Tatchikomas were my favorite characters in the show. One of them was even reading Flowers for Algernon. Such memories.

    • LustEnvy

Who the hell would downvote that?

      • Someone who doesn’t like Flowers for Algernon maybe?

  • Guest

ok, is this set as a prequel to the tv series? because in there motoko first met batou in the army, in the war… there is a flashback of that when Saito is telling a story….

    • doubleO7

Think of it like the new Tomb Raider. It stars a younger Motoko, and is an “origin story” of sorts, but it doesn’t necessarily tie in story-wise with any of the existing continuities.

  • Wow, this looks pretty damn awesome! I can’t wait!

  • Eliézer Dos Santos

Wait… Togusa? This was not a story about a younger Motoko? Togusa was the last one to enter in the group.

    • maruhadapurpurine

I just read in another forum that this has no connection to SAC or the movie or the manga, its yet again a new universe… damn when are they going to stop that bullshit and do a cohesive storyline? I am sick of watching ghost in the shell stuff and have to ignore the other ones I have already seen.

      • It’s like “Hey you saw all those arcs and stories? Fell in love with characters and had your favorites? Did you bond with certain characters and their background stories? Well forget all that while watching this.”

        • Zhizn Snake

I wish they could have just made an all new anime going off the inspiration of GitS rather than this. Then we’d have a whole new series to potentially love as well and not have to feel like the past things we love have been “erased” in a sense for modern times. The anime world desperately needs a NEW anime in the vein of the 90s megahits like GitS and Eva, getting the same thing regurgitated isn’t acceptable enough to me.

        • Bruce James Ingram

I’m guessing you don’t read alot of American comics then? They do that all the time!

          • Zhizn Snake

Just because they do it too doesn’t make it something OK in everone’s book, lol. Personally, that fact turns me off from reading comics more than anything.

          • So? I wouldn’t accept it there either. Makes no difference who does it, it shouldn’t be done. It’s not fair to the readers.

    • ZEROthefirst

Just found out that this is a re-imagining of Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell. I thought this was supposed to be a prequel to SAC… but nope, it’s another new universe.

  • Motoko is the star of new GiTS trailer?
Will Mario be the star of Super Mario Bros game trailer too?

    • Ric Vazquez

    • No, it won’t be Mario. The next game will have Mario as the star.

  • Man this brings back memories!, I’m all over it

That was some very fitting music. Looking good. After years of watching SAC, I finally saw the original movie and enjoyed that, so I’m looking forward to having s’more GitS in my life.

  • dragoon_slayer12

Hopefully this comes stateside sooner rather than later. I’m still waiting on Evangelion 3.33 to swing this way

    • LustEnvy

      The internet is your friend.

      • Marcus

    • If the turnover period for all the previous Rebuild movies is any indication, expect 3.33 some time next year.

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

Just a note about 3.33, there’s a major plot twist at the beginning and some moments that would make a yaoi fangirl happy.

      • dragoon_slayer12

I’ve seen the original series over 10 years ago and still remember it vividly. I love how 1.11 was, for the most part, a beautiful, accurate remake/sum up, and how 2.22 ran in a different course but made it as engaging as the original series. I can’t wait to see where they go with 3.33 and 4.44.

  • Zhizn Snake

The only response I honestly have… is that this is the first time watching something with the “Ghost in the Shell” name and not getting chills. Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the change in style, maybe it’s the lack of subtitles and understanding what they’re saying, maybe it’s just that I’m too “stuck in the past”, or all these things, lol. But I’ll still check it out when it releases.

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. Sooo another reboot. That’s… kind of meh? I dunno, maybe they felt they had done as much as they could with the GitSAC verse, but if we’re just getting another rethread what will make it different this time around? Actual Terrorist Motoko going AGAINST Sector Seven? It’s just like, how many stories can you tell about Motoko working at Sector Seven and showing what a dystopic future might look like?

  • Kelohmello

Oh man, that animation quality… So smooth. Reminds me of classic 90s movies, including the original Ghost in the Shell.

  • harmonyworld

    I shall actually watch this!
Looks interesting and I never turn down a good anime with women kicking ass and taking names!

  • harmonyworld

also, can someone get me the song, it’s so awesome!

  • qlint chesney

  • Vash bane

dang here I went about thinking it was a series. lmao

  • HPN

Huge dislike of the new art style. Kusanagi no longer is Kusanagi. It’s no longer Masamune Shirow.

  • I like her old look better, but I’m still happy we’re getting a new ghost in a shell movie. Motoko Kusanagi is one of my favorite female characters.

  • Marcus

Loved the show, it was one of my favorite animes. This looks really good, can’t wait to see it.

  • I’m still ambivalent about this… something about this trailer strikes me as very un-GitS. I’m going to need some more concrete details on the plot before I make up my mind.

  • LustEnvy

Watching this trailer, while listening to Cyberbird. Instant improvement. :)

  • Ron Hatcher

I’ll definitely have to get used to the new new look. But if the story stays true to its legacy then I really need to book a ticket to Tokyo.

  • Brimfyre

Seeing Motoko in motion, she certainly looks better than the art. Still, she doesn’t look like any of the previous Motoko’s I’ve come to know and love. While I’m sure she will win me over, I still hope her body gets completely decimated by the end of the movie and the last few minutes reveal her new upgraded body that looks more like what we are used to.

It would be a nice twist.
