Kingdom Hearts III Director Nomura Talks About The Game’s Current Progress

After releasing Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance last year for Nintendo 3DS and more recently revealing the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, it came as a big surprise to see Square Enix announce Kingdom Hearts III for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Director Tetsuya Nomura talked about the game’s development in an interview with Famitsu.

Nomura started out by talking about the recent reveal:

“Since the release of Kingdom Hearts II, I believe that many fans were feeling impatient due to our continuous releases of spin-off titles, so we decided to announce it at the same time as Final Fantasy XV.” Nomura says. “However, looking at the current development status, I think we may have announced it a little too early.”

On this note, Famitsu pointed out that the game’s visuals are already looking solid.

Nomura replies, “We call these visuals the ‘Kingdom Shader’, within the development crew. The characters will look like in the original worlds. The shader will adjust according to each world, so Disney’s worlds will have their own fitting visuals.”

The next-generation Luminous Studio engine was first introduced by Square Enix during last year’s E3 showing of the Agnis Philosophy tech demo, which is also being used for Final Fantasy XV. Nomura and his team are currently using the Luminous as the base and developing in an “overspec” environment. We assume this means PC, as FFXV is being developed on PC, and both it and Kingdom Hearts III use DirectX 11.)

The battle parts that were shown in the trailer actually weren’t recorded while running on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, Nomura shares, but are representative of the level of quality he hopes to achieve. Nomura says the footage in the trailer is very close to what it will look like running in real-time. (The demo was running in the overspec development environment.)

Famitsu then asked about how Kingdom Hearts III’s action has evolved.

Nomura replied, “At this moment, we actually have a working demo version… and it’s really wild (laughs). The ‘bold action’ has become even greater. Kingdom Hearts III features a party of three, but you’ll also have different NPCs join the battle in other worlds, and the action is pretty flashy. You’ll be flying all over the place in aerial-combat, without ever having to land.

We know that Sora will be faster and stronger than ever, but the enemies will also be tougher to stand a chance against the Keyblade Master.

Nomura also talks a little about the enemies: “The enemy AI has become considerately more elaborate, and the coordinating action unfolds for both enemies and allies. For example, there’s a vehicle-type enemy, which Sora can ride on and fly around during battles.”

In concluding, Nomura leaves the following message for fans:

Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III both have a healthy rivalry relationship together, that continues to better each other through competition. During a preview showing within our company, we feel that even though the development stage is still early for Kingdom Hearts III, the response can already be felt. We are currently experimenting with online features for Kingdom Hearts III, which has yet to be seen in any previous Kingdom Hearts games. In addition to this year’s Tokyo Game Show, we’re also thinking about revealing more information during the Disney’s ‘D23 Expo Japan’ event in October.”

Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Strange how some KH fans get so pissed off when people call BBS, CoM etc. spin-offs, when even the series director calls them spin-offs.

    • http://twitter.com/crxuchilbara MegamMix

Well the introduction of the concept trailer is showing Sora wielding a spinoff weapon. Obviously they have more impact on the storyline certain fans are willing to admit.

    • brian

It is bizarre, but then again games like BBS and 3D (at least) are equally important as the “main” games.

    • KingRuff

No, what’s weird is how the series director said that they weren’t spin-offs before KH3 was revealed, and then went back on what they said.
It’s fine either way for me, spin-off or not, BBS and 3D are still great games.

    • Ferrick

except they aren’t spin-offs to begin with… because they’re equally important to the story itself

    • David García Abril

I think Nomura just caved in to peer pressure. Everyone is calling them spin-offs (even if they aren’t. If you have played them, you can see it), so let’s called them that as well…

      So sad… -_-

      • http://momentsreprieve.com/index/ Aushria

Spin-off is a universal term, the fan-base tends to take a negative connotation when the games are referred to as such, when really…using the term ‘spin off’ is just as effective as calling it a sidequel or side game.

We’re the ones who corrupted the meaning of the term, Nomura is just using it in the proper context while most all of us fans—were not.

    • $36487238

Yeah, that is weird but maybe like what David said, could be peer pressure. Maybe he’s been bugged by many gamers calling BBS, CoM, DDD and other KH side-games “spin-offs” that the word “spin-off” got stuck in his mind.

All KH games, whether they seem like spin-offs or they’re part of the main storyline, all connect together to bring you the true experience of the KH storyline.

      Anyway, we’re getting KH3 and that’s that.

    • Herok♞

the term being used here is probably an oversimplification, considering you never need spinoffs to understand plot, or whats more likely is he just lumped all the games together, because the spinoffs are the 2 ds games(recoded and days), while 3D and BBS are needed for story.

    • Sardorim

      I consider BBS a prequel.

    • Yan Zhao

This. I remember saying that in Gamefaqs and had a legion of butthurt responses completely ignoring my original question. Needless to say, I no longer take KH fans seriously afterwards.

      • Ferrick

that’s because its not even a spin off to begin with >.> damn you guys sure do love to abuse that word even when its not true… well except from when it comes to re:coded, since that didn’t really impact the overall story much

        • Yan Zhao

People still trying to argue when even its creator say they are spin-offs. Ok.

          • Ferrick

believe what ever you want, if you consider them as spin-offs then that’s that, i enjoy it more when people are confused as to what the hell is happening because they decided that the past games were spin offs and therefore unimportant

    • Vesperion

Doesn’t matter if the creator calls them spin-offs people just believe what they wanna believe, as if their word is greater then his. Happened the other day when game was announced along with XV at the Sony conference. Never said the games were exclusive, but no one wanted to hear that

      Don’t hurt me please….

    • http://www.ihasnowebsitez.com Satonaka CP-Four

I hope KH3 has a few inserted cinematics or an in game “bible” to get all the relevant plot points from said spin-offs in to finish up KH3 and end the ‘xehanort saga’

This convoluted story has been going on long enough. I’m almost looking forward to the NEXT game past this saga and maybe then we can have a new main character, since i’m getting tired of sora as well. A new main would would be amazing right about now.

      Also spin-off are spin-offs XD

      • Steven Higgins

Sorry, Nomura said a long time ago that Sora will always be the main character, even after the Xehanort Saga ends.

  • Guest

when i saw the trailer for kh3 for the first time i had a flash back of the time after kh2 and i releazed ..i need to get out more often seriously it was like paying for a movie and watching the trailer instead lol feel free to down vote this cause if u do it well serve its job

    • Ferrick

so… you basically pay 8 bucks (standard weekday prize for most cinemas in US), just to go and watch a trailer in the cinemas, and walk out right after the trailers are over ? What kind of logic is that ?

      • transferstudentx

i paid for the move and was supposed to see the move but they showed only the trailer instead thats what i meant

    • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

      What job is that?

  • urbanscholar

Announced too early? Years out guess, 3 maybe

    • http://momentsreprieve.com/index/ Aushria

I’m guessing three for English territories, and two for Japan. Osaka is pretty quick with their work; if the past few years haven’t proven that already, so I wouldn’t doubt them cranking out Kingdom Hearts III in a more than timely manner ~

  • Jordan Coleman

Oh, well looks like we got the “Versus” of the PS4 here.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

let’s wait until 2020, and then Nomura announced that it will be moved to PS5 lol

  • Crevox

It would be amazing if they released these “overspec versions” as PC versions……

They could even do it post-console version launch if they want to.

    • Pfantzypantz

Definitely, if they actually do release it on PC, I could wait as long as they wanted…

  • Solomon_Kano

So more KH3 in September and October? Nomura actually telling us when the next update will be feels so foreign. And so good.

“The ‘bold action’ has become even greater. Kingdom Hearts III features a party of three, but you’ll also have different NPCs join the battle in other worlds, and the action is pretty flashy.”

Now I may be reading into that too much, but to me, that says we’re back to 3 playable characters like BBS except all at once this time. Because we always had a party of 3 in Sora, Donald, and Goofy but you don’t control Donald and Goofy, so they’re still NPCs in that sense.

By making the distinction between the party and the NPCs, that’s what I’m getting from this, anyway. And it seems like a logical next step after BBS and KH3D kept pushing the gameplay closer to a fully controlled party. BBS got us into multiple playable characters, KH3D had us alternate between them (though not in a traditional sense), so this sounds right.

    • OkamiKing

Or he could be referring to situations like KH1 Riku helping you out in monstro. Or Mickey in KH II, or the Axel and Sora vs nobodies battle. This sounds like the party members may increase on screen mid battle and would have a drastic effect.

    • Wappuli

Would be really sweet to have more than Sora as a playable character, even though I would most likely use mostly Sora.
But to me this “party of 3″ really just sounds like they are going back to how it was for KH1 and 2. Sora, Donald and Goofy being the party of 3 and present in all worlds and various disney characters joining in their own worlds.
If I remember correctly, in all of the spin-offs you are just soloing all the time.

      • Oni123

Riku could very well be playable especially after dream drop distance. One of the other updates mentioned that Riku and mickey are off doing there own thing.. I hope this means that they’re trying to find *spoil* in the realm of *spoil*

        • $36487238

hehehehehehe…. I saw what you did there :D

But yeah, this is going to be most epic KH of all time. After that ending in 3D, now it makes me wonder how are they’re going to put all of this story into one game.

        • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Also, it doesn’t sound like they’re doing anything with Kairi after the events of KHII. Will she be on the sidelines again …?

          • Sean ‘Geg’ Reddie

DDD explains that. I’m sure she’ll be doing something in KH3.

          • Wappuli

If it does have more than Sora as a playable character, Kairi sure should be one of those.

          • James Todd

well she does have a keyblade now so she might be training with sora

      • Solomon_Kano

After BBS and KH3D, I can’t see them going back to Sora being the only playable character, so I certainly hope there’s more. Also, Nomura said that they’re considering online features, so I think that indicates there’s at least more than one playable character. Unless the online was being thought of in an entirely different capacity.

    • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

I remember they did mention online features. So if your thought is right about having 3 playable characters you could have 3 people playing at the same time. Possible co-op mode (o.o )

      • Solomon_Kano

        That would be so amazing.

        • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

It really would. Crossing my fingers for the possibility haha. Hopefully not that link you game to facebook thing (>_< )

    • Steven Higgins

“Party of three” likely refers to the main party of Sora Donald and Goofy that has been present in both numbered titles as well as CoM, while “you’ll also have different NPCs join the battle in other world” likely refers to world-specific party members also as present in the aforementioned titles. If you look at the trailer, you can see Donald’s and Goofy’s health bars even thought the models themselves are absent. I wouldn’t get my hopes up for another game with 3 playable characters, although I also think that’s how it should be. I hope Kairi is at least a world-specific party member because I’m tired of her just being used as a plot device.

  • Vesperion

“However, looking at the current development status, I think we may have announced it a little too early.”

I think we know what that means

    • Ferrick

      KH versus ? XD

    • Shady Shariest

*Insert every single piece of dramatic music here*

    • $36487238

Definitely not coming next year. We still have Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD! :-D

      • Jonas Sampaio Santiago

Hope KH 2.5 HD comes to PS3 =D

    • Sardorim

      No, oh gods no….

    • Brandon001

      i dont

    • Sergio Briceño

That we will likely get KH2.5HD and KHBBSv2 before this game? Oh forgot the part when this becomes KH5 by E3 2020.

      Jokes aside…

“We call these visuals the ‘Kingdom Shader’… The shader will adjust according to each world, so Disney’s worlds will have their own fitting visuals.”

Was the best part of the article.

      • Never

I like how everyone’s acting like that’s actually a joke.
It’s so cute how trusting you can be at the drop of a hat.

        • Pyrofrost

Or perhaps they know that they have been fucking up and they are tired of kissing their money goodbye; which is why they’ve come out at this E3 swinging.
Have you seen SE’s stock chart over the past 5 years, it looks something like this:

        • Vesperion

It’s all good. I like the games Square can make for me, and they love to take my money.

          We use each other!

      • http://blackstar2661.deviantart.com/ SilverSpades

KHBBSv2 was scrapped because a lot of the ideas and plot points were thrown in KH3D.

Best part of the article to me was

“Kingdom Hearts III features a party of three, but you’ll also have different NPCs join the battle in other worlds, and the action is pretty flashy.”

THANK GOD. I loved teaming up with Auron, Hercules… and I loved the duo attacks in KH2, which never transferred to the later released titles.

      • Leafia133

KHBBSv2 will never happen. Whatever V2 was it got changed into DDD.

  • Lubulos

They are being developed on PC? Good. If these will be released on PC too, like MGSV, I can totally avoid next-gen consoles and not support invasive DRM and paid online.

  • Shady Shariest

Disney has a Japan show? :/

  • roydgriffin

I’m curious about the Kingdom shader he mentioned.
Will Classic Disney worlds look like they were handdrawn?
Will Pixar worlds (if featured, but I’d assume it’s safe to say they will be) look like computer animated movies?
Will live action worlds look… like real people?
    We will see.

    • Sean ‘Geg’ Reddie

Well that’s what they’re aiming for. Hopefully its true.

  • Detrimont

Still think the shading of the buildings and the buildings of TT themselves dont match the new graphic style, but that’s just my opinion, feel free to disagree with me

    • http://momentsreprieve.com/index/ Aushria

That was an FMV meant to represent the gameplay and how it will look in motion. It’s highly doubtful that they put a lot of effort into the visuals of Twilight Town since the highlight of the trailer was meant to be the opening scene and the ‘combat’ portion.

  • XypherCode

Didn’t Sora fail the Mark of Mastery Exam in KH3D? So (according here) he’s a Keyblade Master?

    • Randy Marsh

Yes he did fail, but for all we know some time has passed between DDD and III, so maybe Sora passed the test during that time.

      • XypherCode

        Well that makes sense. :)

    • $36487238

Yeah he did fail (because of Riku… play 3D if you wanna know why and I agree why he did fail… ) but maybe the Keyblade Master term just refers to him as the guy who can wield a Keyblade very well, not really THE Keyblade Master.

But Randy makes a good point… if the Keyblade Master term is true, then years have definitely passed between DDD and III.

      • Shady Shariest

Isn’t it more than obvious, since Sora has been said to have “Grown up”?

        • $36487238

You might be right, but we’ll just see how the story goes in the months and years to come.

          • Shady Shariest

Yup. And couldn’t be happier to stick around :D

        • Ferrick

he grows up… by turning into Full CGI XD

          • Shady Shariest

I just wish that adult Sora will need to put a XIII cloak on… It will be EXACTLY like in that one commercial picture.

            Continuity, ho!

          • Ferrick

i dunno, i kinda wish that he gets a keyblade warrior armor of his own

heck, even riku has his own armor already

          • Shady Shariest

I know what you are thinking, i know what we all are thinking…

But even in the armor, he would still wear weirdy-shorts o_O’

          • Ferrick

            and clown shoes….

          • Shady Shariest

Hmh…I wonder…If he gets the armor…And goes to the Pridelands…

          • Shady Shariest

It is funny, because at times his face even had a white-ish glow to it, at the very least in KH II :P
Just add a red nose, and hey presto:
“This is why we can’t have nice things”

          • Shady Shariest

I just wish that Sora will need to put on a Org.XIII cloak…

Then it will be exactly like in that one promo picture from KH II’s times :3

      • XypherCode

I’ve played it. Just wondering since he’s being referred as a Keyblade Master now. :)

        • $36487238

I see. Yeah, guess you make a point.

We’ll just see what Nomura’s got cooked up for the KH3 story. :) If Sora is indeed a Keyblade Master, he’s got some new cool abilities then!

  • Gilgamesh2025

I wouldn’t mind having some FFXV characters in KH3. ^^

  • http://momentsreprieve.com/index/ Aushria

Unless he plans on going back on his promise of one Kingdom hearts title a year….we’re looking at 2.5 in 2014, and KH3 in 2015. People need to remember that it is being developed on PC and ported to Xbox one and PS4.

There was also a lingering report from IGN that light work on the title began in 2009 when Versus went on hiatus. The sheer fact that he promises we’ll be seeing it frequently throughout the rest of the year implies that the game’s progress is coming along nicely.

Anyone who seriously thinks this will be the Versus XIII of the PS4 is silly, paranoid, and quite possibly stupid. Square is trying to regain our trust and support, not dash it to the ground and crush our dreams.

Plus…Osaka team cranked out titles in less than two years, each with quality that exceeded the previous. They know what they are doing.

Also, with increasing reports of developers saying PS4 and Xbox One games take less time to develop than PS3 and 360—that they’ve actually knocked numerous years OFF of development time?

It’s pretty obvious that we’re looking at two high quality, long awaited JRPGs that will more than likely be released within the next three years. I know it may be a -joke- to refer to Kingdom Hearts III as the next Versus, but it quite honestly isn’t and it won’t be.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Shown too early?! Not this again! /s

In all seriousness, it looked good for such an early build and I expect it to get much better as the years move on (BTW I don’t think we’ll see this released until 2015 at the earliest).

I hope they’re able to get closer to Pixar graphics in the final build, I mean even Knack looks like it could be a Pixar movie. But I’m more excited by the potential worlds they could include, especially from the Pixar side of Disney.

I’m predicting we’ll see KH2.5 Remix at TGS, with a release date of Spring/Summer 2014. And hopefully we’ll get some sort of answer about Birth by Sleep Vol.2. I don’t think that’s been answered yet.

    • http://momentsreprieve.com/index/ Aushria

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Volume 2 was cancelled after Nomura decided there was ‘no need for it’ within the current continuity. He claims that the story exists, but the time is not right for it to be told.

His wording implies that events meant to further the plot post-KH3 will be included within Volume 2; which makes sense. It all began with Birth by Sleep, so why not have the saga after KH3 begin with Vol. 2?

      …Just my two cents.

      • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Was Vol. 2 supposed to take place after KHIII? That’s weird. It seemed to me that it would run slightly before the big climax that will be KHIII in order to bring all of Keybladers together. If it was cancelled, that’s disappointing. =(

        • Steven Higgins

It was supposed to take place in the year following BbS, when Ansem SoD unleashed the Heartless, the worlds began falling into darkness and Mickey went searching for the Kingdom Key D. It was actually implied in the secret ending to Re:Coded that Mickey knows where Aqua is but is unable to help her right now. That being said, the fact that it seemed to take place in the Realm of Darkness means it may be able to connect more the the next story then the current one depending on the events of the game.

  • Guilherme Matheus Silva

Sooo it may be released for PC, eh? GREAT! *o*

    • Samuel Giam

Yeah I hope so since Kingdom Hearts III uses DirectX 11 than an updated Crystal Tools game engine I’ll be happy to use the Palit GeForce GTX 650 Ti card I’ve keeping for originally Max Payne 3 but I’m keeping it further for KH III if it’s getting announced for the PC.

      • Guilherme Matheus Silva

I should buy a better computer so… I am barely running Remember Me…

  • Sardorim

Bet they already have three mini-plots in the game that involve Kairi getting captured and Sora having to save her as she says “Sora~…..”.

  • Göran Isacson

I’ve read somewhere that Nomura was asked if new fans will be able to easily understand this game without playing the previous games, and his only response was nervous laughter and a “not very likely” sort of answer. Aww, but I can’t hate on it- all the games have built up this huuuuge messy bundle of plotlines and tricksy turns, and I for one am excited to see them all come together and end… question is if I’ll be as excited for when the series kicks off with a new storyline, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

In one other interview he also received a question if he could include playable Mickey in KH3 to which he replied that he really do want to make Sora the main hero of the main games, but he would take it under consideration. Me, I think I’d like to see KH 2.5 have a new side-game in which you get to play Mickey’s side of the story, the things he did between games that we don’t get to see. Because while Nomura has said that is a story he wants to tell, I think he’s also said that it’s not something he can dedicate a game to right now, so I’d be happy with just a little bonus story to show us SOMETHING of His Majesty. Maybe we’ll be controlling Riku and Mickey in KH3 in a “Another Side Another Story” esque way?

Also, Kairi. Please to be letting Kairi feature in this game and actually do stuff beyond getting kidnapped. Please Nomura. Begging you here man. Maybe she can join in on one of those “NPC’s joining in the battle beyond the main party” fights? Heck, I’m kinda excited just htinking of how they can HOPEFULLY actually make the KH worlds as vivid and full of people as they SHOULD be now that they’ve got the PS4′s power to play around with.

    • Brandon001

Kairi needs to be a party member for gods sakes

      • Göran Isacson

Agreed. Girl’s been sitting on the sidelines for so long it’s almost embarrassing for the writers that they can’t do much else with her but make her a damsel in distress. I just want there to be a balance between Sora, Riku and Kairi- so much of the games feel like it’s ALL Sora and Riku with a dash of Kairi on the side.

  • Grape Monet

I sincerely hope that they don’t spend too much money on this game, and on XV as well. It’s easy to forget this but people aren’t as willing to spend hundreds of dollars on new game consoles and games as they once were. While I have no doubt that these two games will sell over a million copies each, easily, I don’t know if they can make a profit off them. Square-Enix have already lost money; I’d like these games to help them recover from that.

I also hope that these two games outsell every game Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamics, and IO Interactive have made for them, so it can be proven to them once and for all that gamers all over the world still love JRPGs.

    • Anime10121

Thats why they’re releasing multiplatform, to help them make the most profit ;P

I honestly dont think either title would have been able to recover costs as PS4 exclusives. There literally is no way that they would have made enough on one platform. Regardless of how “little” people say XIII sold on 360, it was still an addition to the sales it made on PS3, and therefore, completely worth it. Though I personally am getting a PS4, I’m happy to have these release on Xbone, if that means the games have better chances at success.

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

“I think we may have announced it a little too early.”

    …Damn it

    • ShadowDivz

From the creators of “WHERE THE HELL IS VERSUS”
      comes a new hit comedy.
“WHEN IS KH3 COMING OUT!” coming soon to a theater near you.

  • Akuosa

Nomura called them “spin-off titles”. Judging by previous reactions to that wording here, there should be riots!

  • YoshEE

I hope he will do the demo version lol.

  • Brion Valkerion

Glad he said they have something at least playable at the offices, even if its just prealpha, gives the KH fans something more than, it was just a video “ya know”

Im sure KH3 was in development for the longest time, like Versus was, the one thing people need to understand is that they didn’t know what engine to put it on. XIII series runs on Crystal tools(in which they developed specifically for FNC), Versus was initially designed to run on a evolved version of that engine around 2008-11, however it’s kinda obvious that when Square got early dev kits they started work on a new engine completely.

This is the main reason why it takes so damn long for a new FF to come out, these guys invest a considerable amount of time developing new engines for their games. KH3 more or less has been on the shelf along with XV however now that Square had to show something, it’s really one of those better late than never….however we can’t expect a release date until next E3 or TGS at the earliest for either one of these games. With that said…gotta wait till Feb for LR:XIII.

I’m guessing MAYBE a release date at TGS for FFXV, though its not likely, as LR will still not be available in Japan yet, I’m thinking more Jump Fest is when Japan’ll get its release date, E3 for the west. I think it’ll release next fall/winter, as it actually seems pretty far along this time.

  • Kevin Schwarz

Probably going to take like four years to release it. Sad.

    • Anime10121

Honestly though, if you look at the trailer, you can tell its alpha footage level, this looks (completion wise) FAR earlier than LR:FFXIII did when it’s first trailer was released, and that game was reusing some assets. This is a brand new title for next gen consoles where everything is being built from the ground up.

      I expect a 2015-2016 release myself.

I have lost all respect for this man in calling the other games “spin-offs”. Completely contradicts everything he has been feeding us up until now. And then he claims he may have announced this game to early. After all this time and apparently force feeding us “Spin-offs”. he still can’t get himself together.

    “Party of three”

    Sora, Riku, Kairi?

Aerial combat was my favorite thing about KH2′s upgraded battle system. It made the game slightly too easy, so I hope they’re able to balance that out this time, but to hear that you ‘never have to touch the ground’ is really exciting to me. FFXV looks to have similar aerial battles, so both of these games are sounding really fun already. Fingers crossed for Square to follow through on this.

Disney’s ‘D23 Expo Japan’ event in October

I have NEVER heard of this until now.

    • Anime10121

The only reason I know of the show is because of KH3D’s appearance their in previous years ;P

I did not think the graphics looked very next gen. I know they go for the cartoony look and all but ratchet and clank crack in time and tales of xillia 2 look better than what we saw. I hope that part improves.

TGS is going to be really good this year. I’m real excited for this one. Most excited for a next gen Gundam game.

  • Kevi Johnson-el

soo…2015/2016 release? Anyways I’m hype to play FF14 and FF15

  • Leafia133

I hope they go the BBS route and let you play as Sora, Riku and Kairi

  • Ducked

Its pretty clear that 2.5 HD remix collection will come out next year after teased in 1.5 HD credits. Fall 2015 looks like a release date, but who knows it could be 2016. I know Square said that Dream Drop Distance dives into Kingdom Hearts III. But, I wouldn’t mind one more spin off to clear a few more things up if it doesn’t come out until 2016.

  • isotrex

    Hmmm… See you in 2015? 2016? nope? okay. :(

  • Justin Merithew

I wish Square would release non-mmo titles on PC. KH and Final Fantasy are really the only games that are pressuring me into getting a console, and they could very realistically have PC releases too :-. I wouldn’t even mind if there was barely any keyboard/mouse support, I’d totally use a controller if I had to. It’s still better than getting a console for a 3rd party developer’s games.

    • Samuel Giam

I think Kingdom Hearts III if announced for PC will get full keyboard/mouse support along with controller support because Square Enix develop KH III and Final Fantasy XV using PCs so keyboard/mouse support will be of no problem to Square Enix.

Just what defualt keyboard control layout they use along with the common W, A, S and D keys will be a mystery to us since Square Enix themselves only have plans to release KH III and FF XV on PS4 and Xbox One.
