  • Looks like a good movie, but i’ve just enough for Superman

  • i’m willing to bet my own arm he’ll end up being an antagonist
it’s william dafoe we’re talking about after all

    • PK212

Do you mean to say he’ll be Dafoe?

  • Alphabet Soup

Hmm, this game looks quite intri-

    “Willem Dafoe”

    • PABLO Rapetti Perez

One must wonder, who the hell does Willem Dafoe ends up in a game having his own character? Reminds me of Onimusha 3 with Jean Reno, never could grasp how it happened.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Anything with Dafoe instantly becomes 10x better…
The only blemish was the reveal of the Gamestop exclusive limited edition items. Damnit Sony!

  • KingGunblader

Hire all the Hollywood actors you want. I’m not impressed until I see some real gameplay footage.

    • Suicunesol

“Because Willem Dafoe is in it, and everyone likes Willem Dafoe, you should buy this game.” :P

I have to agree, I gotta say. This trend of making videogame trailers reminiscent of Hollywood movie previews without a shred of actual gameplay is something I wish would go away. When I watch the trailer, I should come away with a sense of what kind of game it is. Is this a shooter? A new kind of game? I honestly don’t know, I haven’t checked it out yet, but it’s probably a shooter. If the Playstation logo wasn’t flashed at the end, I might’ve thought it to be a CG film.

Granted, the audience they’re aiming at is undoubtedly one that enjoys thrillers and other such movies–not games. I’m not part of that audience. But I think if they want such a large emphasis on the plot with REAL actors in it, they should just go the full mile and make a live-action film.

They already showed some gameplay footage. If you’re looking for uncharted like gameplay though you will be severely disappointed. This is an adventure game or what they call “Interactive Drama”.

      • KingGunblader

Hmmm I’ve never played an Uncharted, or any of Quantic Dreams’ previous titles so that doesn’t really help. I’ll seek out some footage online but I think I might be passing on this one.

        Love Ellen Page though.

It’s really hard to explain the gameplay, especially if you haven’t played something like Heavy Rain. Though Two Souls goes beyond (unintentional pun) the type of gameplay in Heavy Rain.

        • The “gameplay” is a series of QTEs interspersed with student-film-quality cutscenes. It’s the future of gaming, don’cha know.

          • Barzh

We’ve had interactive adventure games since the 80s. These just have higher production value and don’t solely rely on clicking on an object to continue. We rarely get these games anymore, if you don’t like it don’t play it.

    • Beyond: Two Souls is similar to Heavy Rain, in terms of gameplay. So it’s more of an interactive adventure game.

    • amagidyne

To paraphrase Rudyard Kipling: “Oh, Quantic Dream is Quantic Dream, and Gameplay is Gameplay, and never the twain shall meet.”

  • The animation in this game is phenomenal. So much effort put into it.

  • Pokahontas McGuigan

barf @ the little girls lisp

  • Asura

Cheesy monster line… but GODDAMN WILLEM DAFOE GODDAMN.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

It disturbs me how real it looks and it’s particularly impressive since it’s a current gen system. Quantic Dream are extremely talented developers and you have to appreciate how hard they push the hardware.

Also, the cast is phenomenal (Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe are extremely good actors) and I love the idea of a supernatural interactive drama like Fahrenheit crossed with Heavy Rain.

  • StarWarudo

    Godspeed Spider-Man.

  • Göran Isacson

I know better than to trust a scientist played by Willem Dafoe- I know he’ll be aiming at my heart!

  • Aoshi00

Love these point and click adventure games.. you have the lower budget ones like Sam & Max, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, the Walking Dead from Telltale that tell a very gripping story, then you have higher production games like Heavy Rain and Beyond from Quantic Dream (Indigo Prophecy was a bit weird in the 2nd half). Love all of Willem Dafoe’s movies as well, pre-ordered for months now :) I wish they would do a continuation to T2 or Aliens w/ this kind of game..

  • Bentan

holy cow that’s creepy! looks 100% like him haha

  • Ridho Siregar

    Green Goblin!!

(yes, my movie knowledge is low)

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

    Dafoe is always good.

  • artemisthemp

I just hope the Gamestop exclusive and Limited Edition comes to EU.

    • Elvick

Europe usually gets LEs, so I’d be shocked if you didn’t. You guys would get more than we would.
