Pikachu Nintendo 3DS XL Coming To North America This Month

By Ishaan . March 14, 2013 . 8:00am

The special Pikachu Nintendo 3DS XL system that was released in Japan and Europe last year is headed to North America, Nintendo have announced.

The Pikachu 3DS XL system will be available on March 24th—the same day as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity—and will come with a 4GB SD card. It will available for $200 while supplies last.

As previously reported, registering a new 3DS XL along with either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will allow you to avail one of five free games from Club Nintendo in the U.S.

This is the first custom XL in North America, right? Hopefully the doors are open now – particularly for the SMTIV one.

My days of enjoying Pokemon are long behind me, but yeah, it’d be nice if this is a sign of 3DSes to come.

      • Barrylocke89

I hate to be the negative one, but my bet is that almost all of America’s custom 3DS’s will be for first party games, and MAYBE a few key 3rd party partnerships. Note that all of the customs we’ve gotten so far (like Zelda, Fire Emblem, and now this) are all first party.

        • Locklear93

HEY! BEING THE NEGATIVE ONE IS USUALLY MY JOB, QUIT IT. Anyway, I agree with you. Thus the “it’d be nice if…” in my post. I don’t have a lot of faith.

Hopefully I can still get it in May when I have enough money saved. I would get it next month, but Soul Hackers and LEGO City come out then. May has nothing, so…

      “… while supplies last …”
I think you better buy the Pika3DS first. Both Soul Hackers ans Lego City will still be out in may, but the Pika3DS MIGHT not…

      • I wouldn’t be that confident. Atlus games are known for be rare to find.

        • Ricky Forschbach

Bad games are usually pretty rare, yeah.

  • PhilliesFlyers89

So is this sold at retail or a Club nintendo? I really do want to upgrade to an XL, and this seems like an awesome choice

  • r0gamer940

I will easily but the SMT 4 XL it will be the second XL I will buy. Hell I don’t care if they include a digital copy I will just buy a physical copy

    3DS ruling NA is 100% now.^_^

  • Solomon_Kano

I don’t really want an XL (other than the SMT4 one — that looks sweet), but I would so get this if I had the money.

    I need a job dammit! All these 3DS games that I can’t play because I’m poor. ;_;

  • Learii

i hope is still sell in summer

  • $24431191

This is good to hear but I’d rather have the SMT IV DS. This one does look really nice though.

  • N-nooo…. I must resist!! Yellow isn’t really my color anyway, but it’s either this or the AC3DS one and who knows if that’ll come here.

  • SuperSailorV

My god. Where are they going to be selling from?

  • Anesia Hunter

but still doesn’t come with pokemon yellow pre-loaded on it….

  • Christopher Nunes

I love Pokemon and Pikachu but I’m not a big fan on yellow as I prefer red, if they made a Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard one I would buy it as it’s my favorite Pokemon and color.

Though I stand by getting a 3DS XL in May for a birthday present and getting the red one.

    Thank you, but next time!

    • skyblaze

They did make a Charizard model. It’s rather insane. Unfortunately that’s still a Japan exclusive -_-

      • Christopher Nunes

        Damn it’s kick-butt!

Why Nintendo? Why make it Japan exclusive… and how do you get the Charizard one?

I might import that in case I want/need a Japanese 3DS to play those 3DS games that most likely won’t come out of Japan that I want to play.

  • xzeldax3

    I’d buy this version:

  • CirnoLakes

And now I have to buy a third Nintendo 3DS.
