PS One Inspired RPG Soul Saga Headed To Wii U, PlayStation 4 And Vita

By Ishaan . June 28, 2013 . 2:00pm

Soul Saga, an in-development indie JRPG inspired by the RPGs of the PlayStation One days, is headed to the Wii U, the game’s developer has announced.

Soul Saga has crossed its Kickstarter stretch goal of $80,000 that will ensure its release on the platform, and this goal now also includes PlayStation 4 and Vita versions, so it’s headed to both those platforms as well.

In addition to the above three platforms, Soul Saga will also be released on PC, Mac and Linux as originally intended. You can learn more about the game on its Kickstarter page.

  • Altin

Big Boss clearly salutes to this.

    • X_Bacon

Never saw him as an RPG kind of guy tbh

      • Lighting Tyro

I’m sure he’s fired a few at some point, at least.

        • X_Bacon

…I see what you did there.

    • of course how else did he get his mad skillz

  • Solomon_Kano

Sounds good. Now the question is what system to get it for…

    • Anime10121

I recommend PS4 and/or Wii U. Getting it for PS4 already enables the Vita version because of Remote play!

      • Solomon_Kano

Ah, you’re right! I forgot all about Remote Play. And I was leaning towards the Vita version anyway, so that definitely makes more sense lol.

        • sherimae1324

congrats kano-chan ur a mod now eh
anyway there is also another kickstarter game project sweat also comes to wii u ps4 and vita its an rpg but 2d

          • Solomon_Kano

Wow, I’m glad you mentioned that Kickstarter. I hadn’t heard of it, but it looks awesome. The spritework reminds me of King of Fighters. Huh. Well, I certainly hope they can meet all of their goals.

  • ronin4life

Looks cool… kind of reminds me of Evolution…
I need to finish that game…

  • Rudy Soto

    What the fu-
They got Todd Haberkorn for this?

Usually these Kickstarter projects get some talented, yet vague voice actor/ress that most people probably never heard about.

    • Anime10121

Exactly, the Voice Actors were the biggest surprise on the page for me! Cant believe they got official VA’s for this indie game :D

Now to wonder how much of the game is actually gonna be voiced.

  • darryl scott

Lol I can see hate for the xbrick one already

    • Rudy Soto

Microsoft consoles aren’t exactly known for JRPGs, so I think it’s less about the hate, and more to appealing to the old Nintendo&Sony console players.

    • MikelAL93

Xbox One’s shitty Indie game rules and regulations didn’t surprise me for this game too.

Glad its hitting PS4 and Wii U instead. :)

  • pimpalicious

I might support this, thinking about it.

  • Bigabu Beaze

Thats so cool! Elise looks alot like Roll from Mega Man Legends! I’ll definitely buy it.

    • Anime10121

That or Winry from Full Metal Alchemist :P

  • TheExile285

went to kickstarter page and this looks pretty good.

    my vita is ready

  • ragingmerifes

Wii U, Vita, PS4 AND Linux? I love these guys already.

    • artemisthemp

PS4/Vita part was what grab my attention :)

  • Göran Isacson

Even more Kickstarters that I cannot wait to support. my WiiU will be well-stocked when all these games actually get developed!

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I’m going to wait until he posts the prototype of basic combat vid before I’ll put down on this. Looks cool though.

  • I see he likes Breath of Fire.
    I see Ershin.

  • Learii

    no ps3?

    • JohnSmith

PS3 is such an old console.

  • Hikaru Lighthalzen

    looks amazing on vita

  • puchinri

I was really glad to see it hit the stretch goals and plan on getting it on Wii U myself~. Hoping it gets to the later goals too, especially the guild ones. >u<

    I also hope that A Hat in Time makes it to the Wii U. ;u;

    • Anime10121

Depending on when this releases (and how good it is), I may end up getting this on both Wii U and PS4!

      • puchinri

Haha, yeah, good point. I’m considering that now~.

        • Anime10121

So far, it LOOKS like its hitting all the right buttons, and it may turn out fantastic! You have no idea how much I want a new psone style jrpg (it was my favorite console generation in terms of jrpgs)! Hoping for the best, and that this game turns out as awesome as I hope it’ll be :D

          • puchinri

With the stretch goals it’s hitting, I have great expectations for it too! Same~.

    • Elvick

      I want A Hat in Time on PS4 so bad. ;_;

Backed it for PC though. Looks so damn good.

      • puchinri

        I feel the same way about that as I do Soul Saga. It’s really cool for it to be on the Wii U and I’m glad, but it does make more sense for it to be on the PS consoles. With AHiT, not making it to Wii U would be a shame, but it’d be really nice to see it on all consoles~. ;u;

I’m so excited for both games. I just don’t even have the words. >u<

  • Shady Shariest

    Also on Greenlight!
Edit: And on the Greenlight-page they also said that they are going to slim down heads a bit, guud :3

  • I backed for all of the versions. PS4/Vita, Wii U, and PC.

I dunno if I’ll ever exactly be able to play all of them, but hey, $35 for three/four versions is alright to me, especially if they have any Gamepad specific features as a result.

It’s nice to see more Kickstarter games trying to get onto those consoles though. It helps the indie scene on them a ton, and I have no regrets supporting such ventures.

  • Isaac Newton

    This game looks nice :D

  • Raze

I see They are talking about Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Suikoden, and Persona….

Now I wonder what element they will take from Suikoden and Persona to this game…A hundred+ allies?Castle build?War?Branching Story?Ultimate Bosses?Weak advantage?

  • Daniel Williams

now that the vita is included, I will throw down money on this
