Shadow of the Eternals Kickstarter Closes; Will Be Re-launched Later

Precursor Games, the studio behind episodic horror game Shadow of the Eternals, have decided to temporarily end the game’s crowdfunding campaign and refund all of the funds accumulated to their respective contributors.

Shadow of the Eternals was pitched as a spiritual sequel to Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, a Gamecube game developed by Silicon Knights and published by Nintendo. It was being worked on by ex-Silicon Knights staff, and despite the best efforts of its developers, the crowdfunding campaign for the game failed to convince people to back it.

“Since we announced this Kickstarter campaign we have seen more support from our community than we had ever hoped for,” Precursor Games wrote in a notice on the Shadow of the Eternals Kickstarter page.

“Along with this support has come a host of a new exciting opportunities that will make the game better than we envisioned. As a result, we have chosen to temporarily take down the Shadow of the Eternals crowdfunding campaigns on both Kickstarter and our own website on Thursday, June 6.”

The Kickstarter campaign will be re-launched in “just a few short weeks” Precursor say, alongside the reveal of the aforementioned exciting new developments. Meanwhile, the game’s forums will remain open to allow fans to keep interacting with one another and contributing to the game.

i have been wondering about this for a while now, everyone in this game has normal realistic hair style so why does only the women in red have super saiyan hairstyle?

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Because that’s what she looked like In real life. Dracula’s Wife.

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

Because red is too awesome of a color to use on an average haircut. According to game developers.

    • Because… that is what noblewomen actually looked like in Renaissance-era Europe?

    • Why have I never seen anyone other than me mention Bride of Frankenstein? Saiyans aren’t the first ones to have hair styles that look like the result of an electric shock… lol

I think they might have found a publisher to back them up financially. In fact, I think the main objective for this Kickstarter was to get some attention and perhaps a publisihng deal. It is not bad, but I do hope a good game come out of this.

Lets hope it does. Eternal Darkness is by far the most unique horror game I played. Love the Hp Lovecraft(ish) charm of the game.

    • This sounds very plausible.

Eh? More support from fans than they hoped for? They asked for $1.3 + million dollars…they obviously hoped for more than they actually got seeing as they got far less than even half of that.

Yeah I know, he’s speaking PR speak, but still…come on there guys.
