Team Ninja have released a version 1.03A patch for Dead or Alive 5 on the PlayStation 3, with an Xbox 360 version of the patch to follow later this month. One of the changes in 1.03A is that Team Ninja have disabled stagger escapes for certain Criticals, in order to make Tag Mode better suited to aggressive play. Here are some of the new combos you can pull off in Tag Mode now:

  • Longer ass beatings unlocked lol. Or shorter because they will probably end the matches quicker XD

@[email protected] oh snap. I like the mila/zack combo the most

Those were pretty cool, but I don’t want DoA5 to gradually turn into TTT2, this is bothering me.

Uh what? These have been in since DOA2. It used to have some pretty crazy stuff and in 3 you had unholdable moves.

To this extent really? Anyways I’m bothered that the decreased health bar is coupled with mids hitting low and an increase in unholdables/counterable moves at least in this case. I’ve never really seen combos THIS extreme prior to 1.03A, and IMO it shouldn’t be that way. They are cool and all no doubt, but TTT2 is basically mind games > juggle > end game because the combos are unstoppable mostly and the health bars decreased quite a bit from 6, so the poor countering is further amplified from T6 where even that had hefty combos. That being said, it these combos are insanely damaging, whereas before the highest damage I’ve seen done with a tag combo was like 40-45% (or at least from what I’ve been exposed to).

Because getting countered with an izuna drop for 75% your hp bar was good in 4?

I’ll never understand how people can complain about combos that do less damage and still people say it’s too much.

          Consider the following.

          It’s 2 on 2, not 1 on 1.

Secondly, in tag 2 you do less damage than in 6.

Rage is more like tekken 5 NORMAL damage.

TBH the combos, excuse me the tag combos look really rough, especially the entering of other characters on the screen. They just teleport in? In Tekken it looks hella smoother and you dont see them disappearing in mid-air. I havent played this DoA, but I plan to pick it up eventually.

Smoother? TTT2 has a very convoluted tag system, DoA5 is much more straightforward and flexible. The characters run on/off screen quickly and they don’t constantly swap without inputting another tag command. Sure they don’t show every frame of them running in/out but that way you aren’t as distracted.
