This morning, Square Enix and Eidos Montreal pulled their April Fool’s stunt with a joke reveal of Deus Ex: Human Defiance. It isn’t a movie or a follow-up to Human Revolution—it’s an 8-bit game:

Eidos say: “Human Revolution brought about the cyber-Renaissance, Human Defiance marks the beginning of a Digital Golden Age.” Like regular Deus Ex games, Human Defiance will feature multiple options when it comes to tackling a given situation, from gunplay to being stealthy, and non-lethal boss fights.

Additionally, Eidos say that Deus Ex: Human Defiance will has a co-op multiplayer mode that teams Adam Jensen up with previous Deus Ex protagonist J.C. Denton.

    Frankly, I would love it if they actually made such a game.

  • Solomon_Kano

    But I would totally have bought this. ;_;

    8-bit J.C. throwing Jensen lol.

    DEEP THOUGHT-PROVOKING CHOICES aww yiss. That’s the kinda honey that papa likes on his sandwiches. The agonizing decision of YES or NO and up and down, tense stuff people. Tense stuff.

    Okay so honest opinion: it looks fun, though I would hope they’d pull the camera back a little and work with smaller sprites IF someone anywhere would ever get it in their heads to do this for real.

    That 8-bit rendition of Icarus is amazing.

    This just made me wish high-profile developers would take graphics like this seriously.
    But it had to be a joke.

  • his censored shirt reads: “Municipal Masters” at 0:10

  • It’s not 8-bit. Too many colors… Maybe 16-bit.
