Fire Emblem: Awakening Gets An Alternate Future DLC Map Today

By Ishaan . May 9, 2013 . 5:18pm

Fire Emblem: Awakening received a major DLC map today on the Nintendo eShop in North America. The “Future Past 1” map depicts a bleak alternate future where you have to rescue Cynthia, Kjelle, Noire and Nah, all four of whom are trapped in a prison.

If you’ve played Fire Emblem: Awakening through to the end, you’ll recognize this as the map that shows the alternate future in which only the adult characters’ children survived. As you’d expect, it includes special conversations between the parents and kids.

The “Future Past 1” map costs $3, but as per usual, you can purchase it as part of a larger Future Past Pack with three maps for $6.50. The Future Past 2 map is particularly interesting based on what we know from the Japanese version of the game. However, maps 2 and 3 won’t be unlocked for a little while longer.

6.50 dollar for 3 maps huh? Here in europe the price is 5.99 Euro = 7,81 dollar.

Oh wel at least its worth it I gues. Its been a while since I have spend over 130 hours at one game. Now playing a second round on hard mode with a female avatar just to check out the support conversations. ( I know looking it up on the internet is faster but I want to get that 100% support conversation on my game)

So in other words I will probally spend in total 67 euros for over 200 hours of gamefun.

Which means you’ll have to do a lot of playthroughs. Good luck, Fire Emblem comrade!

Fire emblem just keeps on giving man ^_^

    • Akuosa

Actually, we’re lucky they didn’t do their usual 1=1 conversion and charged 6.50€… :/

I’m still waiting for a DLC bundle of all the DLC maps. Then Nintendo can have my money.

    • benhofb

Apparently (I can’t remember who ran the story) all the DLC combined is another like 50 bucks. Maybe they will have a GOTY edition or something with all the DLC. XD

      • Sonny Oranga Taing

Yeah, I think season passes are generally not worth the money. But I think I would have actually gotten it for this game.

Nintendo doesnt do Game of the Year editions. They may put it in Nintendo Selects 3 years down the road though

    • Arrei

I wouldn’t hold my breath for one, personally. The maps are already divided into discounted bundles as they are.

      • Sonny Oranga Taing

You’re probably right. But I’m going to wait until I tire of fighting random risen spawn, which I somehow haven’t yet.

  • benhofb

Anyone else play the Persona-esque map yet? I thought it was hilarious fighting Shadow-Chrom…

  • Scipio

Damn shame I lost my copy, now I have to start all over with this new one before I even consider playing it.

  • Laith Rem

The conversation with the fathers are different for each character. This is one of the selling points.

    • IsaacGravity

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Ben Sylvia

Ah over 200 hours across 2 playthroughs.

But now Soul Sacrifice has my attention XD

    YAAAAAAY ITS HERE

  • Sardorim

    Ugh.

This is NOT the same future depicted in the game but yet another alternate future!

There are four Timelines in Awakening!

    Lucina Timeline
    Morgan Timeline
    Current Timeline
    Despair Timeline

Only Lucina Timeline is touched by Current Timeline in the main story. You only start to touch on the Morgan Timeline when you do Morgan’s paralogue and Morgan’s ending which states they’re from another Timeline from the other kids. Despair is not touched on at all in the base game unlike the other two Future Timelines.

Despair Timeline also has two Morgan’s in it while Lucina, Current, and Morgan Timelines only have one Morgan.

There’s also the possibility of Yen’fay being from his own Timeline as well but he could easily fit into Lucina’s Timeline either way.

    • Luna Kazemaru

And we are to understand this?

      • Suicunesol

It’s not that bad, really. Just remember that Morgan is evil in this chapter, and they’re a pair of twins.

        Actually, I thought this DLC chapter was Lucina’s future too… ^^;

        • Sardorim

It’s confusing, yes, but it’s its own Timeline with differences such as Two Morgans being the biggest one.

So if you do the DLC you end up saving…

Lucina Timeline – (Grima and Risen leave to chase Lucina to the new Timeline thus Lissa and the survivors can rebuild)
          Current Timeline – (Obviously)
          Despair Timeline – (This DLC)

From what Morgan says upon recruitment it’s hinted that their timeline was a peaceful one and Naga plucked Morgan, without their consent, to this Timeline while they were just earlier enjoying a walk with their Father/Mother.

          The jump fragmented Morgan’s memory.

Grima learns of this and sends Risen, which Morgan has never seen before their Paralogue, to the ruins to kill the “Future Child”. Why Grima wants to kill Morgan is unknown though it can be speculated that Grima feared that the MU/FeMU part of them would perhaps “awaken” or gain strength if they ran into their youngest child again.

From what we know of Lucina’s timeline is that Morgan isn’t treated as a hostile this we can assume that unlike Despair Timeline that Morgan does not side with Grima.

      • Sardorim

It isn’t hard. There are Four Timelines, the one in the DLC is its own Timeline and isn’t the same Future that Lucina, from the main game, comes from.

  • Linhua

… hmmm… I wonder what would happen if I took on this map… but have not married any couples… would they just give these kids some kind of default skill set and class…?

… because i’m probably the only person in the world who bought the game day one and on this day, still on my first play through and have only just recruited Lucina and married not one set of other characters but Chrom.
