Dragon Quest X Wii U Trailer Shows Off Its Enhanced Visuals

By Ishaan . March 8, 2013 . 10:30am

A beta for the Wii U version of Dragon Quest X kicked off earlier in the week, with the full game scheduled for release on March 30th. Today, Square Enix released a promo video for the game, giving a look at the visual upgrade on the Wii U with a selection of battle scenes and other in-game scenes.

For some odd reason, Square have disabled embedding on this particular video, so you can watch it here.

The Wii U version of Dragon Quest X will be compatible with the Wii version of the game, since both run on the same servers. The Wii U version will also support off-TV play on the Wii U GamePad. It will launch alongside a Wii U hardware bundle, which you can read about here.

Localise it and I’ll buy a WiiU! See? Easy sales Nintendo! Get to it!

  • Amagidyne

…so did anyone else glance at that picture of the cat and mistake it for Tony the Tiger?

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      Your great!!!!!

  • Brimfyre

I’m kind of convinced this isn’t coming stateside in it’s current incarnation.

For people who have played it, is there anyway it could be transitioned over to be a more offline game, with some online features, something more like DQIX, so it could sell more units over here?

    • Doubt it, they didn’t do it with Final Fantasy’s mmo games.
I don’t think we will get the Wii version.

    • Barstool Blues

Transition it into more of an offline game? wtf? It’s an MMO…that is the whole point of the game…

      • Brimfyre

That’s why I asked if it was possible. Perhaps group the storyline segments together and string them together as a Single Player experience like IX.

Between not getting the game at all or getting a modified version for the west, I’d take anything. I honestly don’t think they would have enough people over here to justify bringing it over.

        • I have a feeling they are pulling a Final Fantasy with Dragon Quest, so DQ X mmo then single player DQ 11…..at least I hope single player as I am getting tired of forced online in my single player rpgs.

    • Pockystix

at MOST we’ll see some sort of concession to the game to make it F2P, like not including Japan servers, or limiting the amounts of servers overall. . . it’s gonna be different, but I don’t think it’ll be THAT different lol

this is how dragon quest was meant to look
i hope it comes out for the 3ds too

  • Is this Navi?

  • Winston_from_the_Ministry

It’s not an art style I’m fond of, but one thing did strike me that could become a characteristic of rpg/adventure games, the absence of on-screen clutter.

  • Cameron Ward

I feel like they will either release it in the US or they wont. i mean, SE hasnt really been the good face of MMO’s based off their popular franchises recently have they?

i mean ill be excited for its US release, but i guess MMOs havent really stuck with me. if it was free to play, i would be interested to see how the combat works and i always love the artistic of this franchise, but idk…

  • tovarichyuri

I’ll rather Dragon Quest for the PS 3 or 4

    • Twilord

Too bad. Soon all will be Nintendo. And all that is not will perish in the cleansing flames of the future.

  • miigamerz

They need to localize this. Sqaure and Nintendo Please hear our pleas.

  • kensredemption

I hope they localize this so I’ll get X alongside it.
