By Ishaan . February 20, 2013 . 4:57pm

Diablo III is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, Blizzard have announced. “We have painstakingly optimized our control scheme,” Blizzard stated at Sony’s PlayStation Meeting 2013 today.

The game will include a 4-player full screen co-operative mode. More information will be shared at PAX East this year. We’ll bring more news on Diablo III for consoles as it is made available.

does that mean i have to buy diablo 3 again?

    • Sylveria

It’s Activision.. what do you think?

      • Testsubject909

        Let it sink?

edit: I’m personally more interested in seeing a Sacred 3 game.

        edit 2: Or a Torchlight 3.

Nice! Hopefully everything that was wrong with it originally have been worked out.

  • Ben Sylvia

    Well dang.

    didn’t see that coming

Quite a while ago, Blizzard was hiring people with experience developing for consoles. There were rumors of Diablo 3 eventually being ported to the PS3 and possibly 360 and then there were, I think, some official announcement about it, though it got drowned out real quick by other news.

But yeah, I think most people just didn’t see it coming.

Oh lord. That’s the nail in Diablo 3′s coffin as if it wasn’t dead already. There was a reason why Diablo 2 wasn’t on consoles….it wasn’t necessary, and it would’ve rendered “babby’s first gaem” if it DID get ported. What a shame, quite possibly the most disappointing game to ever be released (hype-wise) is now going that much further down the tubes. Wahhh.

  • evilmajikman

Only if I dont have to be constantly tethered to being online.

good news foe those who didn’t played it on pc

    • Sylveria

Yep, now they get to play an always-online game with Sony’s unreliable service.

  • ddh819

    how will it control?

      With a controller perhaps lol

I figured out a way, long ago, on how to control Diablo 2 with the PS Moves, so if I can figure that out on my own, I think you can pause and think on how they’d reconfigure everything for a Dualshock…

Honestly though, when you stop to think, applying a pointer like effect using the PS move removes a lot of problems and potentially frees up the analog stick for a quick select menu instead of being set for movement, though there are ways around that as well when making use of the L1 and L2 buttons.

But yeah. No idea, we’d just be speculating. Wait and see I guess.

      • ddh819

i tried using the Move with the PSN Dungeon Hunter game, and it was less than optimal. The DS3 was better. I was just wondering if they’d enable USB keyboard-mouse control.

I am not sure if it’s going to be much of a hit when D3 is ported to game consoles. I mean, the fever pretty much died down with the PC version (and I bet a lot of people stop playing already for what the end game’s worth).

If the console version doesn’t offer A LOT more (as in more stages, classes, and so on), I don’t think there isn’t much incentive in buying the game again.

I, for one, am tired of playing D3 with the same stages and the same old things hundreds and hundreds of times already.

  • Lazulis

Will PC players be able to play with the PS3 players? I don’t play D3 that much anymore because my laptop’s too old, and I don’t want to bring my desktop to uni. PS3 would be…cool…I…guess?

  • Adol Christin

    Offline mode????

    • Testsubject909

That would mean they’d be removing the auction house from the PS3 version and that the PS3 servers would most likely not meet with the PC version, that isolation would create a method for them to safely let PS3 players play offline without causing any trouble for their auction house that the whole online only fiasco was built around for.

Seriously, remove the auction house and they lose all need to make Diablo 3 an Online Only experience.

      • Adol Christin

I don’t mind that. Just having a offline mode would make it better than the PC version :P

    Two thoughts:

    1) The port of Diablo 1 to PS1 was actually pretty solid.

    2) So if I’m Microsoft, I’m all about trying to announce Torchlight 2 on XBLA for, say, $15… right???

    • Paul ‘Chinny’ Chinn

Diablo 3 will most likely be on Next box as well. This is Activision we’re talking about here. They want everyone on everything.

  • notforsale

Honestly I would be still playing Diablo III if it weren’t for the AH, you can literally get uber equipment that’s below lvl 60 for your characters dirt cheap. If they get rid of it then i might consider buying it.

  • MediaMindControl

Put it on the vita and I might play that again. Still Path of exile has been everything d3 should have been. When one falls another shall rise.

  • Sergio Briceño

Since Watchdogs was already confirmed for current generation consoles and PC (especially PC), this is probably the best announcement I’ve heard of.
