A CoroCoro magazine leak reveals a new Little Battlers game for the Nintendo 3DS this week—The Little Battlers Wars. This will be an entirely new game in the series, featuring a new protagonist named Arata Sena, with a prestigious school as the setting. Sena hails from the fictional country of Genoque and uses an LBX named Dot Phazer.

Sena’s roommate is a boy named Hikaru Hoshihara, who uses the Bal Sparros LBX. He and Sena are part of a “First Squad,” which is commanded by a character named Haruki Izumo. Izumo uses the Orvain LBX.

Other characters from Genoque are: Fifth Squad commander Kite Fuujin, Fourth Squad commander Catherine Ruth, Third Squad commander Rikuya Togo, and Second Squad commander Gendou Isoya.

Also in the game is the Russius Alliance, a fictional country consisting of a union between several others. Muraku Houjou, an LBX ace, belongs to the Russius Alliance, and shares an adversarial relationship with Sena and co. Houjou uses the Gaunta Yzerfar LBX. His squadmates are Mikhail Luke, Vanessa Gara and the Muraku Squad mechanic Kageto Kiba.

Considering all I could glean from this article was that a bunch of characters with names are in this game and that they use things (robots?) with abbreviations at the end of their names… I should probably look this series up. Not even sure what genre it is, but I’m going to guess Strategy RPG?

    • LynxAmali

      Action RPG.

It’s what you get if Medabots and Custom Robo had a kid together.

  • OverlordZetta

Is this actually being announced as a game?

From what I understand they’re just announcing a new anime – seems odd to announce two 3DS games at once for the same franchise doesn’t it?

    • Tsunamori Nanashi

It seems like Level5 is trying to milk dry his rediscovered cow that he had left alone at the back of the barn, so it doesn’t really surprise me to see them do this.

      • OverlordZetta

Rediscovered, how? It’s had a constant anime presence for two years and annual games since the first one.

        They never stopped.

        • Tsunamori Nanashi

They might had not stopped the anime, but there sure was a long hiatus between (new, not re-releases) games.

          • OverlordZetta

How so? It hasn’t even been a year since W – the port for W is right on schedule if anything.

      • Chogokin

Franchises for children usually try to keep a constant flow of new material. If you stop for 1-2 years kids will lose interest.

    • Chogokin

There will be a game, it usually takes longer for Danball to get one than Inazuma. The W port along with Baku Boost is an attempt to get more sales from a more popular platform (the 3DS).

    • Yes, it is a new game. They haven’t announced a price or release date.

      • OverlordZetta

Interesting! But the W port had that stuff?

  • Solomon_Kano

Aaaand migration complete. I figured this is where we were heading with the original getting ported to 3DS. They announced the sequel’s 3DS port and a new 3DS entry in one fell swoop. Level-5 is officially through with the PSP.

As it stands now, every L5 series is now on 3DS. They said they’re open to a NNK sequel if the western release is successful enough, so if that happens it’ll be L5’s only console series. Interesting. I wonder if that’s Hi no’s plan or they’ve got something else cooking for consoles? I mean, they have spent most of this gen on PSP/DS.

    • OverlordZetta

I’m still going to hold out hope for a port for Wars on a Sony system later on. It started on PSP, I kinda doubt they’d just abandon the original userbase like that.

      • Solomon_Kano

Well, considering the overlap between the PSP audience and that of the 3DS, I wouldn’t be surprised if L5 made this a Nintendo only deal. I mean, if it wasn’t, there’s certainly no reason this couldn’t have been announced for Vita at the same time. They did as much with Time Travelers, after all. I get the feeling that the point of the ports was to tell their audience where they could expect to see future games in the series.

Unfortunate, but at this point I don’t care as long as we start seeing some of em localized. That should happen with the 3DS in the mix. I think we’re supposed to be getting the anime this year as well, but I heard that ages ago so I don’t even know if that’s still happening.

Hope that L5 will be able to diferentiate this with the upcoming “Chou” port here.
As i can picture one of the sales will suffers heavily if they don’t time the release properly here.T_T

    • Chou is for the Summer. This is probably going to be one of their Fall games.

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Isn’t that also seems to be quite close one and another? Should it not be one for Summer and another for Winter would be better timed?

        • Well, Level 5’s “holiday” games usually release between November and the first week of Jan. They could either release in time for the hols or wait for kids to get their New Year money.

    • OverlordZetta

That’s why I initially couldn’t believe this to be true – but the proof is in the pudding I suppose.
Time to invest in a Japanese 3DS I guess.
