They’re whipping up a whole new soundtrack for A Realm Reborn? That strikes me as perhaps unnecessary expense. I heard many rotten things about the original, but never that the audio was sub-par.

Then again, What do we know Square Enix for if not lavishing it’s games with unnecessary expense?

except that those who played the original hated the game but loved the soundtrack, also what’s the point on using the exact same soundtrack for a world that was “reborn” ?

Also its not unnecessary expense if people like the soundtrack and buys it, along with the tickets to Distant Worlds

Well for ARR there are new zones, situations, and etc; which calls for new music to paint the mood. This is no different than every expansion for FFXI including its own separate soundtrack.

In fact, 2.0 ARR will include a blend of both the launch and new soundtrack in game. So we wont be losing Nobuo’s work for this game.

    • Crevox

It’s a new game. There WERE complaints about the old audio, but either way, it’s a new game. The new game will still use some of the old audio regardless.

I loved everything about XIV after the free era. Especially exploration and the soundtrack. If you’ve seen the Alpha videos on Youtube, you’ll see and hear how much has changed and how much of the music (which is all amazing) is new.

Released on BD? I wonder if that’s necessary. Could anyone give an possible reason why?
edit: oh wait it has a trailer on it, never mind…

TOO LONG HAVE I WAITED…but at last, 1.0’s soundtrack is being released in FULL! fuck yes

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

An OST in a Blu-Ray disc? That’s… kind of cool. It’s more futuristic that way :P

    • And also accrues less collectible damage/fatigue.

  • Charles

As a person who has a collection of imported game OST’s will the code work with the English version of the game?

    • <— Also wants to know about this. =)

      • Yuta Takemoto

        Me too!

    • powerlessbump

Probably not. Codes are used through the SE account system and I’m guessing, much like XI are tied to the region of your game.

  • Crevox

    It’s spelled Dalamud

  • Rudy Soto

    That is so cute.

  • niwaar

Can anyone translate the text there? The article clearly says its being released in August but the picture clearly has 12/31/2014 as a date for something.

  • DyLaN

There is no way my Dalamud can be this cute.
