Project X Zone Trailer Introduces The RPG’s Capcom Characters

By Ishaan . May 8, 2013 . 2:00pm

Project X Zone is slated for release in North America and Europe this Summer, and as previously detailed, it’s a strategy RPG featuring characters from Namco Bandai, Sega and Capcom. Today, Capcom shared a new video highlighting the Capcom characters that will be in the game:

Note that Capcom are not the publisher of Project X Zone. Namco Bandai will be publishing the game in North America in Europe. While a release date for the latter territory hasn’t been announced yet, North America and Latin America will get the game on June 25th.

I could buy a 3DS JUST for this game.

    • Then do it. Show Monolith Soft some love.

      • KuchikiSentou

Like, it’s not really about Monolith. Just look at the game. I’m generally, albeit, superficially what is inaccurately known as a Sony “fanboy”, but when a game is so good, so commanding. One just has to put aside her petty differences and do the right thing. I have a 3DS on my Amazon wishlist currently. Will pick up when the game comes out.
I’m mildly reminded of Soul Carnival 2, which is always a good thing.

Further, they are retaining original voicetracks which is rare and extremely titillating.

I am truly in awe of this game. Excited beyond merit.

        • Well you have an excellent backlog to play through. Especially if you consider yourself to be a gaming connoisseur. Or a dedicated gamer.Have you played Tales of the Abyss yet?

          • KuchikiSentou

            Nah, just saw the anime.

          • You need to get that game. Like now. Quickly. Oh and Virtues Last Reward/999

          • KuchikiSentou

Virtue’s Last Reward, I’ll play on VITA if ever. Project X Zone is an exceptional exception. I don’t think I want to actively indulge in two different consoles.

          • Its more suited to the 3DS, given the style and accessibility. And if you buy a system you will want games on it.

          • Herok♞

+ if you play 999 you would already be used to having a second screen for play.

          • KuchikiSentou

Lol, the VITA has games. That’s why I bought it. The only game I want to play on the 3DS is this one.

          • Im talking about your 3DS, you’re going to want to play games on it.

          • KuchikiSentou

See, that’s my dilemma. I don’t want to support 2 handhelds at once. I have only as much eyes and hands as needed. I certainly don’t wish to become Nintendo elite.
I tend to commit fully to an ideal. This particular trailer just rattled my resolve.

          • Anime10121

Play the game, imo best Tales game overall in the series. Vesperia has some of the best characters (Yuri, Rita, Raven) and Legendia has the best OST! But Tales of the Abyss is the best game overall, though you may likely disagree since the anime may have spoiled the plot, and overall character growth that is much slower in the game.

          • KuchikiSentou

Wait, is Tales of the Abyss part of the Tales of Xillia, Graces etc family?

          • No. Tales of the Abyss was made by the ToS team ( They did Vesperia and Symphonia. Symphonia is better than Abyss. But Abyss is wonderful. Team Destiny(Destiny/Rebirth Ect) and Alfa team( the ones who did Innocence and Hearts ) are the best teams in tales

          • Anime10121

Nah, unfortunately Tales of the Abyss is a standalone entry (wish it did have a sequel/prequel) as is Graces.

The only games in the series confirmed to be a part of the same universe are Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphonia. All the other entries are standalone wolds barring the direct sequels.

        • AnimusVox

There’s no shame in enjoying good games regardless of the system my friend. I’m proud of you for putting aside your difference for this game…So proud

          • KuchikiSentou

The good games have to be reaaaally good to break that barrier.
Otherwise, I usually content myself with what my platform of choice provides me. #stoical as opposed to hedonistic.

    • Anime10121

Exactly, do as @twitter-437082997:disqus suggests, besides the more money we give Monolith Soft, the more money they’ll have to put into that GORGEOUS looking Wii U Xeno game!

      • KuchikiSentou

Doesn’t Nintendo have money? The Wii is about to cross 100m units and 3DS cannot be stopped. (when MH4 comes out this handheld generation is essentially over)
I’d think that money would not be an issue. Was there ever any indication that the success of X Zone would determine the production of Xeno? If Nintendo want the WiiU to continue remaining relevant they WILL bring out the money, regardless of the success of this title. They paid for Bayonetta 2 and W101, so I doubt it’s relevant.

Like I said; this game is what I care about. Xeno looks nice but I’m a mere pedestrian to it.

        • Nintendo has enough money to weather through 3 real life disaster day crises

  • riceisnice

So, I always see flashy gameplay. But is the game itself great? I hear that when you get pass all the sparkles, the battle system is kind of sub-par.

    • Guest

The first one (Namco x Capcom) was miserable. Heard the same reports about this one. Monolith has different teams and they are far, far, far from equal.

    • NTaiyokun

It’s improved a lot from Namco X Capcom from what I’ve heard. There also tiny details in the battles that need to be utilized to do maximum damage. It’s also unique for a strategy game because one miss out of a hundred hits could determine whether or not the enemy survives.

    • LynxAmali

It’s an improved version of the SRW Endless Frontier battle engine, which in itself was an improved version of the NxC engine.

      Except with less FORCED EVASION!

  • Surgeon of Death

HELL YEAH! Amazon update the f**king page already.

    • Anime10121

What do you mean, Amazon’s had the preorder of the limited first run edition up for a while now, with box art and everything.

      • NTaiyokun

        Release date still August 31

        • Anime10121

Oh if thats what you mean, dont worry, I’ve been buying my games exclusively from Amazon for the past few years and 99.9% of the time, they release on time even if the product listing is wrong (which is sometimes wrong even the day before release), the only time I can think of any delay I got from Amazon would be for Ar Tonelico III, which for some reason was a week late, but then again, NisA kinda f’d its release up everywhere.

  • Sentsuizan_93

    My checkbox:
    3DS: check
    Wallet: check
    Body: Ready
    Bring it!!!

  • Vesperion

Could Chris’s magnum get any bigger?

    • NTaiyokun

      Vashryon must be jealous.

    • Nightmesh

      I don’t think it’s big enough. ifyanowatimsaying

      • AnimusVox

    • Nirun Rangraengjit

Tell that to Haken’s Nightfowl and his Longtomb Special.

    • vileBrenman

Well you should see it when he is excited.

  • I have a feeling that a lot of money goes to awesome video games this year. 2013, why you so amazing?

  • Anime10121

    Dat GAMEPLAY!!!

This game looks amazing as far as the battle systems concerned. The story may be crap (as is most crossover jrpg’s) but at least in this one, the gameplay looks fun! I’m extremely looking forward to this :D

  • Time Sage

That logo sound effect… takes me back to the days of SNES disney games

  • Migon

I have played the demos on my JPN 3DS and it’s so damn good! Just bought myself a EU 3DS XL to play it when it comes out here!

    • I had thought the release date for us would be 5th July – at least that was what it said when I pre-ordered online… unless that was changed! Can someone please confirm? :3

  • FJLink

I though it was announced for the 5th of July some time ago :|

  • Prinnydoom

Yet another game to crown the 3DS

  • Zonic505

Awesome, new English footage. Now hopefully Namco & Sega will make their own trailers showcasing their characters.

  • Just Tim

I was just watching the trailer for Team Capcom and caught this screen shot:

Really, Capcom, did you REALLY have to do this to Ryu when X was just on standby, especially given the recent maltreatment you gave the Mega Man franchise?

Admit it already Capcom, you want Nemesis to impale any Mega Man franchise reps.

    • Kaihedgie

Oh god, shut up already. We got the message about a hundred dozen times already. Mega Man isn’t in the spotlight.

Oh no, Nemesis finishes off Ryu. That must mean they’re torturing us! Seriously :|

    • Richard N

      I…. what….?

Your digging a little to deep there buddy, it’s just a trailer.

      • Just Tim

        @Richard N, @Kaihedgie

Yes, I was just being dramatic and practically exaggerating about the whole thing.

Besides, it’s really hard to live down something big.

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Ryu, MegaMan X and even Dante! However, my eyes are staring at something else.

    • Just Tim

Speaking of those characters, are the teams already pre-set or switchable?

      • Teams are switchable but they come in pairs. And pairs with other pairs offer boosts

        • Just Tim

Specifically, can I have Dmitri/Hsien-ko or Dante/Morrigan or somewhere along those lines?

          • I believe so yes.

          • J_Joestar

no, he can’t. Pairs are pre-set, only the third support character isn’t.

          • No you can’t. Paired up characters count as one unit. There are a few single character units you can switch between pairs tho. Dmitri is always with Dante and Hsien-Ko with Frank West and Morrigan with Chun-Li.

A single character would be for example Heihachi, who you can put into any of the pair units, for an additional attack with the right shoulder button. What I’m trying to say is Single characters aren’t “real” units but more like extra attacks for the pairs.

  • Sardorim

At least this, unlike RE6, has Jill in it…

Though it sucks that Sakura from Street Fighter isn’t in this.

  • I wish we would get a special updated version with one extra character for each company- Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac Man/ Klonoa

  • StarWarudo

Trying to decide between this or SMT IV. Damn you expenses!

  • raulrain

For me it`s more about the games than consoles, for games like this a fan of games buy a console, in this case a portable, the other example would be

    Shin Megami Tensei IV

3DS friggin’ rocks with all these RPGs this year, seriously. I hope Devil Summoner 2 Break Code is coming after SMT4.

Sucks big tho, that Capcom did’t give Namco any characters from Breath of Fire. Getting Ryu & Nina would’ve been beyond epic. Guess BoF is more dead than alive to Capcom.

    • Richard N

I would think so, it hasn’t had a new game in nearly a decade. I remember some company was pitching a new Breath Of Fire to Capcom though. Didn’t go anywhere obviously.

  • Richard N

I’m a little sad that decided not to get some shitastic dubbing like Chaos Wars. A legendary english dub to be sure.

Also, Shoryu, Focus Cancel to Metsu Hadouken. Sick….

  • Guest

I’m torn between this and Rune Factory 4

  • Yuriangels

Who in there right mind won’t get this game!?!

  • Chow

Gosh, that looks incredibly entertaining. I just don’t have time to play these sorts of games any more. ><

  • Go2hell66

Oh god nemesis what did you do to poor ryu’s face!

  • isfuturebright

I was just wondering about two things here:
    1. Does it have any breath of fire characters?
    2. Will the US version come with japanese voiceover?

    • Mr_SP

Japanese voiceover only, it seems. And no one from Breath Of Fire, either.

      • isfuturebright

Thank you, kind person. Sad to hear about the BoF news but glad it’s japanese voiceover. :)

  • fayt255

This game is a must buy for me with all the characters in it oh and its a Monolith Soft game!

  • Prinny Dood

Cant wait I preorder two limited editions
