    • http://thespellcraftcolumn.wordpress.com Rudolph Consuegra

Mila will be your best bet at the moment.

    • Krescentwolf

Rachel has an updated version of the Spartan’s moveset from DoA4. They couldn’t use Spartan for obvious IP reasons, handing the moveset to Rachel was a damn good idea IMO.

    • Slayven19

This is a unique post, I’ve honestly never seen this done before.

  • Sardorim

Kudos to the person that called this a while back when Ultimate was announced.

Also, why is Mila so adorable?!

  • KyoyaHibari

    Hu-hu-HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPEEEEEEEEE

  • doubleO7

Great trailer. So excited for this. 2 new characters, tons of costumes, and I see some new moves in there. CAN. NOT. WAIT.
Maybe I should bust out the ol’ DOA2 to keep myself occupied in the meantime.

  • Hoshi星

    I’m loving all these outfits

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Bout time she got in on this. Long overdue appearance.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

I’ve personally thought she should’ve just stayed in the 1st modern Ninja Gaiden game. I never really found anything special about her.
Now Alma on the other hand… :D
Well, the new costumes look nice. Saw some new moves and tag team throws. That desert stage is ripped from Ninja Gaiden 3 though lol

  • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

The girl at 1:28 looks like Lady from DMC. Anyone know who it is?

    • http://altsune.com/ Ovada Bey

      I think it’s Pai~

      • Tee Niitris

        Yep… one of Pai’s alternates.

      • sunK1D

I think it’s Pai too but it could also be Aoi.

  • http://altsune.com/ Ovada Bey

Seeing the ‘Lost World’ stage from Dead or Alive 3 come back (at 1:24)- and Hayabusa Izuna dropping it up.. Tears, man. Manly tears.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

With a cleavage like that one you have to wonder why they took so long before they added her in the Dead Or Alive roster.

    • Skode

Trying to keep up the pretense that they were aiming for a more mature DoA game i guess. Still watch the Bikini DLC sell now shes kicking about on the roster

    • Slayven19

They still wanted NG characters separate from DOA me thinks. Or at least itagaki did.

  • Vesperion

    Leon looks soooo old

    • David García Abril

And that’s a good thing, if you ask me. The game has more than enough youngster already.

  • DarthSithZero

Sonia, Mizuki & Bikinis for all Ninja Gaiden girls and we have a deal.

  • Tee Niitris

Wow… they’ve done a lot in a year’s time and there’s still a couple months before release day.

To think that this was E3 last year:

Yay, I’ve known of this forum for a year know. :)

  • http://queensblade.net/index.php/characters/cattleya gulabjamuns

    Wow….

I actually noticed the music :O and it’s good (well better than anything that was in the original release… lol)

also, I NEED THIS NOW!!!!!! As a DOA fan I don’t think I could even ask for more… oh wait, CG endings and intro ^^’ but other than that, if they just tighten up the gameplay closer to 3.1 levels then this will be without a doubt the best DOA ever.

    • Tee Niitris

GC endings and an intro would help. Oh, and the music is much better now (finally).

The only big flaw that DoA’s gameplay has it that it needs a big nerf on defensive holds which are basically no different from combo breakers (and a somewhat smaller counter window). An opponent shouldn’t be able to take substantial damage after losing the neutral game. Defensive holds should exist to stop an opponent’s momentum, not as another form of damaging offense. They do that, DoA’s gameplay will be fine (as in good enough).

They don’t seem to want to do that. :(

      • David García Abril

Sorry, but I’m sick of the whole “DOA counters should be nerf down” thing, specially when people talk about it as if it was “objectively” a design flaw. It’s not.

The whole point of those damaging counters is to rise the stakes when you initiate a combo and force you to vary you moves instead of always repeating the same patterns. Plus, the game has plenty of options to punish people who abuse them. A “risk/reward” system, so to speak.

They’re fine the way they’re now. They are complicated enough to do and they don’t take as much damage as people make it out to be (and those that do, like Hayabusa’s Inazuma Drop, are ridiculously difficult to pull off)

        • Tee Niitris

I’m not going to try and argue just to change your mind (I’m not that kind of guy). I’ll just state why I feel this way.

What I like about DoA’s gameplay is that it takes the most prevalent nuances of 3D fighters and puts it in a simple package. I also like that countering plays a heavy part of the gameplay because it does promote mixing up techniques moreso than other games. However, being able to hold in stun & inflict damage gives it an advantage that striking and throwing can’t possibly have because you can’t strike or throw while in stun. Holds essentially have two offensive options (in & out of stun) while striking and throwing only have one (out of stun), making countering a substantially more powerful option than the other triangle components.

Team Ninja have actually tried to reduce the damage of defensive holds in every game for this reason. I presume they don’t go too far on those changes so that they won’t upset their fanbase. I don’t think DoA’s gameplay would be ruined if defensive holds were made differently than it’s offensive counterpart (just my opinion, easy/basic DH should only exist to stop momentum and take no damage, whilst the more difficult DH like the Izuna Drop you mentioned should have a much tighter window/execution to perform it with the tradeoff of inflicting damage).

  • Göran Isacson

Kitty-ear hood for Elliot and something that looks… well, at least not as undignified as the Teletubbie outfit for Zack? I can dig this. I can truly, really dig this. And hey, Rachel too! Really dig her powerful looking moves, think she may have some of Tinas wrestling moves in her repertoire?

  • TrannyMagic

finally… something different from those pigtails <3 as a Pai mainer, this makes me happy ^^ kinda wish Team Ninja gave her a makeover… but I like that they're getting more of her VF costumes.

  • http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/mgbenz mgbenz

Was that Bass with a Jagi comstume?! O_O

  • Ixbran

the voice actor for Rachel is Tara Strong, that instantly makes her one of the best characters in the game already.

  • ALfromHELLSING

This is gonna be THE BEST DEAD OR ALIVE game EVER. Rachel & Momiji rock so as all new costumes. Bravo TeamNINJA.

    • roydgriffin

Yeah, bravo for letting me buy an unfinished game… -.-
I’m a bit bitter about it, not gonna lie.

Looks cool though. I want Momiji! >.<

      • Sardorim

You act like this is a new thing. >_>

  • Nitraion

    Those costume…
    hope they not DLC…
    that will be ultimate trolling…

    • Slayven19

They wouldn’t show them in the vid if they were.

    • doubleO7

There might be new DLC, but the stuff in the trailer should all be in-game. Actually, including most of the DOA5 DLC on-disc too, so thats a plus.

      • sunK1D

DOA 5 DLC will stay as DLC for U since they’re interchangeable.

        • doubleO7

Yes, technically. But according to the official website, the following DLC packs are included as unlockables:
          Costume Pack Round 1
Costume Pack Round 2 (Kitty Pack , What a Character , Special Set)
Costume Pack Round 4 (Angels , Devils , DOATEC Divas)
Costume Pack Round 5 (China Pack , Special Set 3 , Formal Wear)
Costume Pack Round 9 (Fighter Pack)
Which is everything except the Santa suits, Bikinis, and Round 3 Pack (Gym, School, Special Set 2)

          • doubleO7

But obviously if you bought any of those costumes already you’ll have them right from the start and wont need to unlock them,

          • sunK1D

Awesome, I wasn’t aware they had listed those packs for U.

    • David García Abril

I think they’ll be included in the retail game, but will be DLC too for people who buy the free-to-play version.

  • Slayven19

    All my monies team ninja.

  • sunK1D

The freaking redeemed themselves with that costume for Kokoro. Hell yeah!

  • Repede91

This rivals DOAU and the PS1 version of DOA1 interms of costume variety.

  • gamefreak86

Guess no details about vita comparability?

  • Ty Austin

Anybody notice the move at the 0:29 mark? Seems like a new ‘launcher’ mechanic, looks interesting. I love the stun and CB system, so I’m looking forward to seeing how that plays out.

    • Francesco D’Arcangeli

Yup, it’s called the “power launcher” and it’s a doa5u novelty.
The game’s official site mentions it but doesn’t explain much…
      And, to paraphrase Brad Wong…
“We don’t need a power launcher to win… but it helps!”

  • omeganeko

    Mila you are so awesome

  • Jake_Indiman

Awesome! Now while we are on a roll, how about Joe Hayabusa, and the Greater Fiend Lords? Elizabet would be cool!

  • Testsubject909

Late, probably no one cares but.

You can pre-order the special Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Kasumi Blue & Momiji Red Collector’s Edition now.

    Of course… It’s 245$ so there’s that to keep in mind…

Edit: Import from Japan that is.

  • David García Abril

I’m not a fan of Rachel. I think she’s the blandest “Ninja Gaiden” character ever (And, no intention of trolling here, but that’s saying something).

However, the game as a whole looks frigging awesome! I love the new Tag holds! That double Inazuma Drop executed by Hayabusa and Momiji is the sweetest thing I’ve seen in a fighting game since Ryu’s Metsu Shoryuken in “Super Street Fighter IV”!

Plus… is it just me… or they made the female characters’ boobs big again?

  • Gilgamesh2025

    OMG! That was AWESOME!!! :D

  • Sakurazaki

Seriously. When I saw the one from Lost Worlds, I shed a manly tear.

  • Francesco D’Arcangeli

    Indeed so,

I’m a newcoming DOA fan (only joined with DOA5 and a couple of months ago!) and I already love it!

  • Francesco D’Arcangeli

Thanks! DOA is a great game, even without the good-looking babes :D

It’s not as grisly as MK or all-out unrealistic like Tekken (both are great games as well… I’m not bashing them) but not too serious either… it’s FUN, which is what a game should be about!
