Monster Monpiece Rubs Its Way To 5,000 Downloads

By Spencer . January 30, 2013 . 12:08am

imageWe’re not sure how this compares to other PlayStation Vita titles in Japan, but Monster Monpiece surpassed 5,000 downloads. Compile Heart proudly announced the news in what may be the shortest video game press release ever. We’ll add this to the 27,000 retail units that fans snapped up and say Monster Monpiece has at least 32,000 units sold.

Monster Monpiece is Compile Heart’s first Vita game and it’s different from their usual fare. Instead of being a RPG or adventure game, Monster Monpiece is a card battling game with girl monsters and lots of rubbing. You might want to get a screen protector along with Monster Monpiece.

    Very nicely done.

This game is fun as hell and the LE is almost as delicious as the game.

Glad, to hear that. Thought I was the only one actually enjoying the game ^^. So, what’s your take on the soundtrack?

      • Himiko

It’s pretty fun & quirky. It reminded me a lot of Hyperdimension Neptunia actually, lol. Yourself?

        • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

I think it’s awesome. I fell in love with the soundtrack the moment I heard it. It’s very catchy and I never get tired of it despite hearing the menu and battle themes quite often. I want an OST!

  • malek86

That’s a pretty high download-retail ratio. I guess the shortages must have helped.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Good job for compile heart. Really happy that TCG genre is still alive.^_^

And I think 32k is a good number here as I think CH also does not think that they are going to exceed 10k here.

Playing TCG on a console/handheld is much more convenient (and cheap) than playing TCGs for real. Hope more TCG games come to Vita as the cards look gorgeous on that OLED screen.

I’d love to see that as well, mainly for the reasons you’ve stated. It makes it a viable hobby, albeit a digital one!

  • Elvick

Wish we’d get a localized version of this. I have no desire to rub some ladies being gay and all, but the rest of the game is my speed.

    • almostautumn

Usually I’m all for clamoring for localization, but come on— this game is never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever getting localized and everyone knows it.

      • Elvick

        That’s why it’s a “wish”.

      • CirnoTheStrongest

As soon as you give up, of course it won’t happen. We actually have a chance with Aksys, and it’s going to help that the game is actually selling well

        • almostautumn

Did you see that small tid-bit they had to censor with Mugen Souls to acquire the satisfactory M? You do realize that everything but the actual card game would have to go here, right? Why would anyone even be okay settling with that even?

          • CirnoTheStrongest

Ummm, Mugen Souls got a T. Positive the game could have released with an M uncensored. But NISA was being odd about things with that game.

Aksys did Agarest War 2, with the massaging mini-game which was much more interactive, and probably more suggestive, and had a loli character, with a T, completely uncensored.

  • s07195

I tried the game on my friend’s Vita and it’s actually surprisingly okay.

    Best. Press. Release. Ever.

  • TheExile285

Ok CH…. make a Hyperdimension Neptunia for Vita next…. And then localze it

  • Xerain

Definitely get a screen protector. Despite whatever temptations you may have at the time, please consider the long term consequences of unprotected rubbing with monster girls. It usually results in a lynch mob killing your child.

    • Fitzkrieg

      10/10

  • http://gematsu.com/author/ro-kurorai 浪黒雷 (Roland Gmyrek)

Your description is not quite correct, Spencer. It is an Adventure game including a TCG and monster girl rubbing element ;)
    MonMon even features a world map ( ̄▽ ̄)

5k sold digitally is quite impressive. Congratz to CH. They took a gamble and it paid off.

  • fyi1191

VITA is being revived from the dead! More perverted games please!

  • Aoshi00

I need MonMon! but LE sold out everywhere *.*;;.. nice to see they’re taking full advantage of Vita’s touchscreen and camera w/ MonMon and Photo Kano.. Tales of Hearts.. Muramasa localized too, looks like Vita time again :)

  • Yuriangels

thax god for the vita being region free!

  • Josephl64

Well these are good numbers for a compile heart game, especially a new IP so no wonder they’re happy

  • CirnoTheStrongest

Man…Play-Asia send out the copies already T_T

Can’t wait for this to arrive, though I know I have a long wait…

  • http://twitter.com/ChestnutBowl Chestnut Bowl

Congrats to Compile Heart. Glad it’s doing well for them.

  • gamefreak86

Needs localization. If not import but that would be a long time from now.

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

Good, good. Soon my precious. (Starts rubbing Vita)

  • http://www.flavors.me/ericgornicki Eric Gornicki

I wonder if someone would have the balls to play a “rubbing game” in public! It sounds sooooo embarrassing XD

And I’m not surprised that this game sold well in Japan, since this is exactly the kind of game tha appeals to their weird fetiches.
