A while ago, @Gamer magazine reported that Lex Luthor and Bane would be part of the selectable roster in DC crossover fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. While Bane hasn’t officially been announced yet, Lex has, and makes an appearance in the game’s latest trailer:

Injustice: Gods Among Us will be released in April in North America and Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. The game will come in both regular and special editions, which you can read about here.

  • Will Wonder Woman villains make an appearance? I’m not liking the saturation of mainly Batman and Superman villains in any DC medium.

I can’t really blame them though. Especially when it comes to drawing in those outside of the fighting game crowd and especially the comic fan crowd, choosing big names is a good decision. Most are probably only going to care about superman, batman, and the members of the justice league that are highly exposed in movies and cartoons. Not to say that after playing the game those same people won’t enjoy the lesser known/ less popular characters, but the most mainstream ones are sure to draw more people in at least initially. Just look at the cover featuring people that many people are going to be familiar with rather than say Solomon Grundy or even Deathstroke (though teen titans (i know, SLADE) and Arrow may boost his notoriety along with Green Arrow’s). But even as a non-huge comic fan myself (though I do like to scour through the obscure wiki pages) I would like to see a bit more variety.

      • Big names is one thing, but when you keep using the same band of characters, you can’t really call this the “DC Universe”.

        • PacNinja

Very true. Looking back at MVC3, especially on the Marvel side there was a large number of series and franchises represented (I mean who really expected rocket raccoon at the time). A big difference from the xmen-heavy roster from 2. But (and maybe this is just in my imagination), Marvel still seems to give even small amounts of exposure to there lesser known heroes and villains throughout their media, maybe just to get their name out there. DC doesn’t seem to do that as much (speaking outside of printed comics). I remember in Justice League Unlimited, there had to be hundreds of characters that appeared in that series but never uttered a line nor were they ever refereed to by name. I’d love the idea of them putting in more obscure heroes and villains but it might be harder for DC to get past the “Who the hell is this?! Where is Poison Ivy and Two Face?! Man this game sucks.” reactions.than Marvel did with Marvel vs Capcom.

          • They can at least use Circe AND Cheetah. Those two have enough exposure than, say, Steve Trevor? Yeah, I know you might be saying “Who?”. But really, the last time I can say that Circe last appeared outside of comics was in the MMO game, DC Universe Online. She is a legitimate evil in the world! Though, just like Luthor and Joker, is not an Universal threat like Trigon, Darkseid and Brainiac.

          • PacNinja

I’m sure they’re going to include some less than explosively popular and well known characters. I’m pretty sure they confirmed this in an interview. However the questions now are just how many and if they chose the “right ones” to satisfy fans. Of course they’ll never please everyone and at least one character will have to face the accusations of “stealing” the spot of another character, but I’m confident they’ll be able to please many with whoever they have chosen.

            P.S. Cheetah would be neat. (^w^) /

  • Shadowman

Will Raven and Static Shock make a appearance?

    • Raven would be more than fitting in this game! Especially if they use Trigon! Netherrealm really can’t miss the opportunity to use the Demon Lord of Pride himself!

      • Shadowman

That dude! Well he may be fitting to the whole story part of the game.

    • HassanJamal

      Yes static shock :D

  • Spirit Macardi

First it’s revealed that Deathstroke wasn’t voiced by Ron Pearlman, and now it’s shown that Lex Luthor isn’t voiced by Clancy Brown?! That’s just plain unforgivable in my book!

    • Tonton Ramos

And Joker’s Isn’t voiced by……….Oh wait he’s retired from being Joker I understand that.

  • JoJo_649

I know it’s pretty far and almost dreamlike, but the only reason I would buy this game would be Rorschach.

  • Tee Niitris

I already miss The Joker’s old voice. :(
(no one can do it better)

Also, those promo lines sounded like something I’ve heard in like 5 or 10 other stories (I’ve watched too much television in my lifetime).

Hoping for some more ladies and fanfavorites, rather than yet another big name Batman/Superman related characters… hoping, but not expecting.
