By Ishaan . June 10, 2013 . 10:36am

Dead Rising 3 is coming to Xbox One, Capcom announced this morning at Microsoft’s E3 press conference. The game takes place three days after a massive outbreak in Los Perdidos, California.

Siliconera first revealed Dead Rising 3 in 2011, when we reported early details of the game, including its protagonist and supporting characters. Capcom described Dead Rising 3 as an open-world zombie game. You’ll be able to hop into cars and drive around the game’s world to explore.

Dead Rising 3 will also support SmartGlass features.

btw if anything, i heard some rumour about MS paying developers to show only the Xbox1 version of their games in E3 to make it sounds like an exclusive.

this smells like one of those

    • fireguardiancoty

That’s exactly what it is. I’m sure the majority of titles that are shown are multiplat.

    • HerosLight

Yeah, I don’t know how Dead Rising 3 would be XboxOne exclusive when the other two games aren’t exclusive.

      • dragoon_slayer12

1, case zero, and case west are 360 exclusives. 2 and 2+ (can’t remember the name) weren’t. So if it stays as exclusive, I see it as proper respect (although I hate that it’s revealed as exclusive, timed ornot)

        • evilmajikman

There was a port of 1 on the Wii though…

          • dragoon_slayer12

I forgot about that for a reason, thank you very much. ^_^
Seriously though, it was forgettable. Dumb down AI, graphics took a major hit, on screen zombies went from 100 to 20 (exaggeration of course).

  • Mecha_the_Hedgehog

What happened to Dead Rising why has it turned all brown and grey and
where was the funny stuff like putting servebots on Zombies heads and
doing wreslting moves on Zombies. It looks cool but the absurdity is
what got me into the game in the first place.

    • ffboi7

yeah i just noticed that too. It became a serious game :/ Dead Rising is basically Resident Evil now with DR3.

    • dragoon_slayer12

With the cliffhanger in Case West, as long as they address it, I don’t mind the serious tone. But watch, wait till you enter the toy store, you’ll get you mega man fix then. XD

    • Hraesvelgr

I’m really not sure we’ve seen enough of the game to say they’ve gotten rid of the crazy stuff. If they took either one of the first two games and showed off just some short, story-related gameplay, then I doubt they’d come across as anything less than serious.

The lack of color is a good point, though. I don’t think every little thing in the game needs to be bright and colorful, but if the game world is as large as they say it is, hopefully there are at least some areas of it that are.

  • ffboi7

So sad that this is Xbox One exclusive…….. Oh well we probably only gotta wait 6-8 months for Capcom to re-release it

  • DarthSithZero

Wait for Dead Rising 3 Arcade Edition for PC & PS4

    • Richard N

This, if it’s anything like any other Capcom exclusive we’ll eventually get a Chop Till you Drop version on the Wii U.

  • Skode

Open World? Shame that will probably mean the end of the zany OTT boss sequences the games were known for. Still game looks pretty good… if i get a XBOne then this will be one of the first games i go out and buy.

    • AJ

Weren’t the other Dead Rising games technically open world?

The phrase “open world” basically just means “you don’t see a loading screen or menu” these days.

      • Skode

Open world games are generally games you can do what you want, when you want and often from the near start of the game… Dead Rising as a series has generally been linear even if locations were sizable. If they didnt want you to go somewhere that area would be sealed off till story permitted you to go, hell the whole timed mission mechanic made it even less disguised as an open world series because if you strayed far you could for all intents and purposes fail the game.

  • Vesperion

All that grey. Looks like it got hit with a coat of “Advent Children”

    • TheExile285

      AC looked cooler though…

  • dragoon_slayer12

While I’m not surprised that they revealed this, and kind of not surprised that it’s exclusive (whether it’s timed or not, doesn’t matter) since the series originated on the 360, and has two exclusive chapters on said system, I am TOTALLY BUMBED OUT THAT IT IS EXCLUSIVE TO THE One!!!! When the one drops in price (to around 300 4 years from now), I’ll get the One and this game (if it doesn’t come to the ps4). The $500 price point killed it for me. Say what you want (I’m cheap, ps4 going to be equal or more expensive, blah, blah), I only own 1 exclusive for my 360,and Sony and Nintendo has the IP’s I want, so no, $500 investment on a system I’ll ultimately only own 10 games for, is not worth it to me.

  • I don’t buy the exclusivity to be honest. While I don’t mind exclusives myself, I just somehow get the feeling that this isn’t a true, permanent exclusive. It’ll probably end up on PS4 at some point.

  • main character looks…blah.

  • Just Tim

If this were a timed exclusive, then kudos to Microsoft for recognizing America’s obsession with zombies AND putting it in an American console, to boot.

  • Neppygear

    wow looks bland as… beige

  • Hector Velar

even thou this is my favorite series ever, I’m not getting an Xbox One, hope they release it for PC or PS4 with extra content.

  • Hector Velar

well… heck who am i kidding, the Xbox One is going to sell so poorly that Capcom is going to be forced to release it on the PS4 to be able to cover their loses and production cost.

  • artemisthemp

Xbox One exclusive and then 1 year later release a fun version for PS4
