Get Ready For A Vehicle Combat RPG, Metal Max 4: Moonlight Diva Is Coming

By Spencer . June 18, 2013 . 12:24am

metalmaxMetal Max is essentially a Mad Max role playing game with vehicle combat. The series takes place in a post apocalyptic world with an open ended gameplay and combat dogs before Call of Duty Ghost made them a meme.

Famitsu announced Metal Max 4: Moonlight Diva for Nintendo 3DS. The game will be released in Japan this fall and will have downloadable content. Kadokawa Games which started publishing Metal Max games with Metal Max 3 will handle Metal Max 4.

None of the main Metal Max games have been localized so we’ve missed out on customizing tanks and fighting sentient bulldozers. However, Atlus localized Metal Saga which was a spiritual successor from Success Corporation.

I loved Metal Saga on the PS2. I played it earlier in the year, it’s a shame we never got anymore in either series.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

I wish we’d get this, but Metal Saga didn’t do very good here :(

    • Slayven19

Metal saga didn’t but I’m sure that has no barring on this game.

      • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

We didn’t get Metal Max 3…

        • Bigabu Beaze

Lets Positive Thinking! Maybe Atlus will bring it out.

        • Exkaiser

          Or Reloaded 2.

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Ted Broiler with his ruby red lips, that would’ve been hot.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Considering that none of Metal Max series ever come here and it’s spiritual successor Metal Saga never did well here, i would suggest wanting to play this game just straight import them.

    • Slayven19

Naw that doesn’t mean anything because nintendo wants almost all the games on their system in the west. Look at how many Fire Emblem games we missed in the west and still we did get metal saga on ps2 in the west.

    • Solomon_Kano

Not that importing is really an option here lol. It’s possible we could see it picked up.

  • Slayven19

Yes the series lives on on handheld to boot. I’m very confident that we’ll see this one in the west thanks to new nintendo helping other publishers or just releasing games themselves.

Kadokawa are still in the business of publishing videogames?
Somebody should ask them about Rodea, that game by Yuji Naka they’ve been sitting on for a year or two…

    • Solomon_Kano

I wanted Rodea so bad. If it ever sees release, I wonder if they’ll scrap the Wii version…

  • Exkaiser

Metal Max 3 and Reloaded 2 were excellent games, so I’m pretty excited about this! It would be really nice if someone took a risk to localize it, but I’m not banking on it.

I’m hoping they stick with sprites (The SNES and DS games all had fantastic spritework), but if it’s less stiff than Metal Saga it should be fine.

…On the other hand, Metal Saga DS had ugly sprites. Didn’t work to their strengths.

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Saga PS2, while enjoyable and creative, really felt like a step back from Metal Max Reloaded on SFC.

Kadokawa published Killer Is Dead…XSEED release here, maybe?
