Bayonetta 2 Development Is Going Well, Here’s A Developer Video

By Ishaan . January 23, 2013 . 6:40am

The development of Bayonetta 2 is going well, says Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, but PlatinumGames and Nintendo aren’t ready to talk about the game just yet. However, they did show off this brief development clip, showcasing development quotes from the team:

Additionally, Iwata revealed that he visited PlatinumGames recently and asked about the background of the studio’s Tatsuya Minami and Atsushi Inaba. An Iwata Asks feature detailing their talk will be published soon.

Really nice that we see more news on this game after the fiasco that happen during the game first announcement. Can’t wait to play this game.^_^

  • Samurai_Heart

Such a tease that video XD

    • Yeah XD I can’t decide who did a better job of teasing, the developers or Bayonetta herself :3

Seriously though, it’s been a long time since I was this hyped simply just going off what the developers have to say about the next game. They sure have a way with words…

    • Clifford Pierre Louis

your comment and avatar go well together :P

  • Yes I want touch you Bayonetta!!!

  • Robert Hendrie

So does sega still has a part in this game…? or is their name just in the trailer because they published the first game?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

They still own the franchise here. Nintendo just co-op to fund the game here.^_^

  • Go2hell66

    what no gameplay!?!?

  • DemonKingAsura

Heh, Fighting the First Boss feels like fighting the last one.

Maybe the prologue will be a flashback fight to the fight with Jubileus from 1? It would be epic as hell.

  • $39420547

i really want gameplay but we can’t have it all at once :)

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Well Monolith Soft’s new JRPG really has me considering dropping some cash for a Wii U. If Nintendo can somehow get B1 on the system, then I’ll bite and hop aboard the Wii U/B2 train as well.

There’s a Sega logo at the end. I thought Sega was done with the franchise? Or am I wrong? Ninty is still the publisher right?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Sega still own the franchise there. It is just that it seems Sga partner with Nintendo to come out with the second Bayonetta.(Nintendo giving some of their moneys.^_^)

    • DemonKingAsura

Sega Merely owns the IP, they are not doing much with the games Development anymore.

If the game does well enough, I’d say Platinum should just leave Sega and take their IP’s with them and move to Nintendo.

  • i could watch her walk FOREVER.

    • Peace Legacy

A 10 hours loop of that would indeed be possible, any youtubers here are willing to fulfil this man’s dream?

  • Going to be a great game. The development team seems to know exactly what they want and how they want Bayonetta 2 to be like. Loved the first one and this one will probably be no exception either. =^_^=

  • keithmaxx

Would it be a crime to not have played Bayonetta yet by now? Having seen that trailer just made me crave for this game… Oh Platinum Games (+Nintendo), you tease us so.

    • Anime10121

Yep, it is actually a capital one offence to have not played Bayonetta 1 by now. The game is so much awesome that you shall henceforth be sentenced to community service. Wanna know what your Community service consists of? PLAYING BAYONETTA :P

  • Anime10121

Looks Freking BEAUTIFUL so far! Cant wait, even though it’ll probably be a 2014 release (hopefully early 2014), this is one of the main reasons I have a Wii U, and so far its looking freken gorgeous!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    yes I do

  • MrJechgo

I might get thumbed down for this, but there are things that I wish they could tune from the first one:

    – Lesser loss of magic orbs when hit on Normal difficulty: make it no orb lost at very easy, 1 orb lost at easy, 2 orbs lost at normal, 4 orbs lost at hard and 8 orbs lost at very hard/NSIC mode. I know that I should “learn to dodge better”, but I really think that the price for missing a dodge is too heavy on normal and that it should be lower to 2 orbs instead of 4.

    – More weapon setups: having only 2 setups was lacking, make it 3 or 4.

    – Exclusive weapon use: have some enemies weak to some weapons, have puzzles use certain weapons, have weapons with special properties, like the whip to disarm opponents and pick up their weapons sooner.

    – Accessories as rewards or found items: just don’t make them all buyable for crying out loud, not everyone is willing to hoard 100,000 halos to get an accessory when more health, more magic, items, new moves and upgrades are more important to buy than accessories.

    – Each enemy should have at least one attack that can trigger witch time if dodged: Some enemies didn’t trigger witch time at all, like Gracious and Glorious. The game states that good dodge timing triggers witch time, but in the first game some enemies didn’t trigger it no matter how good you dodge.

    Liking her new pants.

  • Yes, I want to touch you. Thanks for asking, but I don’t think I’m getting a Wii U anytime soon just for you D:

  • Happy Gamer

Wii U is just looking better and better this summer

  • They are using the angels from the first that didn’t make it into the game………………….i hope they make that indian elephant rider angel that was in the eyes of bayonetta artbook

  • Too badi waslooking forward to a multiplatform release

    • J_Joestar

Maybe when Nintendo isn’t footing the bill on the game’s production.

  • When they can’t show off gameplay after 4 months, it generally means development is NOT going well. They don’t even have an approximative release window either.
