Sony are celebrating Gran Turismo’s 15th anniversary next week, and it sounds like they’ll be discussing the future of the series at their anniversary event in Northamptonshire, England. The celebration will take place on May 15th, and Sony provide a brief summary of what to expect out of it at the PlayStation Blog:

The event will be a celebration of all that Gran Turismo has come to represent to a community of millions all over the world, and will involve many of the car manufacturers who have been part of that incredible 15 year journey.

At the event, Kazunori Yamauchi will also be making some exciting announcements about the future of the brand.

Announcements from the event will be covered at the PlayStation Blog.

I like how they left the spot blinking after 5.

Hopefully they announce a PS4 title dated for 2016 as well

Hopefully a vita GT game gets announced. Also it better have a career mode this time >_>

Let’s hope it doesn’t turn out like GT on the PSP. It was fun, but with random cars available, no events or anything it was pretty boring.

If they are announcing the next Gran Turismo at this event for both PS4/PS3/Vita then I can only imagine how big the announcements at their E3 show must be if even this huge property worldwide, known to be a game that sells sony hardware, must be.

was hoping the next gran turismo would be coming as it provides excellent discussion material in side by side comparisons with 5za.

To be honest, Gran Turismo is the only racing game that really get my attention. I like other racers, but I tend to just stop playing some time later.

    I’m hyped

GT, Mario Kart, and the old Ridge Racer PS1 games are the only racers I like. Sadly I can’t play MK for long though because everyone finds out all of the course glitches and doesn’t want to play fairly after that.

Ridge racer!!!! Man i used to play the crap out of that game

  • Keima88

Launch titel for ps 4 I hope. But its GT you never know when it comes out.

    • sandra10

With Drive Club being a launch title, I wouldn’t expect it. They’re too similar and GT would overshadow it without a doubt.

    This I can’t wait for.

i kinda dumped GT after 4, and trying 5 and switched to forza 3,4,horizon.(far better sounds,DLC,and community) sick of GT having 30 models of the same car and every time i upgrade a car it sounds like a vacuum cleaner…my 650 horsepower mustang in GT4 sounded like an RC car -sadface-

    • ZEROthefirst

I know playing GT, the most realistic racing sim is sooooooooo bad. Let’s dump it and go play forza/need for speed so we can get the full effect of the sounds of a car. Who cares about the content, gameplay, online community, etc. somewhat more realistic sounds all the way…

      • protofox

i switched over to forza for more than just the sounds of car, so not sure why you only pointed that 1 element out, which in turn made my choice look dense. i chose forza over GT for more than just sounds,. the repeated car list in GT(same car, 10 diff. versions) got old, not being able to repaint, etc cars once bought. some of us like more car customization which forza offers and it had lots more DLC, all the cars had the same amount of detail( no “premium cars”) and a far more diverse car selection, and felt the community was treated better in terms of events, gifted cars and what not. so in the end to each their own. some want gt, some like forza, others both.

Betting on a GT collection or something for PS3 and a PS4 GT6 development announcement. Followed by a 5 year wait lol.

  • malek86

It would be nice to get GT1 and GT2 on PSN. Now that GT PSP has run its course, they don’t have to fear about people getting those ones instead.

  • Kioku

    I love GT! :)

I’m old enough to remember how Gran Turismo III-A Spec singlehandedly landed the Skyline (only known as R35…in America), WRX STi, and the Lancer Evolution…in America.

With that said, I sincerely hope SCEA would do a promo for its 15th Anniversary with Skyline R35 as THE grand prize and would go as far as making an arcade version for the next Gran Turismo game.
