By Ishaan . June 10, 2013 . 11:59pm

Neither Arc System Works nor Aksys have announced BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma for release in North America yet, but the game has an English trailer, complete with an ESRB notice up on the PlayStation YouTube account:

Not surprising at all, but a pleasant revelation all the same. Hopefully it’ll come out shortly after it does in Japan like previous installments.

  • DAT Bird From DAT Cage

It says Aksys Games right at the beginning of the trailer. Oh well…I really wished Aksys could have brought a Vita game over… why is there no love for the Vita? I feel like we live in different realities

    • TheExile285

There’s a lot I want I to say about Sonys conference and how they dealt with Vita but I’ll refrain since it would be like a huge book.

Anyway, Vita announcement for this would not happen at something like TGS or maybe even Jump Festa. That being said….. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Vita gets CP in some form (maybe CP with DLC characters free like CSII?). BlazBlue is my favorite fighter ATM and I play CSE daily on my Vita.

I will be buying CP on PS3 but only because I can’t wait for a port that might not happen. If and when it does get ported, I will buy it in half a heartbeat just to have it on my preferred platform.

Edit: Maybe PS4 will get an updated version and Arc will port that to Vita too. Hopefully…

  • pantsonadog

So..Any word on if this is a PS3 exclusive outside of Japan?

  • ResidentMetroid

I hope it’s not just for PS3 for the west.

  • OkamiKing

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEA!!!! DC DOUGLAS AZRAEL! MY BODY IS READY!

    • TokkanRAM

      COMPLETE! GLOBAL! GOMIKUZU!

  • TheExile285

Best news for me all day

  • Solomon_Kano

    @Ishaan

I’ll just assume you didn’t actually watch the trailer then lol. Interestingly enough, it is published by Aksys.

    • Lacie

Yeah, but I think he’s saying they haven’t made any actual announcement that they’re bringing it over to the U.S.

      • Solomon_Kano

I suppose, but I mean… wouldn’t be an announcement trailer then?

  • DemonicX

That English trailer came out a while back though, right? I remember this trailer, but can not remember if it was in Japanese or not. Considering that they didn’t show true Yuki Terumi or Kagura, I’m thinking this English trailer had to be released a while back. Either way, I wonder if we’ll hear anything from them later today?

  • Go2hell66

Thats just the arcade opening, why is aksys so lazy

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

It’s good enough to instill the hype. This trailer doesn’t stop being awesome, no matter how many times you see it.

  • Tonton Ramos

Why… haven’t you… joined Sony… on E3 by releasing this Ark Sys? that game could pull a punch on Xbox’s Killer Instinct… (Pardon me guys… :I)

    • Dominic St-Jacques

Maybe they felt it wouldn’t appeal to the target audience of E3. If you look at it, all games that were shown were ”movie-like”, maybe they thought the anime artstyle would be out of place compared with everything else.
Though it is infinitely better than Killer Instinct, no doubt about it.

  • Vash bane

nu 13 art thou I see?

  • Rini11

I really hope the second game will be Fate Extra CCC

    • The Watcher

      lol

  • MrJechgo

Don’t wanna sound like a jerk or anything, but I think I’ll wait a year or 2 before buying it. Why? You know how CS early adopters got screwed over when CS Extend came out? Yeah, I kinda suspect ASW to release an updated arcade version with any console-exclusive character, be added normally or by DLC, and then re-release it on console, with that extra content, possibly for a discount price of 40$ instead of 60$.

Just for a little reminder to all, Continuum Shift was released on arcade, then on consoles with 4 extra characters: Mu-12, Makoto Nanaya, Valkenheyn R. Hellsing and Platinum the Trinity, the last 3 being DLC characters for 7$ each. A year later, they released CSII, an updated arcade version with these 4 extra characters, which they also released for 3DS and PSP as retail. CSII also added arcade modes for the 4 characters. Six months later, ASW released CS Extend in arcades, with a rebalance patch AND a new character, Relius Clover. The console version followed, at 40$, for PS3, X360 and Vita, as retail only. The catch was that not only the 3 DLC characters were included, but story mode chapters were also added for them and for Relius, something that CSII didn’t have.
So, it was either that you have paid 60$ plus 21$ for the DLC without arcade mode and story mode, or paid 40$ only with all 3 DLC characters, a brand new character, with their own arcade modes AND story chapters. That is what I meant by “screwed over”. I didn’t own a PS3 when CS came out, but I did when Extend came out.
So yeah, I’ll propably wait for an Extend version before buying it.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

That’s why in Japan… you go to the arcades!!! Well… that’s what I would assume besides buying the console port hehe. Of course you also mention the exclusive story content on the console ports…
I was going to buy CS, but I didn’t feel like paying full price. I even bought some DLC when it was on sale lol. Then CS Extend comes out. Well not sure if I can even buy this when it’ll come out either.

    • Sergio Briceño

HHmm… If Guilty Gear is any indication you will be waiting a LOT of time. One thing is for sure though, each entry has major gameplay differences and followers. Like how the original GGX was popular well in the GGXXBB era and some just (no matter how unique) don’t get as popular like GGI (and this is considering the main entries, because the list is rather long).

Point being, I wouldn’t wait a year. I’d wait until I’m SURE is the best version so far. Don’t get seduced by the fans, you know they will buy it in “half a hearthbeat” and that isn’t necessarily a good idea. If you wait 2 years though you will be way TOO late for the party.

Remember is a console fighting game, we are not kids anymore and these aren’t the golden years of fighting games. You may not like it but online multiplayer is the way to go and unless you have some friends willing to wait with you and that live close by I don’t think it will even be worth a purchase in 2 years. So don’t rush your decision.

      • MrJechgo

“Too late to the party”? The FGC switched from CS to CS Extend the moment in came out. They literally deserted CS completely. You wanted to play online with CS? Well tough luck, they all left for Extend.

    • Fidelis

Everybody know’s it’s going to happen. I’m just going to buy it for the story and resell it before the value drops

    • Herok♞

Dude screwing over early adopters is when you release a game for $60, then you make the next version come out not even a year later with a bunch of extra content for $40 more(I am talking about MvC3/UMvC3 here). I am perfectly fine with paying $40 for a game in 2010 and maybe $7 for a dlc character or two(seriously read up on the process of how these characters are made they aren’t cheap), and then 2 years later paying another $40 for a ton of extra content.

  • Surgeon of Death

    BADASS MUSIC!

  • Alexander Marquis Starkey

No matter how many times I watch this trailer, it doesn’t stop being awesome.

  • Aristides

I guess this is a playstation exclusive? Not that i mind

  • Elvick

Yay~ Wish it were coming to PS Vita too. I bought all the games on PS3 and PSP/Vita where applicable.

Would do it again here. Maybe in the future we’ll see it on Vita, until then… PS3~

  • Dominic St-Jacques

Dammit, I thought it would be a real trailer, not just the arcade intro…I really wanted to hear the english voices for Bullet, Azrael and Amane…and maybe Kagura.

  • Guest

hope they have english voices…always prefer them

  • French

needs english voices for me to play

  • Kevin Schwarz

Wonderful! Just what I wanted to know!

  • Ni

So no 360 this time around?

  • RichyGaming

In all honesty, I already knew this game was releasing to the U.S.

  • artemisthemp

    CS adopters:
    60$ for the game
7$ for Makoto, useable in Training, Score Attack, Trials and Versus only
7$ for Valkenheyn, useable in Training, Score Attack, Trials and Versus only
7$ for Platinum, useable in Training, Score Attack, Trials and Versus only
(The main problem is that the DLC characters weren’t useable in every single player mode)

    CS Extend adopters:
    40$ for the game
0$ for Makoto, useable in Arcade, Story, Score Attack, Abyss, Training, Trials and Versus
0$ for Valkenheyn, useable in Arcade, Story, Score Attack, Abyss, Training, Trials and Versus
0$ for Platinum, useable in Arcade, Story, Score Attack, Abyss, Training, Trials and Versus
0$ for Relius, useable in Arcade, Story, Score Attack, Abyss, Training, Trials and Versus
0$ for Abyss mode, new trials, rebalance, new Unlimited Score Attack, new Unlimited movesets and a brand new story chapter that recaps CT
    Please, do the math.

  • MrJechgo

Don’t go crying to me if a cheaper version comes out with extra content that you had to pay for separately.
I’m not saying it’s a bad game, I’m saying that it’s a bad idea for me to be an early adopter.

  • XiaomuArisu

    BBCT for PSP
    BBCS for PSP
    BBCSEX for PS3
    I regret nothing!

  • MrJechgo

You were indeed clear for CS… but it’s CP we’re talking about here. I got CSII for 3DS and CSEX for PS3.

  • MrJechgo

Not caring about online, so that doesn’t matter to me much… Even then, playing CS online isn’t the same as playing Extend online, due to the new characters and rebalance.
The thing is… people got ripped off when Extend got announced for consoles. They didn’t get a digital upgrade, similar to how SSFIVAE could have been upgraded if you already own SSFIV. You didn’t get a refund if you already purchased the DLC characters.
NOTHING like that was offered to CS early adopters. They didn’t offer Extend as an upgrade for 20$, or 10$ if you already got the characters. They didn’t give people a choice.
It’s like the Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition, which had all the DLC costumes and characters included for 40$.
Yes, you get your money’s worth for a while, but after that, it becomes obsolete. BTW, I just told my honest opinion about CP, I didn’t force anyone to follow my example.

  • Herok♞

Blazblue CS was $40 at launch not $60
