Phantasy Star Online 2 Gets Its Next Content Update In April

By Ishaan . March 29, 2013 . 8:30am

Phantasy Star Online 2 is set to receive another content update on April 10th in Japan. This will feature a new area called the “Dragon Shrine” on the planet of Amduscia. The area will feature a new creature called the Goranzoran (above), and he has the ability to summon a Voldragon:

You can view this and other content that will be featured in this update in the trailer below:

See the Easter Egg-looking things below? Those are Egg Rappies, and you’ll spot them walking around between April 10th and May 15th, which is the duration for a scheduled Easter event. Additionally, during this time, the Arks Lobby will turn into an Easter Lobby. Egg Rappies will drop the Egg Blaster item, which is a funky-looking pair of guns (the image on the right).

Other content will be included in the April 10th update, too, such as class level 60, the addition of new skills, and the impressive-looking Dragon Ex:

  • Thank god i got a 16 gbs card with the Vita…

    • ShadowDivz

In your opinion is it worth it? What do you have on your 16g (out of curiosity.)

      • Solomon_Kano

I’ve got a 16 as well, and I’d say it’s worth it. It’s got Gravity Rush, Motorstorm RC, 4 PS1 Classics, and 6 PSP games on it and I’ve still got 6.5GB to spare.

        • ShadowDivz

Cool. Because i saw an 8gb for 29 or 39.99(cant rememeber) and i was wondering if i should get it.

      • Vesperion

Sure hope he has Wild Arms :)

        • Kai2591

i see what you did there ;)

  • Sef

    y u do dis ;_;

  • Pokahontas McGuigan

they need to get their priorities straight and start working on the english version

    • B-But there is a translation patch for the probably superior Japanese version online.

If Sega wants to do it right, they need to make the updates more fluent than before. Dont need to remind many here of PSU. So far, I’m really happy with the current Japanese version.

      • ZEROthefirst

B-But the fan translation patch is horribly done and is completely useless aside from seeing bad translations on some monsters and NPCs.

        • Luna Kazemaru

lulz I like you for this.

        • Wow, you surely are one edgy, ungrateful mofo. Whatever nitpicks your gears, I guess.

          • ZEROthefirst

I’m trying to encourage people to go for the official English release, instead of having the same problem with PSO2 like there has been with every other PS game that has online… people get too attatched and then refuse to leave the Japanese version (you can’t say this isn’t true, if you go on PSO2 and ask the majority of the English players, none of them are going to leave or even really show any support for the English release). So the English servers suffer from things like content updates that rarely come along because of a lack of traffic, etc.
I’d rather see these games have a long and healthy life in the West instead of encouraging someone to ignore it because there’s a fan translation that only gives you the bare minimum on SOME items.

          • You are setting those priorities in the wrong order: People jumped ship because the lack of updates were present in the first place, while the Japanese version did not have any, at least for PSU. To be frank, I will play both and I also look forward to get the chance to play the western version. Until then, I will just stick with the Japanese Version until we get more news on the release date for the Western version. I am one of those impatient people that like to play games they look forward to as early as possible, nothing more and nothing less.

          • ZEROthefirst

Big lack of updates and new things in the West mostly started with PSU and in all honesty I can’t stand the PSU series (PSP2i is an exception to the PSU series). I’m impatient about this game too, I started playing PSO2 on the open beta when it was released, and no lifed it almost as badly as I did with PSO on the DC, GC and then later with BB on the Schthack server.
I had to stop myself though when I heard of the English release because PSO2 is a lot more of a grind fest then the past PSO entries and I don’t want to go too far with my Fonewm (kind of against this guy though, because FOs are freaking tanks in PSO2)/Hunewm and then restart it.

          • Liking it or not is not the problem though: What matters is that the lack of content was present and many people are afraid that the same will happen with PSO2, hence people denying to play the localization. To be frank, I had a FOnewearl in OB as well, got her around 26, now I picked PSO2 about half a month ago, with all of those new updates, made a new character, since my previous ID has become invalid since I didnt sign in with it for quite a while and now I got the new FOney around Level 30. FOs have become quite the tanks, now that they added the subclasses too. On Youtube, some dudes manage to beat Very Hard Bosses Solo in less than a minute with spamming Rafoie.

I cant wait for the English release either. Heck, I live in Europe, but once I heard that they gave away some neat Mousepads, I bought one from a guy who sold his own at ebay.

          • ZEROthefirst

True, and I have a video on my YT channel that I uploaded for my buddy going through VH Bosses without taking damage, as a HU/FImar, it’s not under a minute for each boss, but still impressive for a melee class in PSO2 since Sakai has made the game much more accessible to ranged units.

Wish I could have gotten one of those mousepads, I have a cool Char’s Zaku II, Gundam mousepad, but it’s not very useful and things get in the way of moving the mouse, so it’s more for decoration then anything.

          • M’iau M’iaut

Let’s not consider those wishing to play a legitimate and licensed, fully supported and complete version ungrateful.

          • Dunno where you are getting the implication that I am against a full-fledged english version. Oversaturating much ?

          • M’iau M’iaut

If so, then I would ask you not to throw around such terminology as ‘ungrateful mofo’ when addressing other members of our community.

          • I will try to hold back next time as long you start to not make disingenious assertions ;) Okay, that was the last one :D
(Even though I think that at least the former was correct. The latter was a little too much on my account, granted.)

          • M’iau M’iaut

Tis’ all fine. Do know that this avi name has been around since a FOnewearl from the days of the first DC PSO. Yes folks were stupid enough to play them back at a time when nothing was more nerfed. It is too bad there wasn’t an English language option from the start as all import versions of the first PSO could do. I speak from experience on that one too :P.

          • I can feel you mate. I played FOney as well, even up till PSO2 now. I am sincerely hoping that they will release it over here too. Having Global Server would have make tons of things easier. Hopefully Sega of America will do a good job on this one.

          • M’iau M’iaut

At least they made more than all up for it with FOnews in the GC version. So odd they would decide to wall the servers when the thing that made PSO so special was just exactly that the world could play together.

          • Playing as a world united has really become a Pipe dream ever since PSU was released…

    • Putitinme

But their priorities are the Japanese version since that will make them the most money in the long run, standard SEGA stuff right here. If you want to blame someone blame Sega of America since they handle the english Phantasy star games..but any sane person should never want to play anything hosted by them.

      • Sega America still hasn’t learned since Dreamcast era. While it’s actually nice of them to port some of the mainstream games. They still are in the mindset that the minor games shouldn’t be ported because they won’t make money.

        Wait no…where’s Yakuza 5?

    • Luna Kazemaru

right they should stop updating for a version thats out for you k.

  • Level cap is going to 60, I only made it to 51 XD
Since they’re adjusting XP gains, Advanced Quests actually seem worth the trouble ^^
    Gooo Sega of Japan! :D

  • TheExile285

Come on Sega, give us the Vita version in NA.

    • Abyan Haidar

well… even the PC version is delayed til’ don’t-know-when

  • Damn! That trailer was awesome! Why does this game always look so amazing? Still waiting on that English release date though.

  • MyBodyIsReady

EU please. Come on, just do it.

  • DanijoEX

Oh yeah, I think the update patch for Vita is a whopping 1244mb. Compared to the PC patch.

    • Brandonmkii

That was for the Sakura lobby stuff, not sure how bug this update is going to be.

  • The Watcher

i feel like making a Male human this time.

  • Bring this to America D:

  • zed grim

    theres a petition.

  • Spirit Macardi

I’m so hoping that Dark Falz will make a return in this game. He’s pretty much THE villain of the series after all.

    • ezero

He’s already in the game :V…

  • Vesperion

    Meanwhile in the west….

    • ShadowDivz

The future of all gamers for japan only games.

    • That’s how I used to feel about Final Mixes.

    • Kai2591

      The Curse of Non-Japanese-speaking gamers.

  • SpecDotSign

Soooo Sega of America. This game seems really cool. I would really like to play it =|

    • fds_nextdart

Well, the PC version is coming. Sooner or later, unfortunately, the PSV version doesn’t seem likely given they have said zero about it so far~.

  • Sergio Briceño

Sony has been pushing the monhun like games with advertising, I wonder why it isn’t taking such an agressive approach as well with Sega on bringing this to the west.

I know it’s not their IP, but they should take chances. Sit down, have a talk. “We want our system to sell in the west”, “We got a system seller”, “Great! Please make the Vita version a reality outside of Japan!”. Then they all shake hands, bow and go to karaoke together.

  • Lester Paredes

I just want to play! C’mon, Sega! What’s with the delay?

  • Vash bane

    time to cosplay

  • eilegz

i guess i need to buy the 32gb cart and hopefully by the time there its a pricecut on this one the game get released here….
