez

yeah, this is the first answer in “PR 101″.

  • Go2hell66

    oh gosh wrong thread XD

  • Lazulis

I cannot confirm that I will buying this day 1. ;)

  • RadShiro

“Xseed Games confirm that they are publishing Killer is Dead in North America.”

WHOOPS, I accidentally took out one word.

  • brian yep

I think that actually did indirectly confirm it, since normally if companies get asked that and it actually is a “no” answer, then they really do deny it.
This is a pretty impressive acquisition.

  • Learii

    xseed ftw
