Diablo III Announced For Xbox 360; Will Be Released This September

By Ishaan . June 6, 2013 . 11:50am

Diablo III was announced for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 at Sony’s PS4 press conference a few months ago, but the game is also headed to the Xbox 360, Blizzard revealed this morning.

The console version of Diablo III will include all of the updates released for the PC version, and will cost $60. It will also support both local and online co-op play.

The game will be available on September 3rd for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the U.S., Canada, Spanish-speaking Latin America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. A PlayStation 4 release date has not been announced yet.

Blizzard say that release details regarding retail availability in Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia, will be announced at a later date.

  • I feel the PS4 version will be superior so i’ll be waiting for that one

  • I have no urge to rush out and get a PS4 at launch, so I am glad to know that I will have options to choose from. Now the question is, will there really be a difference between the two versions…

The game only looks slightly sharper on the PC version so it’s not like the console version of Crysis 3 compared to the PC one.

      • Ah, well, I was more so stating about differences between the two console versions. Diablo 3 and I have a bit of a hatred for one another on PC. I cannot play it as it keeps invalidating my login information, forcing me to reset my password… Over and over again.

  • Bloodios

I’m actually surprised that it wasn’t announced for the X1.

Maybe Microsoft will pull them up ad their Stream and announce Diablo 3 coming to Xbox one

        This is my guess too.

Judging from the history of console launches, there’s bound to be not much/no difference between PS3 and PS4 versions.

      launches history?
Heavenly Sword graphics are so much better than God of War 2 IMO.. which history u talking ?

      • ndjn3979

You are talking just graphic quality, between two games of separate consoles. You are right in your point.

I was talking about overall game design, the extent a game utilizes its console’s resources, as well as the developer’s understanding of the console and inspiration in doing something meaningful with what they have.

In that regard, which game is better? Heavenly Sword, or DmC? They are by the same developer, but developed in different periods of a console’s life.

What I mean to say is that Blizzard’s understanding of the PS4 at launch is bound to be much lesser than that of a time down the road. Thus, Diablo 3 (PS4) is more likely than not to be just a prettier (and even that I doubt it, knowing Blizzard, but that’s another issue) version of Diablo 3 (PS3), with very little, if any, gameplay innovations/differences.

I wish this would be released sooner. August/September has too many games that I want to play.
