Franklin:

Trevor:

Grand Theft Auto V will be released on September 17th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game takes place in the city of Los Santos in the series’ fictional state of San Andreas. Michael, Trevor and Franklin are all acquainted with one other, and their stories will all be connected as well.

lol at Trevor, he’s too crazy to not like.

    • JustThisOne

He kind of strikes me as a Murdock that never joined the A-Team. :P

  • Chris Yuen

Looks like GTA 5 going to be my first GTA experience.

  • Kevin Schwarz

Finally a GTA with a nice story it seems, and 3 of them to make it better!

    • Cloud_ST

IV had a somewhat good story, the problem it had is that pretty much every character except Niko was kinda lame, specially the main antagonist. Hopefully we’ll get a better antagonist this time around.

    • ninjabart122

I enjoyed Chinatown War’s story, although I’m not sure how others felt of it. Maybe I have low standards.

  • Manny Being Manny

    This looks amazing.

  • Solomon_Kano

I really, really disliked GTA4, but this looks incredible. Franklin looks particularly interesting.

    • isfuturebright

I’m with you there. I got GTA4 way back and just found it unintersting… This one is looking waaay much better. Hope it brings something new to the table.

    • Anime10121

Yep Yup! In total agreement there, 4 was a complete and utter snorefest compared to Vice City and San Andreas before it. 4 tried too hard to take itself too seriously, and doing so, took a lot of the fun out of the series. What I’ve seen so far of V is seeming to be heading back in the right direction.

      • Solomon_Kano

Agreed. Franklin’s giving me San Andreas vibes and Michael reminds me of Tommy Vercetti, so hopefully this falls more in line with the PS2 games than 4. It definitely looks to be on the right track.

    • Pombar

I was happy with the direction GTA4 went (story and character focused instead of RPG or comedy sandbox elements – both done better in Saints Row and Crackdown), and this looks like an interesting continuation of that. The multiple leads reminds me of Yakuza 4 too, which is only a good thing. Hopefully they’ve taken some combat pointers from Sleeping Dogs!

      • Solomon_Kano

I don’t mind GTA4′s story focus, but the story they told didn’t really entertain me. Didn’t really care for Niko either. So I’m glad that 5 looks to retain 4′s story focus while bringing back some of the earlier games’ more colorful protagonist sorts.

Combat can definitely be improved, but I dunno that SD is the way to go. Wei Shen’s martial arts experience contextualized his fighting, but it’d be weird if Micheal, Trevor, and Franklin are all proficient fighters. I just need melee to be better than 4′s.

That said, I do hope that Rockstar adopts Sleeping Dogs’ street racing. I mean, come on, they’ve got the experience! Combining GTA and Midnight Club would be brilliant!

        • Pombar

Yeah, I wasn’t really think of the martial arts aesthetic so much as the ease of use and fun that came from that, rather than a clinky, PS1-feeling mess that GTA combat often sinks to.
Well, that and I’d also like to see car-to-car jumping in every game like this.

          • Solomon_Kano

Ah. I gotcha. In that case, I’d like something more like Yakuza. Batman combat in GTA would feel weird for me after so many years of it being super basic. Car-hopping would be great though. It’d be fitting too, judging by the characters’ actions in the trailers.

A trailer with my favorite Queen song? That’s one way to get in my good side.

    • Cloud_ST

Loved it cause of that song and the scenes in general were pretty well put together, best one of the three I think.

      • http://twitter.com/matty_125 matty

Agreed. It was a well cut trailer. I felt the same way about TBoGT trailer, too.

  • DesmaX

Oh, I totally forgot this was coming this september…

Oh well, I know they will release an complete version some time later, but, since this is Rockstar we’re talking about, I’ll let it slide. Day 1 for me

  • shaolinsword

Looks fantastic as always but am I alone in thinking this looks too good to be current gen?

    • Solomon_Kano

It looks the same as Max Payne 3 to me. RAGE is starting to show its age, I think.

      • shaolinsword

I completely forgot about Max Payne 3 for some reason

It’s gonna be good to get back to Grove Street

        • DCBlackbird

will it exist in this iteration of San Andreas?

  • $36487238

Back in the hood, yo! Looks incredibly sweet!.,…

But man, don’t have a PS3 or 360 to enjoy this with. Hope they announce a PC port of some kind. (Hey, before you guys flag me as some PC enthusiast who hates consoles, you should know that I’m a bit low on money and the only games I can buy are for PC, VITA and the iPhone.). However, if the game doesn’t end up on PC, well, better save up cash and buy a PS3 or 360 on X-Mas Day!

    • DesmaX

Don’t worry, a PC port is imminent.

Just hope it will be playable (I mean, that GTA IV port…)

      • $36487238

Let’s hope so. Man, I already got GTA IV for PC but man, it was a bit hard for me to play. Let’s REALLY hope Rockstar does their job for a PC port.

  • OkamiKing

……. So super San Andreas with even more colorful characters…. I guess the big difference between then and now…. Is that I don’t need to awkwardly ask my mom to buy the game.

  • JustThisOne

Haha, I like the idea of a midlife crisis guy. I’m sure if I smashed heads together for a living, I’d miss it too. :>

But Trevor… now that’s where stuff gets interesting.

  • Learii

I hope they still let us change the controller layout to classic like GTA IV that all I ask

  • vileBrenman

Trevor looks like he’s gonna be fun to play as cause he a crazy son a biatch

  • DCBlackbird

I like this choice of cast, they have a lot to look forward to, but my main concern is that these cutscenes look like they’re gonna be gta4 long.

  • DCBlackbird

WHOOOOO!!! trevor is the guy lovin the vice city(my favorite)vibes comin off him

  • juma086

Damn, Franklin. that’s how they do it in the hood. I’m gonna enjoy playing as him ^ ^

  • SirRichard

I’m not even sure who I’d want to play as and follow the most, all three of them seem interesting or just sheer crazy enough to not run with. There’s hints of the more serious story and writing of later GTAs mixed in with all the rampaging you come to the series for, it’s wonderful.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

CJ better show up in this, I hope they didnt put him in a box and forgot about him.

    • Solomon_Kano

That would be about the coolest thing, if they had CJ show up.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

lol he is voiced by the same guy

        • Solomon_Kano

          Is he? Sounds different.

    • DCBlackbird

unless that billboard in gta 4 means anything he most likely won’t due to the fact that this is in gta 4′s universe

      • Solomon_Kano

Ah, you’re right. The PS2 games had a separate universe.

  • Tom_Phoenix

Well, if the first video is any indication, at least we are sure to get an excellent soundtrack again.

For me, the jury is still out on this one. I was a big fan of the GTA III trilogy, but I did not like the changes to the series that GTA IV brought. I’ve yet to be convinced that GTA V is going in the right direction, especially with all these “story trailers” going around.

That said, I’m still interested in this (especially since I’ve been replaying San Andreas again), so I will keep my eye on it. I just hope the inevitable PC port won’t be the same trainwreck that the GTA IV port was.

  • http://twitter.com/ChestnutBowl Chestnut Bowl

I want all of this. It’s shame that we get yet another ‘Black guy as felon’ storyline, but all three stories look very interesting.

  • http://twitter.com/Luimango lulu M

    Liking it already.

I loved RDR, so Im hoping this will be great as well.

  • Nitraion

    That’s a Groove street O_o
    man that memories…
I guess this game make you choose story campaign first?

  • NightzeroAX

All trailers are good, especially in music choices. Buying day 1.

  • XiaomuArisu

    “You need a new therapist…”
If your own Therapist tells you that, your screwedXD

  • protofox

ok to sum this up micheal : midlife crisis rich guy, franklin: trying to make a living without being a gangster or getting killed. trevor: redneck with some..issues..and.. possible..drug use.
