I was going to comment on why Blu-Ray and Wi-Fi seem to be listed as if they were peripherals, but…

    “an exclusive “Day One” achievement,”

Oh, god, no. What is this madness!?

    • TheExile285

      Madness? No, THIS IS MICRO$OFT!!!

    • Zonic505

Just wait, they’ll confirm that you get one based on which retailer you buy it from.

    • British_Otaku

The bane of OCD, must 100% everything players everywhere.
Time/location/multiplayer achievements have always been something, now a reward for guaranteeing Microsoft your mon£y… >_>

I guess it could be effective, even if it isn’t going to please anyone who wants to collect achievements and joins the Xbox One party late, doesn’t know about the exclusive deal, isn’t in the specific region where stores have it or can’t afford it immediately…

    • myausicz

lol, i guess cheaper version doesn’t have blu-ray and wifi :P

  • TheExile285

Only 2 weeks for the XBLG trial? Too cheap to just make it a month, MS?

  • Keima88

Huh no games included? What the heck…
Ooh whats the prices going to be of the next gen games ? 60 bucks/euros?

    • kool_cid414

I predict 70 now I wouldn’t put it past them.

    • KonjikinoSora

Sony confirmed that the maximum price for PS4 games in the US will be $60. You shouldn’t even care about how much Xbox One games are going to be, though.

      • Keima88

Thats why I said next gen games :P
My care level about the xbox one is about the same level as an annoying neighbour who cant be ignored but cant help to tolerate.

        • Testsubject909

Amusing. Someone in the Open Thread has that problem right now..

  • DesmaX

    Poor Archievement Hunters…

    • Testsubject909

If they really want that… The they should move to Steam.

Abandon ship. The 360 had a good run, but a digital score is not worth the worsening of the future of gaming.

      • The Watcher

haha i would never Steam. over 250k just to Abandon ship? no no no, not in my house.

      • Mozendo

I wouldn’t recommend Steam since not all games have achievements including new ones.

      • Aquarius

You do know Steam has been using the same (if not even worse) methods of DRM for years right? i.e. You can’t even start Steam sometimes without having an internet connection if you didn’t closed Steam in Offline Mode beforehand.

So suggesting Steam is better for achievements is not a very smart thing to say my friend.

    • Raltrios

I’m interested in hearing their opinions on this. Burnie’s probably keeping them quiet for now, which is a smart move considering how influential Rooster Teeth is now as a company. They won’t be able to start bashing their patron system’s new successor without it having severe repercussions.

  • NightzeroAX
    • Elemiel

      Wowzers, twenty minutes! :O

      • NightzeroAX

        Worth every minute.

        • Testsubject909

He forgot to mention that the Xbox One is Region Locked.

          • The Watcher

            like that was a surprise…

  • Istillduno

I thought MS would have learned from Sony’s mistake when they released the PS3 at a similar price point, but then again it looks like listening to anyone but themselves is out dated now.

    • TheExile285

I think MS thinks they may have enough loyal fans for this to work and unfortunately they may be right. We’ll see what happens.

      • FetusZero

Sony thought the exact same thing though.. and we all saw what happened then. I’m actually hoping the same happens to Microsoft and that Sony has learned from their mistake (and from Microsoft’s disgusting restrictions).

  • Wow! A Day One achievement?! Now I HAVE to buy the console!!!

Thanks Microsoft for making me poor this holiday :(

  • Vesperion

Whatever happened to one month trials?

    • TheExile285

      Xbone happened

      • myausicz

        yep, xboned

  • Pockystix

    Two weeks?

that’s far too much time M$, you should give people 24 hours before you ask to see their wallets!

    • TheExile285

Quiet you! Don’t give them any ideas!!

  • Go2hell66

    Godspeed microsoft…

    • mirumu

      • Derek E Nay

Spider ladys…. (Secret Spider lady fetish. Thanks Qualagg.) What’s that from btw?

        • MrSirFeatherFang

          Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou

          • mirumu

You have a good eye sir.

  • ronin4life

… Those “Bonuses” make me want to vomit.

    • Bob Obb

I have a feeling DLC will be mandatory next gen, it’s the only way to keep $60 games while inflating budgets to stupid proprotions.

      • Strid

The only way you can think of maybe. Humoring that there is even a necessity to keep up with an “inflating budget”, there are still other ways.

  • Anime10121

Kinect Peripheral? How can a peripheral be required?

Microsoft I dont think that word means what you think it means.

    • idrawrobots

I’m sorry but I don’t think you know what peripheral means.

  • Testsubject909

    Xbox Gold huh?

So “No free online multiplayer confirmed” I take it.

You really think there are that many suckers out there who’ll pay any amount you want huh?

    … Sadly you’re right…

    • PoweredByHentai

Paywalled. It worked for MS for this long so this isn’t new.

  • Sergio Briceño

Sounds like a good deal but… I’ll wait until I hear what PS has to offer on launch. Xbox Live trial doesn’t look so hot considering PSN has always been free, but the achievement would be nice for collectors. The exclusive launch DLC is looking real good, but then again I’ll wait until I hear about any PS4 launch bundles.

    • Testsubject909

“here’s an achievement so you look the other way while we set up all of your games full of DRM”

      Yup… great for collectors.

“Oh and, the games you have, they’re loaned, you don’t technically own them and when the servers will be shut, you’ll permanently lose access to all your loans”

      • Sergio Briceño

I see how sarcasm and pesimism earns upvotes these days. And here I thought actually commenting on an article was of value. Apparently it’s the opposite.

Seriously though, the Xbox One so far looks like the more restrictive of the two next generation consoles. But if I had a lot of money I think it’s the only one I would get. The Xbox Live+Smart Glass+Illumiroom+Kinect combo seems impossible to beat, but then again not everybody’s got the money to buy a projector and I don’t think most people would anyway considering that for the same amount of cash you could buy an even more powerful PC.

Edit: Sorry for the late edit but I thought I should clear things up so you end up hating the console a little less. You are worried that when the servers shutdown you will lose your games? MS is investing heavily on servers and the cloud and I really don’t see it happening anytime soon (game servers are a different story, but thankfully they are unrelated to ownership authentication). And when they do shutdown it’ll be after the console’s life cycle and since there will no longer be any game servers there will be no service to maintain so it’ll be as simple as giving an update to play offline (it’s been announced as an option for special cases already).

Yes there is the lending/selling games issue for third party games. But rest assured, you buy it, you play for many many years.

        • Aquarius

Don’t even bother on reading Testsubject909’s comments. He/she’ll be on any Xbox related article bashing the console like if it were his/her job. Scratch that, I’m pretty sure that’s his job.

I swear I’ve read the same thing from him over and over, we get you hate the console, so, cry a river, build a bridge and get over it.

  • fairly off topic and probably late, but:

since the XboxOne is using a bluray player, does that mean that sony will make money off of it?

    • mirumu

Yes. Last I recall it was about $10 per player, and Sony, Phillips and Panasonic all got a cut.

  • shuyai

    sorry but this is obligatory

why the fick does UK cost so much more!! i mean $500 = £320, lets use that price which already include US tax and add 20% Vat and the price is till only £384, ok i can still tolerate if it rounded up to £400 but why the fick it cost £430!! Fick you micro$oft, i cant help but think we from europe actually pay more to help lower the console price of US

    • yup this is obscene…I amnot even in europe and I think they went bonkers with this one.

    • Symbol de Au

That better be obligatory. Kidding. That’s an interesting theory…thanks guys. I’m sorry we’re poor.

      • shuyai

yes you dirty american!!! better be sorry know that part of your xbox belong to us when every you turn it on.

but seriously that or Microsoft is just a dick and sony is probably gona be a dick to us (especially uk) as well.

        • Symbol de Au

Geez you think just because I’m American I own Xbox? Call me fat or something.

  • ZEROthefirst

Not sure if Microsoft is even trying to sell this console anymore.

  • Kevi Johnson-el

I think they should have had a cheaper model I mean I wasn’t gonna buy that system anyways still would have been nice…

  • ragingmerifes

God, they really want people to not buy it.

  • Z3

Is that it? That’s hella disappointing Micro$oft

  • Codex

Bluray and wireless having to be listed almost implies they intend to release versions without, either way the whole idea of this console is disgusting…

  • yo1234

well, at least it comes with 500gb. still going ps4 unless sony REALLY f**ks up.

  • midgard229

so wait? wifi and wireless isnt standard?

  • FetusZero

$500 for a region-locked console that doesn’t let me borrow/lend games and doesn’t let me have a full weekend of gaming at my friend’s place because he doesn’t have internet?

  • Aoshi00

wow, just too much in Euro :(… would’ve been nice if Day One bundle includes a free game of choice (I want Quantum Break, D4, or Crimson Dragon).. wonder what the LE Day 1 controller would look like.. I would prefer a LE Xbox One though, like the Star War/Gears of War 360 systems.. guess those won’t come out until a while..

  • artemisthemp

Day 1 Xbox One comes with a Achivement worth 1000G point, because it’s a real achievement, that you though the Xbox One was a PS4.
