    That seems… pretty unnecessary.

    • $36598391

      Why do you say that?
It looks like the Gamepad screen, when you are playing through the TV screen has a similar effect like the Dreamcast VMU did with
RE Code Veronica when it showed the characters health status

      • Akuosa

I said that because I don’t feel I’ve seen anything on that trailer that couldn’t be done perfectly fine on just one screen. We’ve been using maps on games for a while. This looks to me as if they were looking what to use the gamepad screen for, now that they had it, but nothing would be lost if it wasn’t there. That’s what I used the word “unnecessary”.

It happens with a number of DS/3DS games too, somethimes the dual screens are masterfully used and/or add something to the games or are really usefull (that bit at the end of 999, for example), and others…they just put a button to go to the menu there or something becuase they can’t very well leave it blank, but they don’t have anything to use it for.

The gamepad has a screen, so they used it for this, becasue well, they have to put SOMETHING there. Is it necessary? No… that’s why I said it seemed pretty unnecessary. I thought it was a pretty clear statment, really.

        • PreyMantis

It’s unnecessary to you, but it’s useful for those who has to share their TVs.

Actually, he is talking about the use of the map on the gamepad.
You would still need to be using the TV screen in conjunction with the gamepad to see the map in this fashion.

          • NeoNero7

Not really according to the trailer you can use the TV single screen, The Pad Single screen, or the Tv/Pad Dualscreen.

          • http://twitter.com/crxuchilbara MegamMix

I dont think people are upset or debating being able to use each screen for the game. I think it’s a matter of utilizing the game pad for more than just a map. Who knows, maybe they will add a scan like feature to the game pad ala Lego city that lets you scan rooms for zombies or makes it easier to find those hidden items

          • Akuosa

Excuse me, was this the gamepad presentation thread again? Are we discussing the usefullness of that screen or if it’s a gimmick again and I didn’t notice?

You don’t need a trailer to showcase that, that’s a thing the WiiU does with all the games and I’m not going to argue if that’s usefull. I thought we were talking about what features it has with this game. And for what I saw, it might as well not be there.

          • NeoNero7

Sounds like you have not played the orinial on the 3ds, and No as a wiiu owner I can tell you this now not all games on WiiU have that feature; ZombiU and Nintendo land dont have off-TV, neither did Monster Hunter3G untill the update. The only thing new is the miiverse option and frankly the trailer demonstrated you dont have to use the pad at all. Using the wiiu pro you can play it like the the ps3 and 360 counter parts, but because they dont have the pad screen the ps/xb will be at a disavantage after all the game was originaly MADE for dual screens. So wiiu is the better by default, and you cant call it a gimick either. Id rater look at the pad than have to pause my game, id rather tap n drag my puzzles like im supposed to rather than clunky slot controls with the sticks, id rather have all my wepons a tap way than the ever annoying weapon cycling, I dont want my screen cluttered will a mini map and all the crap that should be rightfully on the pad, I dont want to have to pause constantly just the veiw the entire map, In short id rather play the game on my console exactly like the original… just in HD. An only the wiiu can offer that.

            …aaaand you’re done for today, k bye!

        • yienwae

Did you play RE Revelations on the 3DS? If so, then I can understand if you had this opinion after playing it on the 3DS. But if you never played it on the 3DS, then you are making an unrealistic observation because this game was originally developed for 2 screens.

Could they have better utilized the second screen? Yes they could have, but this game was a release during the first year of the 3DS launch. The second screen interface was decent, but not extravagant. I must disagree on the single screen argument. Having the 2nd screen even for just mapping purposes enhances the game play. I do admit they could have done more with it , but I would not say it was ‘unnecessary’.

    • Otoya

Haha, I found it is kinda same as 3ds if play as dual screen.

  • Minos

Somebody took clases from Zombie U.

    • Mir Teiwaz

Or they took the functionality that was already present in the 3DS version and applied it to the gamepad when using both screens.

  • $39420547

    the Miiverse use is awesome

  • http://twitter.com/Dynamus_Lives My Little endy

If would have been cool if you could do Multiplayer between the 3DS and Wii U versions, but I’m picking this up anyway and replaying through it.

  • SetzerGabbiani

I like the Miiverse integration. Some cool things going on in there. Now just give me the option to use my powered weapons between all of the characters during story mode, I don’t care if I have to earn it by beating Infernal mode first…

  • XypherCode

Great use of Miiverse like in Ninteno Land and NSMBU. :)
I like how they attach Miiverse comments on zombies as speech balloons. xD

  • yienwae

I have the 3DS version of this game. I loved it. It does look similar to the set up on the 3DS. The additional stuff on here might not make it a first buy for me at launch, but I may eventually buy it during my summer lull if my finances permit.

What will make this a must buy for me is if the AI of your partner is improved. I often felt alone even when someone was with me because it seemed like my partner was only there as a distraction to the monster as opposed to actually doing any damage.

  • venomz09

like others are saying….the gamepad is more less just an uneeded gimmick.

revelations is a great game (i’ve beaten it on the 3ds about 5 times), but really it will play just find on tv’s.

    • Tonton Ramos

Mom: Do you know what time it is? my favorite show is coming up please stop playing…
Me: (sighs) *turns on gamepad feature* happy now mom?

  • alundra311

Does this game have wiimote+nunchuck support? Loved that control scheme for Resident Evil 4.

    • Sergio Briceño

Yeah, I would so love to use it instead of the PS3′s move alternative, because of the Miiverse integration and all.
