A new One Piece game is in development for the Nintendo 3DS, according to this week’s Weekly Shounen Jump magazine—One Piece Unlimited World: Red.

No further details have been announced, but Game Jouhou, who reported the news, speculate that it might be connected to the One Piece: Unlimited Cruise series developed by Ganbarion.

Time skip characters? International release? I NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS!!

    • VietKnight

Since Unlimited Adventures came to NA and the other series haven’t I will probably be a no for us in NA mostly JPN and PAL but don’t know if the others came out in PAL region, :'(

      • Highasthesky

I think unlimited cruise special(?) made it to Europe >_>
and i’v noticed a lot of the games i want make it to Europe.
If the 3DS wasn’t region locked i’d just buy the DAMN GAME FROM EUROPE!…so yeah i hope we get it here in the states :)

        • thelmas

in europe we got unlimited cruise 1, 2 and SP so it probably will be relased here. it’s just that NA is much less into manga then europe is

        • Bandai Namco butchered the game for the UK. They split the game into two games secretly a few weeks before releases. They also typo’d the game’s title on the box.

          • Solomon_Kano

They split the 3DS game up? Ehhh, I’d take that over not getting them at all.

          • TheExile285

Yeah I agree. Getting nothing sucks >_>

          • Solomon_Kano

Exactly. I can buy one game, I can buy two, but I can’t buy nothing lol.

  • FJLink

I’m pretty excited with this. Hope it’s the third/fourth? game in the series :]
I never got a chance to play Adventure, but the Cruise games were great. I spent over 300 hours on them if I recall correctly.I’m a bit concerned about the controls, though. Lots of people said they were better on Wii.

  • And another game that will never come to the USA.

    • Why not? Namco have been publishing their recent OP games in the West.

      • TheExile285

They published the two PS3 games. One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP is announced for Europe and everything else has gotten the shaft

      • Solomon_Kano

You mean by bringing us Pirate Warriors? Ehhhh, I wouldn’t really take that to mean anything.

Mind you, we’ve gotten pretty much every spin-off/crossover of Musou. I’d think it has more to do with that cross-section with the Musou fanbase than Namdai trying to show any support for One Piece.

To further that point, apart from the Musou games (of which, all were localized), we haven’t seen a Gundam game from Namdai since the PS3’s launch. One Piece looks to be the same, with the exception of that Europe-only release for Unlimited Cruise SP/2 on 3DS — which itself only saw release because they’d previously translated the Wii versions, so they didn’t have much additional work to do.

    • TheExile285

yeah and its a damn, damn, dammed shame

    • Warboss Aohd

i dunno, One Piece haz returned ta Toonami, wit fairly good ratingz from wot i heard, an’ it’s fer da 3DS.

chancesz might be likelier den ya fink.

      • XYZ_JolteonZ980

One week of ratings on a day that the ratings were way lower than usual, its barely even at bleach level and look at how many bleach games came out of JPN…

  • Sephiroth420

well theres only one thing for it, learn japanese and go over there, hell thats what im gonna do, its some bullshit how we dont get certain games over here because companies cant be assed or dont want to pay for it to be sold over here, im sure a world wide release for every game would ensure them making more money than they ever possibly could in just one part of the world

  • Kalis Konig

Not getting my Hopes up for an international release.

  • There is no such as too much One Piece. Not at all ಠ_ಠ.

  • Suicunesol

So the screenshot above is not from the game? I didn’t see it in the link, so I’m guessing it’s a pic from another One Piece game.

    • That’s from Unlimited Cruise.

      • Suicunesol

Hm, should have guessed due to lack of aliasing… thanks.

  • Auvers

Ugh not another one of these. One Piece Unlimited Collectathon

  • Prinny Dood

Ill buy this if it come over

  • Greg

I haven’t heard any good ratings from the last game, even though I was hoping it would since I’m a big One Piece fan. I doubt this game will be any different, but still hoping once more.

    • British_Otaku

The reception of Unlimited Cruise SP was largely based on the game being split in two. I would recommend the Unlimited series in general, but be prepared to grind to make, fish, mine, explore, bug catch, make weapons, make costumes and so on.

It will keep you busy and be full of fanservice absent in even the later One Piece games following Adventure or Cruise.

      • Greg

Forgot for a minute that the game was split in two, and the game sounds like Monster Hunter which I’ve been playing a lot of recently. Not sure if it would appeal to me since I was kinda hoping for it to be action overall, but ok.

        • British_Otaku

There is plenty of action in the Unlimited series so far, with the core focus being “I’m on an island or a lot of islands, I need to explore while beating up lots of marines, pirates, zombies and familiar foes” but you are ultimately picking up drops so that you can progress in the game from story progression (You need certain items for progress) to if you want Nami to have the Perfect Climatact (the weapons based characters will depend on them quite a bit).

I would say in the first one (Adventure), Nami and Franky aren’t viable options at the beginning, though Nami becomes a very capable mid range especially if you set up clouds and draw lightning from them.

If you want an excuse to beat up people straight up, you are still free to go and do so. Bosses in Adventure can be faced again after finishing the game or you can use them in the other modes (Multiplayer and An Enemy Rush mode). The game more or less lets you use every character in the game outside of story, though damage is rebalanced and you can’t use items in battle (ranges from making Luffy’s punches explosive to Usopp’s shots on fire to healing and revival items).

          • Greg

I’m now interested in trying the game for myself. If the game is as good as you said, then I’ll look forward to the new game(hoping it gets localized) and see what it delivers.

    • FJLink

Like British_Otaku said, the 3ds port/compillation of Unlimited Cruise was butchered in Europe, being split in two games again. Also, that version didn’t have the versus mode from Wii, so you were paying 40€ for games that came out 3 years before with less content, (and worst controls, something I think they will fix with this one) hence the low ratings.

Metacritcs and other scoring sites didn’t even have games that weren’t released US listed until not long ago, so people from across the pond probably didn’t know about the scores the Wii games got:

Forgot for a minute that the game was split in two. Well if thats so, it’s easy to understand why the game got the ratings it did. Hmm that site does have a better rating for the game than Metacritic. Ok, I think I’ll look forward to hearing more about the new game then.
