Konami have released a new batch of screenshots for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, which is slated for release this March in North America and Europe. The game takes place between Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Lords of Shadow 2, which is planned for release later this year.

You can read our hands-on impressions of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate in this previous report.

2.5D, well, at least it is not 3D and has some of the aspects i love in the DS castlevania games, though i would love to see that same pixelartstyle 2D style on the 3DS, it looked brilliant on the old hardware, it would be interesting to see that style with the better console.

Will this game be featured in the e-shop on release?

It is sad being undead in Castlevania universe lol. It is like they exist only to get whipped by the Belmonts lol.^_^

how many 3d castlevanias are there that fails? all of them! dosent konami notices this pattern? all 2d castlevanias are 9-10/10 I think a 3d castlevania at best it ever got was a 8 poorly imitating bayonetta’s play style. there is too much 3d competition. they need to stick to 2d if they want my money.

3D Castlevanias poorly imitating Bayonetta? The PS3 game is ripping off God of War and Shadow of the Colossus. God of War rips off Lament of Innocence’s style, and refines it. It’s copying itself indirectly.

The 64 games were also before Bayonetta, though, I haven’t played them.

Contrary to popular belief, Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness scored well in many reviews… I remember seeing 9s, personally (and how the hell is an 8 anywhere near bad, either?) Even the N64 games got reviews from mediocre to great, and I know many Castlevania fans who found a lot to like about them, even remember them fondly (I think the main problem was the controls, but if you could get used to them there was no problem). I loved all of those old 3D castlevanias, personally.

But I agree, Castlevania has been the best in 2D, and I want a new 2D, HD Castlevania. I’d love for just an HD remake of another classic Castlevania like Rondo, SotN, or even the NES ones. After Order of Eclessia, the Wii remake of Castlevania Adventure (ReBirth) has been the best thing Castlevania has had going for it (imo), I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The only way the Bayonetta comment makes any sense is if it’s only referring to Lord of Darkness… but even then, pretty much everyone else has related the game to being a GoW wannabe, never anything to do with Bayonetta.

None of the 3D castlevanias are really bad. CcOD is quite good. LOI is decent and what GOW it’s combat from. LOS is really a good game and is much more like the series 1-4 before it got turned into a glam rock series with SOTN. N64 game really just suffered from bad camera work and early days of 3D but had elements in it from the classic series. People forget CV existed before SOTN.

I’m a castlevania fan, heck i even own castlevania X on the saturn, and I wonder how many of you actually do. But I have to stand up, and when crappy products are being released i do not protect it, i expose it in hopes that they will get it right again. N64 castlevania were really bad, no reason to defend it. Castlevania HD did great, it even did so well on 360 that after was released on the ps3… it had its 2d glory. Some games belong 3d and some belong 2d… seems like the identity disorder also occurs on video games.

I just want to know how the game progresses, really…

I mean, is it like Castlevania 3 with there being several stages? Do enemies respawn, or once you kill, let’s say, two bats from one room there’s nothing more to do in there?

Maybe I just didn’t read carefully the news we got, but this is what I actually would like to know in order to decide if I should purchase it or not =/

Caption for the first screen: Belmont; Am sorry my love…..but I must leave you to slay all of your kin, should I slay you inadvertently, know that in my heart I could not tell you apart from the others……….*walks away a few feet*
