Here’s A Preview Of Shin Megami Tensei IV’s Meaty Design Book

By Ishaan . June 26, 2013 . 11:20am

As previously detailed, all first print copies of Shin Megami Tensei IV in North America will come with a 176-page Strategy & Design Book, as well as a music collection. This morning, Atlus USA provided a preview of what the Design Book will look like:

(Note that the preview may not work in Google Chrome. The problem might be related to the Silverlight plugin, which appears to have trouble working on the Chrome browser. Try using Internet Explorer instead, if you see a message that says, “Sorry, this publication is not available”.)

Shin Megami Tensei IV will be available in North America on July 16th. The game is headed to Europe sometime in the near future as well.

  • I hope we, in Europe, get this too.

    • Jisgsaw

      Not likely.
At this point, I just hope we get the GAME this year…

    • Farid Belkacemi

Buy this, sell the game, keep DAT book & soundtrack :D

      • Ferofax

You’d have to sell at lower than half-price then.

  • HerokÔÖ×

Very nice glad I preordered, still wish we were getting the eb games preorder but I am happy with the gamestop armor so its all good

  • Cruxis

Is this the book that will be coming for free with the first print of the game?

    • Zeik56

      • Cruxis

Wow, this is even much better than I expected. Totally justifies the $50 price point IMO.

        • AuraGuyChris

Uh, I think the reason why the price is high is because of the “free” book.

          • Zeik56

It’s not the only reason, but it’s part of the reason.

          • Tom_Phoenix

Actually, I suspect that Atlus USA raised the price in order to cover the costs of dubbing SMT IV’s rather extensive voiceover.

The First Print edition with the book and soundtrack could simply be their way of “sweetening the pot” in order to justify the price in the eyes of consumers as well as encourage them to buy at launch.

        • malek86

Well, it depends on whether non-first print copies will be lowered down in price or not.

  • > preview may not work in Google Chrome

Using Chrome AND Ubuntu — no problem with the preview.

    • Ferofax

Chrome and Windows 7, preview working as well.

  • This has been up for a while just saying.

  • Solomon_Kano

    Fucking shit, it’s 176 pages!?

Real pity that I won’t have the cash to get it immediately. Hopefully I can catch it while it’s still in its first print though.

  • SilentMC

I got the preorder artbook that came with the JP version, and there’s only like 14 pages in that (with the 2 CDs of course).

Almost alll the images above are actually from that artbook (save for the DLC page), how the heck are they gonna extend it by 162 pages?

    • Nightmare637

maybe they turned it into a bare bones walkthrough.

    • 324234

Look at the table of contents. It’s more of a guide than an artbook by the looks of it.

  • Rytan

And now I am super happy I paid off my preorder just in the nick of time.

  • 324234

Never played an SMT game before and was put off by the $10 price bump. But I managed to place a preorder in at Newegg for $42 with free shipping! $2 for those extras: score.

  • ragingmerifes

    Amazing art…
But it is made in Flash, meh.

  • SlickRoach

Wow, this is awesome! I’d pay close to $100 for this but luckily it’s only $50. Can’t wait to sink my teeth into this game, but Etrian Odyssey 4 and MH3U will have to be put on hold for a while though.

Ah, I need the full book. Looks really cool. I love these kinds of things.
