This Week In Imports: Pirates, Vita Price Cut, And Professor Layton

By Spencer . February 25, 2013 . 4:31pm

image Dynasty Warriors 8 makes its debut in Japan on the same week we get Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires. The PlayStation 3 game has a number of tie ups like a theme song from a Japanese guitarist and a 7 UP costume.

Ubisoft will release Risen 2: Dark Waters, Namco Bandai has their "flight action role playing game", and Sony will push PlayStation Vita with a price drop. Vita has a good selection of software too with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus, Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, and Phantasy Star Online 2 from Sega.

brutal legend on pc came out of nowhere for me.

  • FetusZero

Phantom Breaker.. man I wish it was on PSN rather than XBLA so I could play with a decent d-pad. Oh well, XBLA it’ll be!

    • Aoshi00

W/ the new transformable d-pad, it’s really not bad at all, it feels much better to play games like Scott Pilgrim, Puzzle Fighter, or Catherine on the 360 now, the old d-pad was definitely not that good for 2D games.

Not sure if I would get this cute beat them up yet, since I wasn’t too crazy about Phantom Breaker (don’t even know if we’re even getting that game here).. This month I have Ginga Force, Metal Gear Rising LE, and Layton, spent too much alrdy :(…

      • FetusZero

^ Ginga Force. Instead I ordered some oldies that I didn’t have yet: Raiden Fighters Aces and Eschatos. Eventually, I’ll get Ginga Force too.

Agreed that the new d-pad isn’t as bad as the old one, but I still find it to be off compared to the PS3’s d-pad, so I often find myself just using the stick. Main reason I’ll get this game though is to play with my friend locally.

        • I’m excited about that one too. I’m really surprised its coming to the US store so soon.

          • FetusZero

            Indeed! Quite a surprise.

        • Aoshi00

Eschatos was really good, very old school and had a good soundtrack, but quite hard, hope Ginga Force is good too. I alrdy pre-ordered Caladrius as well, even though I’m not a big fan of SMT Devil Survivor’s art.

Before the new d-pad, dualshock 3 definite felt more comfortable playing side scrollers. But recently I’ve beat Megaman 9 & 10 on the 360, the new controller really is much more precise, and it’s a bit hard toplay MM using the analog stick.

          • FetusZero

I can’t even begin to imagine playing Megaman with a stick lol. Bought these two on PS3 when they came out (though despite being a long time fan of MM, MM10 disappointed me.. except Nitroman’s stage music).

Eschatos should arrive tomorrow, or at least according to my shipping info. Can’t wait to pop it in and see why it gained so much popularity as far as X360 shmups go :]

I’d pre-order Caladrius too but I don’t have a Japanese X360, so I have to stick with region free titles :/

  • ronin4life

I thought Muramasa was this week too?
    When is/was that released?

    • 紅蓮

      March 28

  • Muffum

Haven’t really had any time to play the demo beforehand, but I’m really looking forward to Etrian Odyssey IV. Been on a dungeon crawler binge lately.

    • i already play the demo of EO IV for more than 10 hours, cant wait for it to come XD

  • The Grim Heaper

Senran Kagura! Still waiting to pay off my Amiami order.

    • fyi1191

Me too, I wish we can pay off today, so can receive the game tomorrow.

      *stares at email box*

      • The Grim Heaper

People got emails earlier and paid it off, but I did not. ):

  • idrawrobots

I have been debating on if I should import Shinovi Verses. Maybe I’ll wait for a sale.

  • almostautumn

Gosh. All I’m waiting for is just another $5 to fall off Macross and I will bite. I really want it, even though I’ve never watched the anime(s). Just looks like an absolute blast.
Senran I had ordered, but then play-asia refunded when they outsold their Asia edition. I’ll probably just wait for that to restock also— which does anyone know how long it normally takes for them to do? .

  • “Kyoukaisen no Horizon Portable”
    This game…. this game!
Way too much text for me to be able to play it. And way too much of a niche anime for it to get imported :(

  • Macross 30th is going to be great. I’ll probabaly wait for the price to drop. I want to get another memory stick to get my Japanese account on my vita to try out PSO2. It is so lame how that game is translated and coming to the west for the PC but not the Vita. People still play the old psp game so this would be huge for that crowd.

  • Edzo

nice cant wait for senran kagura and pso2
