Pikmin 3 To Have Four Different Control Schemes

By Ishaan . May 17, 2013 . 8:02am

Pikmin 3 will feature a number control schemes, Nintendo announced via a Nintendo Direct presentation this morning. These are:

  • Wii U GamePad in conjunction with TV
  • Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk
  • Wii U GamePad for off-TV play
  • Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck w/ GamePad

In that last mode, the Wii U GamePad will act as a second screen in addition to your TV.

New to the game are three new playable characters—Alph, Brittany and Charlie, who recruit the Pikmin creatures to help them gather fruit. Returning with the seeds of this fruit will help save their home planet, Koppai.

You’ll be able to divide tasks up between the three characters and explore separate areas of the same map using different groups of Pikmin.

Pikmin 3 will be released on August 4th in North America and July 26th in Europe.

So they came from a different planet than Olimar. You know what this mean…

This must be a precursor for the next Pikmin game! INTERGALACTIC PIKMIN WARS BETWEEN HOCOTATE AND KOPPAI.

    Must… have… pikmin…

    • It sound like you want to eat them >_<
I imagine they taste like… earthy, gummy bears *_*

Normally, I would be offended by the accusation you have implied in your post…

But gummy bears are pretty tasty…

        must…. have…. pikmin…..

Finally a reason to own the Wii U. Hopefully one of these schemes has the C-Stick formation commands.

I look forward to cute pikmin noises. :K

I wonder if the game pad will be used in any unique way though.

What they have shown so far is its usage as a mini map that allows for overview of the map in real-time and limited “click to move there” based control of the 3 characters through it.

I don’t expect more than that(depending on how MultiPlayer works) But I think that is pretty interesting.

still not enough reason (and money) to purchase WII U lol.
I’m more excited abut Bayonetta news on WII U.

I’ve never played Pikmin. Someone, convince me why I should give it a try.
