It’s weird that a site reporting on Japanese games refers to them by their idiotic American titles. This is Shin Sangoku Musou 7, not Dynasty Warriors 8… I can’t believe Tecmo screwed up the naming so badly, we’re well past the 90′s.

    • OkamiKing

Well… They report more than Japanese games to begin with. Two, this is the Eighth in the series. Shin Sangoku Musou 1 began with the second incorporation of the series which we call Dynasty warriors 2. And for a story of multiple kingdoms which spans well over the course of multiple generations having dramatic conflict for the sake of the land, “Dynasty” Warriors does fit. Then again you could be trolling and I fed into it. Eh. The more you know.

And knowing is half the battle.

Some companies localize title names in English, some don’t. Deal with it, kid.

I actually agree with Bob, whoever localized the musou games, Tecmo Koei America I assume, really screwed up the title names and numbers.

      Examples:
Shin Sangoku Musou 7 as Dynasty Warriors 8
Musou Orochi 2 as Warriors Orochi 3
Shin Hokuto Musou as Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2

But the actual one that bother me the most is Gundam Musou as Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. Very lazy IMO. That’s probably why Capcom stop localizing the Sengoku Basara series since they renamed Sengoku Basara 3 as Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes in the west which totally ignore the first few games and expansions.

      • M’iau M’iaut

Calling something ‘Musou’ in the states will only keep folks away, names need to be approachable. Folks know samurai, warriors and yes to some extent Fist of the North Star. They don’t know Musous They also like to buy recognized brands, which Dynasty Warriors is. It is not like the games are not part of the same family of products.

        • http://twitter.com/SilverMocha Emma Creme

I know what you mean. I just thought the localized titles should at least matched the “numbers” like the Japanese release. That way, it won’t confuse newcomers if they just started the series.

          • Alexander Marquis Starkey

It was either that, or find a new word to tack on to Dynasty Warriors with the release Shin Sangoku Musou. They are all the same series. I mean what could they have placed on Dynasty Warriors instead of calling it Dynasty Warriors 2.

  • Muffum

…Damn it. I had largely been ignoring this game up to this point, but then I saw that trailer, and now I actually want it. I might look into it, but 7 was my introduction to the series, and the whole idea of every character having mostly the same moveset with the same weapon really turned me off.

    • Hinataharem

Dynasty Warriors is a hit or miss series. I wish you had started at like 2 or 3 (my starting point) because the series is reaching a point where there are too many characters now (IMO), that they kinda lose individuality.

    • Zal_Yagun

Going past 7, 7XL to 7 empires, they made a big jump making unique movesets for everyone now, Dynasty Warriors 8 gives the remaining clones unique weapons as well now.
Though the dual weapon system does dumb the uniqueness of every character down a bit.

      • Zal_Yagun

Assuming that this game will have every character from 7 and its side games, this game will have unique weapons and Movesets for all 76+ characters…

        • Ixbran

its been confirmed that every character from DW7 will be returning, and every character now officially has their own move set.

to name some of them off are:
Cao Cao – General Sword: Generates clones for charge attacks, leaving the wilder free to continue attacking opponent while the clone does its own thing

Pang Tong – Wind Fan: A long staff with a fan at the end of it designed to generate tornadoes and gusts of wind during charge attacks

Yuan Shao – Stretch Rapier: Thrust attacks cause a mechanism within the blade to elongate, increasing the weapons range.

Sima Yi – Horse Hair Wisk: A magic weapon that creates fields of gravity to damage enemies, sucking them in and continuously doing damage to them while trapped within the sphere, and exploding when finished.

          and many more.

for more info on what weapons are being included, you should check out the Koei wiki. The Mods understand japanese and are able to post information there from japanese websites.

          • Zal_Yagun

I am aware of the new weapon changes and making them all unique but not of the confirmation of the returning characters. though this does clear up what some of the new weapons actually do..
            thanks

          • Ixbran

your welcome, im glad I could help.

But really, check out the Koei wiki if you ever get curious. we got character pages updated when new designs are released, or when new info is posted online.

  • LunarKnite

Looks like this solidifies another Dynasty Warriors game added to my collection…

  • YoshEE

They is going to be awesome game so far for Dynasty Warriors. If only they announce they are going to be release for the west.

  • Brion Valkerion

Mmmmm that gameplay to musou attacks visual quality was fishy as hell… if the game runs near that fast though, count me in, obvious trailer edits aside.

    • Dick Mountainjoy

I think the Musou attacks have a filter over them.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Everytime i see new Musou series, i always end up giving in and buy the game early even though i know Xtreme Legends or Empire is going to come soon.T_T

It is that inner fanboy for Musou series keep forcing me to get the game.T_T

  • akiko_sakuraba

You really, really shouldn’t translate the title of the song, so that people know the actual title of the song and are able to buy it when it comes out. A translation is acceptable, but at least put the original name first. The original name of the song is “Arashigaoka”.

  • Vyse Legendaire

Folks, I challenge you to make an amazing game and title it “shin Sangokumusou 7″ and put in stores in the USA and make more than 100 copies sales. Complaining about the name for this series is a little bit silly don’t ya think?
