Pokémon X And Pokémon Y Reveal Three New Pokémon

By Ishaan . June 11, 2013 . 8:00am

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have shared a new trailer for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, showing off new features from the game, such as the new Fairy type and more. Watch it below, and then read on for a rundown of new features.

Sylveon, the newest evolution of Eevee is a Fairy-type Pokémon, Nintendo have revealed. Sylveon can “manipulate its ribbonlike feelers at will and can emit from them an aura that can calm people and other Pokémon”. It can learn Moonblast, a new Fairy-type move, that uses the power of the moon to attack an opponent. In addition to doing damage, it also lowers the opponent’s Attack stat.

Gardevoir, Marill, and Jigglypuff—along with other older Pokémon, presumably—will be reclassified as Fairy-type Pokémon in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

Another new Pokémon in the game is the sound wave Pokémon, Noivern. Noivern is a Flying/Dragon-type and is extremely aggressive. It will attack anything that wanders too close to it, and uses the ultrasonic waves it emits from its ears to attack. These are said to be able to turn boulders to pebbles.

Noivern has a Normal-type move called Boomburst during battle that emits an explosive sound, attacking all surrounding Pokémon. However, the attack willl also hit your allies, so it’s a double-edged sword.

Finally, Vivillon is a new Bug/Flying-type. It’s said there’s a secret behind the colourful decorative pattern on its wings, which it can use to create a strong wind to attack with. Vivillon can learn Struggle Bug, a Bug-type move that lowers the Special Attack of opposing Pokémon and also causes damage.

Another new feature in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y is the Pokémon-Amie. You can use the Nintendo 3DS touch screen to interact with Pokémon on your team and this will help build a stronger bond with them. Building this bond will help in future battles.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will be released worldwide on October 12th.

    • Sergio Briceño

It kind of reminded me of this:

      • Foxeh Shihōin

omg someoen remembers this magnificent game!

        • Sergio Briceño

Of course. And I know I’m not the only one who remembers a certain spokesperson from Sega teasing an HD re-release 2 years ago… 2 years ago…

    • Vash bane

lolz I feel like a nerd knowing where that came from

      • XiaomuArisu

        its old-schoolXD

    • artemisthemp

So Pokemon will finally see nudety :P

      • XiaomuArisu

        Rainbow nudityXD

Good Dragon type needed some competition, and when they were feeding and petting the Pokemon was i the only one thinking KH:DDD?

  • DarthSithZero

    Subwoofer Bat

  • We still dunno Fairy’s weakness… hope they have good moves and actually help them to get in the metagame. ._.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

Poison and Steel are super effective against Fairy Type
Fairy Type are super effective against Dark, Dragon and Fighting

      • Chris Yuen

I never thought that I’ll see the day where Jigglypuff and Clefairy can lay the smackdown on Dragonites and the likes.

      • komiko12

I guess Fairy Types are there for balance purposes. To give some use to poison types. Then increase the offensive prowess of Steel. And Finally to weaken Dragon types and Fighting types.

        • VietKnight

Actually more on Dark than Fighting types.

      • Rollersnake

I like this. Poison was one of the weaker typings before, as was steel—offensively anyway.

      • Zonder88

Meh, I dont really agree with beating Fighting types, they already got 2 weaknesses but barely any resistance. Dragon and Dark at least got tons of resists.

      • JustThisOne

That sounds awesome. *__* Can you tell me where you found that out?

        • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

The rumor that came months back

Also the Video shows it strong against Dark, Dragon and Fighting.

Poison and Steel need a new super effective to hit.

          • JustThisOne

Hmm, I guess I’ll have to do some digging around then. Thanks. :>

          • DuskSharkEX

          • Renaldi Saputra

poison type got approved.. it’s just not only super effective with grass

      • That’s still just a rumor, until official talk, I won’t take it as granted, the salt of grain is always the safest bet.

  • J_Joestar

Was that like a Pseudo-Nintendogs with Pokemon?

  • porkiewpyne

Saw title and was like “Three? Which one did I miss?” Then I realised that you counted Sylveon as well LOL

  • This reminds me more of Kingdom Hearts 3D’s monster raising aspect. But then, more games are starting to get this feature, I feel? *is playing Project Diva F*

  • LinkofCourage

Title says three new Pokemon, there were only two.

    • 古戸ヱリカ

The third one is a ghost type, so you can’t see it.

  • piichan

Pokemon + Tamagotchi = profit! Seriously tho, I dig it. I’d attach an everstone to my dragonair and pet it forever!

    • Renaldi Saputra

okay, we only can see giving pokemon food.. now how about cleaning their poop?

  • VietKnight

So cant wait for it and too many coming out in october

  • James Enk

not a big fan of pkmn but this game got me exited then i saw Pokémon-Amie and i got a bit turned off

  • Charles

Sweet, a new bat pokemon to be annoyed at.

    • JustThisOne

As long as it doesn’t supersonic, I’m down.

  • I can’t wait until these come out, but someone explain to me how Fairies beat Dragons XD

    • grevlinghore

A fairy does whatever the fuck a fairy wants to do. Including dragonslaying.

      • xD

      • XD

      • Abyan Haidar

and before long… Fairy(tail) is related to Dragon(slayer)…
wait…. will they give us Fairy / Dragon – type?

    • Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy… bitch. xD Edit: Azure knows I didn’t mean anything when I put “bitch” at the end. It is just how the saying goes.

      • Symbol de Au

        • Hmm?

          • Symbol de Au

Oh yeah. I meant to respond to this a long time ago but it’s because those guys still haven’t beaten a single dragon. Meh.

      • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

        Beat me to it

      • r0gamer940

        lol that was awesome

        • Yah? It was like first hting in my head.

      • Touche sir XD

    • Pockystix

well, Puck did hang around the dragonslayer’s owner. . .

  • Symbol de Au

I’m not sure how to feel about this. Gardevoir is now Psychic/Fairy. I hope it gets some worthwhile immunities or something otherwise it would have been better off staying pure Psychic since it would have probably been able to learn Fairy moves anyway. Sure there’s the same type attack bonus but I don’t think that’s worth it…

    • no way to tell until we get more info/the game comes out.

      • Symbol de Au

    • komiko12

Being able to fight Dragon Types and Dark Types is good for Gardevoir.

      • Symbol de Au

Gaining two new weaknesses isn’t good =/. Assuming the rumours are true it gains a poison and steel weakness, a dragon immunity and some same type attack bonus against Dark/Dragon. I just wish that while gaining new weaknesses it got rid of some of the old ones but I doubt it and it might be fine either way.

        • komiko12

Psychic types are super effective against poison and Gardevoir was not really fit for battling Steel types because Focus Bomb has shaky accuracy

          • Shiki

Well, I’ve only encountered few people who actually used Gardevoir on competitive battles, so, after gaining a new weakness, I’m not sure if she’ll even gain more popularity. Gardevoir, which is only good as stalling, then sweeping(using calm mind) wouldn’t be that useful on higher metagame (like OU) where even dragons can take her down with one outrage(her def stat is very low), and also, most of the common stall pokes are steel typed, so, I’m seeing her sinking more down, and would still be stuck on RU and NU, THAT, if there’s no hidden miracle, like new moves or new items, that would help her rise.

P.S: it’ called Focus Blast :D

          • sd28

its a new game and a new meta game so any thing can happen even a new abillity

          • Shiki

Hmmm, new ability? not sure, though, it might happen! However, her unbalanced stat will be an obstacle for her to face the common threats of the OU, so I’m not sure. Let’s just wait and see.

        • J_Joestar

well it isn’t like Poison and Steel are that prevalent attacking-types throughout the current meta-game anyways.

    • Cazar

Gardevoir was never a competitive contending Pokémon to begin with. If anything maybe you should be hoping that any changes made to it might end up rendering it usable.

    • VietKnight

And don’t forget that male version evolve into Gallade which was a fighting/psychic type so it fits.

  • 3PointDecoupage

Anyone else think Noivern looks like a Swoobat evolution?

    • VietKnight

      Nope not really.

  • Spider-Man

Oh god yes! 2013 going out with a BANG! Looking forward to feeding my Dialga and playing with it.

  • Ed Powell

A Fairy type is introduced, and not a single Shin Megami Tensei joke/reference is made?

Come on guys, I’m a little dissapointed. ;P

    • biskmater

You are looking at two largely unrelated fandoms, cut them some slack.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Fairy type beats Dragon?…. where have I heard that before? lol

  • Davos Icestream

noyvern reminds me of gyaos from the gamera movies lol

now we have fairies *wonders if theres a tinkerbellpokemon and laughs his ass off*

    • 3PointDecoupage

You don’t have to take them to the pokemon center. You just clap and ‘believe’.

  • Sergio Briceño

I can see myself raising happiness with Poké-amie. Way better alternative than walking… If it indeed makes your Pokémon “happy” like Iwata said.

  • Shady Shariest

Oh my god…I take every word i have ever said about pokemons getting uglier…

    • Christopher Nunes

      That’s a dragon. ^_^

      • JustThisOne

Noise Wyveeerrn~! I wonder if he’ll grow up to be a … Loudwyrm.

Nevermind. I should never name things.

        • Solomon_Kano

No, I would totes go for a Loudwyrm!

      • Shady Shariest

        Oh yeah :3
Those are wyvern wings, solly :D

  • I think what bothers me most about Noivern is that I can’t tell if those are speakers on its head for ears … or if those gigantic things are eyes O_O Cool body design, though.

  • Zonder88

Did they make Gardevoir female only yet? :3

  • Scirm

That 3D, flying, moving Charizard looks so freakin’ awesome!!!

  • JMaster3000

I don’t know how to contact the mods here but it seems that there are more stuff leaked abou X and Y.
It seems there are Sky Fights in the X and Y, only Pokemon that can fly or levitate can battle. And it seems there are 1 vs many battles too and a new pokemon has been leaked, here are some screenshoots:

  • Renaldi Saputra

and so, they replaced Light with Fairy..
    clever one..
this Fairy type maybe can do super effective to Ghost/Dark
oh, we still don’t know what kind of type that Fairy type attack does not super effective

  • Adrian Duran

three more pokemon have been added

  • Solomon_Kano

    Noivern = noise + wyvern… I like it!

  • artemisthemp

I can get around the 3 other been fairy type, but Marill? I can’t see it.

  • Kai2591

Pokemon-Amie is an awesome idea! Now players will feel closer than ever before to their Pokemon :)
Though it would be funny to see someone on the street doing silly faces when using that feature.

and Gardevoir is now a fairy type huh? awesome. Been planning to get one anyway. Such a graceful pokemon~
