Pokemon Tretta Lab for 3DS Is Being Developed At Marvelous AQL

By Ishaan . May 8, 2013 . 10:30am

Last year, Nintendo collaborated with Marvelous AQL to develop Pokémon Tretta, an arcade game where you collect “Tretta” (pictured above).

You scan your Tretta into the machine to call out the appropriate Pokémon, and then partake in a 3-on-3 battle once you’ve picked your party. If you win, the game gives you a new Tretta to add to your collection and use.

Now, Pokémon Tretta is headed to the Nintendo 3DS. The 3DS game is titled Pokémon Tretta Lab for 3DS, and is also being developed by Marvelous AQL. A Tretta reader device will be shipped for the game, although details on how the game works or differs from the arcade version aren’t available yet.

Pokémon Tretta Lab for 3DS is slated for release on August 10th for 3,800 yen.

It’s like pogs that require technology …

and seem to be pretty awesome.

I’m conflicted. On one hand, Pokemon. On the other… this can get expensive if you have to buy things like those.

Likely never coming out overseas without big changes, for obvious reasons.

I figured this would happen! …Except I thought it would happen for the Wii U. The NFC technology seemed like a perfect fit.

So actually I have no idea what is going on here, what just happened

    • Miss_Madness

They already have something like that for Wii U already.

We need something like this for Yu Gi Oh cards.

    Not bad

Damn I thought those were pogs at first glance. I was hoping for a righteous comeback.

Don’t know why a device should be needed since the 3ds as AR, but whatever the concept sounds interesting, but I don’t feel like splurging on a “card collecting” game again (yevon have I spent a lot of money on the PTCG)

All honesty, I’d prefer a coliseum/stadium on both Wii u and 3ds, after XY releases of course

They probably want you to own the Tretta and not just scan it off the internet. It makes collecting them more valuable or fun i guess.

  • Shane J

I’m hoping this gives an option to play the game for those who don’t own the Tettra. IE: like me lol.

Confirm not for english version but I still hope

      same

    …what happens if you lose?

  • Ben Sylvia

I’m assuming the Tretta reader being shipped with it won’t dispense more if you win.

Damn! Gotta learn japanese, FAST! Rosetta Stone doesn’t even help!

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

    I’d love a US release.
