Epic Mickey 2 Painting A Trail To PlayStation Vita [Update]

By Ishaan . March 18, 2013 . 11:30am

Update: Sony have revealed on the PS Blog that they are involved with porting Epic Mickey 2 to the PlayStation Vita. The game will be ported from the PS3 version.

Epic Mickey 2 is headed to the PlayStation Vita, Sony have announced on their European PlayStation blog. The game will be released later this year and will come with Vita-optimized controls as well as a two-player wi-fi co-op mode.

Just who is porting Epic Mickey 2 to the Vita is unknown as of now. The game’s original developer, Junction Point, were closed down by parent company Disney earlier in the year, following the game’s release and subsequent negative critical reception.

At the time, Disney stated: “These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities.”

What? Why? I don’t get how this would work out well.

  • Shariest

UUu-u I might buy it, Mickey feels like fun time to have on a road :)

It was unfortunate that Junction Point was dismantled due to this series (2 games in would make this a “series”, right?). Hopefully some of the original devs were kept around (under a different studio perhaps) to help with this port.

Junction Point was in Austin, Texas. This is being worked on by a studio in SCEE.

Unless some people moved to Europe, the chances are slim.

Ah, yea, that does seem unlikely. Anyway thanks for the update.

A late port of a poorly reviewed game. This reminds me of a certain crossover fighting game…….

  • It’s a Vita game, so we will take what we can get.

    • My cousin loves this game and plays it with his friend, of course a Disney game is not going to be for everyone I mean really?

Umm, it being Disney has nothing to do with it. It has fundamental problems as a game, as evidenced by the numerous negative reviews that detail as such. The fact that it’s Disney should actually contribute as a factor in it being able to reach a broad audience, as there are fans of the label from literally all ages.

SCEE is porting and publishing (read down in the blogs comment section). I doubt Disney was gripping onto the game’s licensing rights too tightly; I mean, they did let go of Junction Point.

Seems like a low risk, high reward project for SCEE. I think that SCEA wouldn’t mind leeching off SCEE’s find either so, we might be getting it in the states.

  • SCEE is porting game.

I heard this game was bad :{ oh well take it or leave it I guess

Considering they’re porting and publishing the game, I really think Sony is wasting their money with this one….

  • Sylveria

    Why.. this game was awful.

  • Thanks for the heads up, guys. Post updated.

  • Maybe if it provides good proof that games that were on the wii originally can work on the vita we can get more games ported over. Pandora’s Tower for one.
