Activision have released a new trailer for their upcoming Deadpool game via IGN. You can watch the trailer below:

As previously reported, the Deadpool game will feature a cast of supporting characters from the Marvel universe in addition to Deadpool himself. Cable and Domino are confirmed to be in the game, and Marvel have also hinted at Death making an appearance as well.

Deadpool is slated for release in 2013 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Death’s actually in this trailer, if you look closely. When he’s in what looks like a temple with those statues with the green eyes, she’s the lady floating in the air.

I really wish High Moon would give us some more footage. Their work of Transformers has me confident that this will be good, but I’d still like to see more of it. Presumably, it’ll be out this year, so that’d be nice. Also still hoping we see some members of Uncanny X-Force. Psylocke and Fantomex would be sweet.

    • Oh, I never noticed Death. And yeah, I’d love to see X-Force members make an appearance! I’ve actually always thought Psylocke would make for a fantastic ninja game. It really is too bad she doesn’t seem popular enough to star in her own game.

As one of my favorite mutants (next to Cable and Gambit) I always wanted Capcom to do a Psylocke game back when they had the Marvel license in the 90s. They made some pretty kickass side-scrollers with that license, so I thought she’d have made for a pretty sweet Final Fight sorta game. A ninja game in the vein of Tenchu (what happened to that series?) would be pretty awesome though.

        • I used Psylocke very often in practically every game she was in. X-Men 2: Clone Wars for Genesis, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men Legends. She’s always been a really fun character to play as, regardless of game and genre, because she’s… well, a ninja. She’s always fast and stylish. :)

          *sniff* You brought up Tenchu… I keep hoping From Software will go back to it, but it doesn’t look likely, since they’re seeing so much success from Dark Souls and Armored Core. Maybe someone will offer to help them revive the series… ;_;

          • Solomon_Kano

I LOVED using her in X-Men Legends. I still remember how hyped I was when she joined the roster in that game lol.

As for Tenchu… I wanted to say that could be what Dark Souls’ director was working on, but he said it’s a new IP. I’d like to say they’ll return to it one day, but AC is the only long-running series they’re sticking with and they’ve only got enough manpower for so many games between AC, Souls, and their new IP. I don’t know who’d be suitable to help them with Tenchu though.

          • I only want them go to back to Tenchu if they can make something that’s comparable to the original PSOne games. In my opinion, those first two games worked really well partly because of thee technological limitations and lack of proper lighting on PSOne.

The light/shadow element worked really well, as did going across rooftops without being seen. I think the tank controls, oddly, were part of the fun, too, in the same way that some Resident Evil purists still swear by the old games.

Tenchu 4 was really good and I actually had a blast with it, but it was still missing that certain something from the originals. I couldn’t quite place my finger on it, though.

          • Solomon_Kano

I’ll have to disagree on tank controls lol. To this day I cannot bring myself to play the old RE games because of them. I never got to play Shadow Assassins since I didn’t have a Wii, but I loved Wrath of Heaven on PS2.

          • I can’t bring myself to appreciate the older REs any more either, but the limited movement in Tenchu kinda worked for me, heh. Oh, and Shadow Assassins is actually also on PSP, so you can try it there!

          • Solomon_Kano

Oh really? Guess I’ll pick it up one of these days. It should be pretty cheap, even on PSN. If it’s on PSN, that is, considering all the PSP games that aren’t.

Well, there’s a 2D side-scrolling game, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse by Capcom in SNES. And it got Psylocke in it. The game is really good in it’s time.

          • Solomon_Kano

I’ve played it! I love that game. It used to kick my ass when I was younger though. So did War of the Gems. Hm. Now you’ve got me thinking about tracking down an SNES and a copy so I can play it some more.

  • Zonic505

PLEASE let the gameplay be halfway decent. I’m enjoying the game’s humor, but I just hope it’ll play at least 1/2 as good as the humor.

  • As hilarious as the game is, seeing less and less gameplay is making me quite nervous. If anything, the final product better not be some decent action game with Deadpool humor as a sugar-coated topping.

    • Solomon_Kano

I think High Moon will deliver. I mean, they managed to make a good Transformers game and people told me that was impossible lol.

  • Hinataharem

That rocket better be in the final game.

  • Spirit Macardi

There wasn’t a single moment of this trailer where I wasn’t laughing my ass off XD

Looks like Dante and Bayonetta have some company now in the “hilariously over-the-top action games” department.

  • z_merquise

I hope there’s more actual gameplay video for this. I just want this game to be fun and really good.

I’m still a bit worried because they had Daniel Way as the writer (I’m not a fan of how he wrote Deadpool and his stories lacked depth and character development) but as long as DP is entertaining in this and the gameplay itself (which is the most important part) is handled well, I’m on-board for this game.

    Trailer is really good though.

    • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

It’s hard to see character development and depth when the main character is so goofy.

      • DeadpoolFool

Read Joe Kelly’s run or Rick Remender’s X-force. Deadpool may be goofy but he’s still a character, and a dang good one if written right. Even Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan’s run is doing good at least writing Deadpool as a sad clown story.

Daniel Way touched on him a few times, but mostly it was just Deadpool walking around meeting the guest of the month and talking to himself.

  • Blesmi

    “I <3 DP" I bet she does…

I was worried about the color because in one of the game magazines I saw, the colors used seemed to have cool tone (by cool tone I mean the opposite of warm and more vibrant colors), but seeing this makes me feel better about it.

  • Strain42

According to Wikipedia, there were some weird teasers implying that Hit Monkey was going to get his own game. This later turned out to be just a fake rumor spread to raise hype for this game. What I hope that ends up meaning…Hit Monkey better be in this game.

  • JordyZ

Really can’t wait for this game! I’ll probably enjoy the awesomeness of deadpool.

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

From my experience Cable is one cheap dude. It will be hard for Deadpool to stop him.

  • I wants to ride that rocket ^_^

  • Bruno Diaz

    Cable’s bazookas lmao
