Forgotten Memories Horror Game Headed To Wii U And PS Vita

Forgotten Memories is an indie horror game that’s been in in development for over a year now. It initially started out as an iOS-only project, but is now headed to the Wii U and PS Vita as well, with a release planned for this Summer. Here’s an old work-in-progress trailer of the iPad version from a few months ago that gives you an idea of what it will feel like:

 

 

Forgotten Memories is being developed by Psychoz Interactive on the Unity engine. The game takes place in an old isolated hospital that was built in 1910 and closed down in 1979. You play as Rose Hawkins, a clever inspector trying to solve a murder and searching for a missing girl at the same time. She’ll be joined by her partner and the girl she’s been searching for.

 

The game described as a mix between modern and classic survival horror games. Gameplay details are scant, but Psychoz Interactive say you’ll need to rely on teamwork with your group to get through the game.

      Most likely because of development costs (cheaper to become a developer for either of those 2 platforms compared to say, PS3 or 360)

        But then they may as well have done a 3DS version. I don’t know what it costs to get to working on Wii U, but I believe the 3DS is even cheaper to get licensed for than the Vita. But, yea, Kuchiki seems to have the right idea.

          Its probably a ps mobile game in wich case there is no license fee anymore .. Sony dropped the 99$ fee

        That actually makes sense though. To me at least. Vita and Wii U are very far apart in power, not as far as PS4/Xbox One, but still pretty far. Wii, PS2 and PSP were closer together.

      Forgot what it was but something was once developed for 360, Wii and PSP. That’s a combination made in hell.

      Porting to thoses consoles is probably much more easy because they both have touch screens.

        So why not Wii U and 3DS then? Or 3DS and Vita. Wii U and Vita just strikes me as an odd combo, though KuchikiSentou’s probably right as to why that is.

          Maybe because 3DS currently doesn’t have Unity support and the game itself runs on Unity.

            Not that 3DS doesn’t support Unity but more like the Unity engine has not been optimized to cover the 3DS.

      Not really. The game is being built on Unity for iOS. Wii U is extremely easy to port Unity games to, since Nintendo had Unity develop a Wii U-specific version of their engine. And Vita now supports Unity, too, so it can’t be much harder to port to that platform either.

      You know what amuses me?

      I knew someone back when (we had an odd nickname for her, don’t ask what it was) but her breasts basically did the same for the most part, not to the same level but pretty much seemed to have that consistency.

    Kind of obvious why they put it on those systems. Makes me suspect the game’s quality, though.

      Same. Did you watch that trailer? At the battle with the monster towards the end there are quite a few issues. For one, that room is not well-designed for an action sequence, which can be seen with 1) not being able to reach the door without absolutely getting hit by the monster, and 2) when she does get hit is stuck against the wall (which is always an extremely frustrating occurence for any game). And 3) when she fires the gun at it, it hardly looks like there is any sort of damage detection.

      If you access their channel there’s a more recent trailer. The game looks a lot more polished. My only worries is that, as this game was designed for the Ipad first, the game will either be too short or too easy.

        I dunno about that. More games are never a bad thing, indie or otherwise.

          Take the PSV as an example then, it’s gotten a very healthy influx of Indie games in these past 6 months. Then look at the sale numbers in the West: still mediocre and the only “spike” (if you want to call it that) was because of SS. People buy consoles to play AAA games, indies are ok. But they aren’t anywhere near system seller material. At most they are games to avoid a drought between releases of heavy hitters, but neither Sony nor Nintendo users bought the PSV / Wii U to play indie games~.

            If the games perform well, it doesn’t matter if the system sells a billion in two days.

            It’ll get more AAA games. They just take time. Which no one has any patience for and whines about constantly. (and I’m sure 90% of them don’t buy them when they do come out anyway)

    Sweet! No way in h-e double hockey sticks that rumor about “Resident Evil Tall Oaks” for VITA is true. Namely the fact Capcom and VITA don’t exist in the same dimension.

    This is the next best thing to dat RE feel. ^^

    Being a horror fan I “might” have to buy this. The newest build looks pretty decent and if they improve the combat a little bit then it’s a guaranteed purchase.

      It’s required…

      Except for free games, they used to not be able to have them at all. Now they can (hence trophy patches for a few of them later, and them coming with them now).

      Not sure if they’re required for free games, but this doesn’t look like it’d be free anyway.

    My goodness this game looks like it would play so much better with actual controls on them…

    I’ll give it a shot. Hmm… Guess I’ve been warming up to horror games lately.

    Mainly because of gameplay mechanics and just the general interest in the stories… Still really hate that sensation of paranoia though. Don’t know why some people enjoy that. I’m guessing the thrill…

    Nintendo Eshop too. The stuff you find there certainly isn’t shovelware like Xbox Live and Apple App Store, and more like PSN. Very good choice of platform.

    You do know, with a bit of research, you begin to realize that XBLA is a horrible environment for indies…
