Starship Damrey Writer And Designer Explain Their “No Guide” Approach

Footage of Level 5’s Guild 02 game The Starship Damrey has been scarce. The suspense adventure game is available on the Nintendo eShop now, but in case you want to take a closer look before you decide to spend the $8 on it, you can watch a trailer above, which shows writer Takemaru Abiko and game designer Kazuya Asano discussing the game and their goal to something that evoked nostalgia but also felt new.

“Back in the day, games didn’t give players much to go on, and you could get stuck right at the beginning,” Abiko explains. “That’s kind of what we were going for on this project.”

The Starship Damrey is available in both North America and Europe today.
