Grand Theft Auto V Delayed To September

By Ishaan . January 31, 2013 . 9:55am

Grand Theft Auto V has a delayed release date—Rockstar have announced that they’ll be releasing the game on September 17th, 2013 in North America.

“We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time,” Rockstar say in a message to fans.

GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.”

Grand Theft Auto V will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It will be set in the fictional city of Los Santos and will feature three playable protagonists.

No vita version with ps3 crossplay? Odd. I wonder if this means next gen consoles wont be out in the fall as it doesnt make sense to delay this to then when people will be getting the newer consoles. Darn.

So, looks like this Christmas is gearing up to be a massacre.

  • In other news, multiple games expected to be released in September have been moved to other months. More as this develops.

EDIT: Well, not everyone is scared, it seems.

  • I just can’t get hyped for this game for some reason. I was more excited for Vice City coming to PSN. Think I have open world city fatigue.

Short delay? We’re just now hitting February and they’re adding an additional 4 months to what could have been released in May (AKA 4 months from now)…

“Disappointment” does not even begin to describe what I’m feeling right now… ='(

It’s better to wait a bit longer than to get another Sonic 06′.

    Day 1 for me

    • Day One for my brother, Day whenever he beats it for me.

GTA V is going to be my first GTA game when it comes out. Hopefully the wait will be worth it…kind of disappointing that there’s a delay, but at least GTA V The Last of Us are not on a collision course anymore..which imo, is better for the sales of both games.

Maybe they decided to do a Wii U version :D
*cries tears knowing it is unlikely, despite comments they made concerning a Wii U/PC version*

    • AkuLord3

I kinda don’t see Wii U happening for some reasons but PC verison, i don’t see why they can’t do that especially since Steam has most of the GTA titles

    • RedRocBoy

I was thinking the same about Splinter Cell. (fingers crossed)

  • Eric Harris

I saw this one coming. I mean when has a GTA game slated for spring ever NOT get delayed to the ‘ol popular September?

    • gophinobi

GTA IV was probably the only one, if I remember correctly…

      • Nicolas Vasquez

the new spliter cell had a similar move, and it is speculated it is to release along a version to one of both of the new upcoming consoles.

    • Red Dead Redemption came out in April. LA Noire came out in May. They’re pretty consistent with their spring releases…

edit: sorry you meant gta, not rockstar titles

  • Frank West

It’s not really delayed since they never gave a specific date, just a general time frame.
