Young Justice Action RPG To Serve As “Season 1.5” Of The Story

By Ishaan . April 3, 2013 . 11:15am

The Young Justice TV show might have been cancelled, but the team will live on in a multiplayer action RPG scheduled for release later this year.

Young Justice: Legacy takes place between seasons 1 and 2 of the TV show, and is written in collaboration with show writers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti. Confirmed playable characters in the game include: Nightwing, Superboy, Aqualad, Artemis, Miss Martian, Kid Flash, Robin, Rocket, Tempest, Zatanna, Beast Boy, and Batgirl.

Since it takes place between the two seasons of the TV show, the game’s developer, Little Orbit, are treating Young Justice: Legacy as a “season 1.5” of sorts. They say the game will explore what happened during the five-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, and is going to be considered a part of the series’ canon.

In addition to the Young Justice team operating as their own team, the game will also feature “mentor missions,” where members of the team will operate alongside a senior member of the Justice League, like Superman or Batman.

Young Justice: Legacy is in development for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The game will be available this September.

I love their multiplatform verity. Seems like they got everyone down except the vita but even though thats still a lot. I still can’t figure why this got cancelled but the Incredible Crew & and Annoying Orange are a thing.

    • Mister_Nep

I think the official reason is the merchandise selling wasn’t good anymore, or something like that.

    • Those shows were cheap to make while YJ was costly and wasn’t performing all that well.

      • Rohan Viajar

yeah. Althouh it didn’t perform well because of the time slot given to them.

a lot of good voice actors in YJ, so I can agree it was somewhat costly

  • shafiq95

im just gonna check this out for the storyline

  • Enma_Kozato

Yes~! My heart tore a bit when I found out the show was cancelled, and it tore even more due to the quality of the last episode.

    • Barrylocke89

I never saw YJ. What about the Last episode made it seem like such a sour ending?

      • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

It seemed rushed. I’ll leave it at that. =(

        • Bunk

This cannon was the only one he mattered in anymore… and now he’s gone. Anyone who loved the character be it in this incarnation, his Role in Justice League back in the day, or in the comics have all mourned his loss.

      • Enma_Kozato

For the most part, it was rushed, like Lexaus said. It ended with a
cliffhanger, introduced a relationship that had absolutely no build up, completely mended a broken relationship without much confrontation or expansion on, annnnd something else that wasn’t pleasant for the fanbase to sign off on.

        • Rohan Viajar

well you have to understand that originally, they wanted to keep going with the story.

so that’s why it was at a cliffhanger. just like the 1st season ending.

          • Vash bane

I hoping they busted out a ben 10

  • Elemiel

I hope they do something to make up for no season 3. ._.

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I suggest a series of short movies to make up for this loss…

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Ugh, don’t remind me that Young Justice was cancelled. It makes my heart ache. =(

Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti can never catch a break. It now makes 2 shows by them that I started to love and then they get cancelled after just 2 seasons: Spectacular Spiderman and Young Justice.

I’ll definitely be picking this one up regardless of if it turns out average, or not, since I want to know what happened between season 1 and 2.

  • zferolie

I hope this game is good, because I loved the show. Shame it was cancled. CN may have some great shows, but they also cancle a lot of good ones(YJ, GL, Titan, Megas XLR, ect)

    • puchinri

Apparently they have a rule that (animated) action shows can’t go beyond two seasons (which explains what happens to some of the shows I enjoy). It’s a dumb and ineffective rule to me, but they also have made a crapton of ridiculous choices over the last few years.

      • Disney used to have a similar rule where shows couldn’t go past three seasons or 64 episodes (whichever came first). It’s what led to the petition that brought back Kim Possible back in the day… Oh how I remember those days…

        • puchinri

Oh, wow, I didn’t know that.
Good thing the petition actually changed that.

          • I’m not entirely sure if it was the petition that did anything to benefit it, but that’s what myself (and many others) like to believe XD

          • It was a petition that made the show transcend the 64 episodes limit. And that limit has never broken ever again. At least, until Phineas and Ferb came along, but that show is slowly but surely fading away from our memories.

      • Disney used to have a similar rule where shows couldn’t go past three seasons or 64 episodes (whichever came first). It’s what led to the petition that brought back Kim Possible back in the day… Oh how I remember those days…

      • Ben Sylvia

Then what the heck is Ben 10’s excuse????

        • puchinri

I think they try to get away with it there by rebranding it every time. I also am not quite sure when they implemented it, though I was guessing it was within the last year or so.

          • HassanJamal

That show died when they announced a teen sequel. First show was fun and great, its successor however, bleh.

        • Adam_Rodriguez

          He forgot to add “good”.

      • TheExile285

CN as they are now, are garbage compared to what I remember as a kid IMO.

        • The 90’s was the best year for video games and cartoons. The 80’s, as well. But alas, the new corporate generation doesn’t want to learn from anything that happened n those 20 years.

          • puchinri

I feel kind of mixed. CN has faired terribly, but at least other stations (the HUB, Nick to a point) have grown a bit and games are mixed (some of my favorite games of all time have come out between these last two gens). I think video games have definitely faired much better than cartoons though (and television as a whole).

        • puchinri

They really are. I don’t know what’s come over them.

      • Doesn’t explain why Samurai Jack had and Justice had four seasons.

        • puchinri

I think that was definitely way before they implemented the rule. A lot has changed at the network since those two shows. A lot.

    • Warboss Aohd

i miss ya Megas XLR…….Coop woz practically an’ ork.

  • Yuriangels

wait when was the show cancelled and why!?!

    • puchinri

Just a month or so ago actually, and I think most if not all of the blame goes to CN.
I’m hoping DC will try to get the show signed on with another network, but I can’t see it happening. (They should move the entire DC block elsewhere.)

      • The show wasn’t performing well in the sales department and wasn’t reaching it’s 6-11 ratings demographic, it’s primary audience, top it off with the fact that it was expensive to make.

        • puchinri

True, it wasn’t performing as well in the sales department, but that doesn’t change how much of the blame actually does lie with CN. I don’t know what DC will do and don’t expect much out of them anyway though, given many of their stupid decisions as of late.

  • shion16

Im gonna play as Superboy or Shazam!!!
But September is a lot of time for a game based on a cancelled tv series.

    • Would you rather the game come out like crap or come good?

      • shion16

the game was announced the last year

        • Hmmm you do have reason to worry but even then you can only hope that this large amount of time is spent making the game actually really good but only time will tell.

  • Aisha Lee

“sigh” this is Teen Titans all over again. Awesome show that gets cancelled on a cliffhanger. >_> Never the least I’ll be keeping my eye on this game.

  • Alberto Maytorena

Already looking better than Infinite Crisis.

  • Sesshomaru

Who cares about a shitty game that covers a gap I don’t give two rats butts about. WHAT HAPPENED TO WALLY YOU JERKS! I hate WB.

  • Ace

Dang, the show was really good too.

  • Well, while this show got cancelled, at least look at the (partially) bright side: Bruce Timm came back to do a new DC show! And he will be bringing back the DCAU we all came to know back in the 90’s! It might even involve more Harley/Ivy shennanigans!

    • I must have missed this. What’s Bruce Timm working on that’s like the ’90s animated shows? All I’ve seen is trailers for that horrendous new Batman cartoon with the Ninja girl.

EDIT: Just found it. Holy shit! There might be room for forgiveness in my heart after all, if this new show is as good as Young Justice or the original AU.

      • EvilZygonRabbit

Could you post a link? I haven’t been able to find anything definite on this. Sounds cool, in any case.

Another bit of (potential) good news – it sounds like Young Justice and Green Lantern might be coming back after all. The producers of the shows are in talks with to create some kind of Kickstarter-like campaign to make more episodes. So far they’re keeping it pretty quiet, but they say that “Indications are very good”.

      • Can you spread the word about it a little? I’ve been talking about it to a few other people, but it seems that this info is still in obscurity to the main public. I mean, the moment you say that Bruce Timm and his DCAU is making a comeback, the levels of disbelief go off the charts!

  • Learii

i might buy it unless i let to fly aroundor run with super speed like ZOOM!! lol

  • Michael Stevens

I’m looking forward to this game. I was at Wondercon and Greg Weisman did a surprise panel, giving a few hints at what to expect. Like with Red Arrow for starters.

  • Lester Paredes

such potential! I want to love it, but will remain cautiously optimistic for now!

  • Sergio Briceño

I think it’s good that this game is being made after the series end, because it means that they have been working without mayor time constraints, right? Like, I hope it won’t feel like all those inferior Cartoon Network heroes inspired video games that play like PS game, look like a PS2 game and are actually released as a PS3 era game.

I’m glad also that we got more Young Justice so soon.

Also, some models do look great. Like Superman’s maybe is because his look usually lacks any emotion like Batman’s, because all the other characters are missing that emotion. The only one I don’t like at all is Garth, he looks way off, but it’s not like I have seen much of his time skip look anyway to know for sure. It’s still early in development, so we will see.

That being said. THAT BLACK CANARY ASS.

  • who is the publisher of this game?
game doesn’t look good in my eyes.

where is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 man!? >:/
