Danganronpa And Demon Gaze Coming To North America

By Ishaan . July 6, 2013 . 4:51pm

NIS America have licensed Danganronpa and Demon Gaze for release in North America, the publisher announced at a panel at Anime Expo this evening.

Danganronpa, a visual novel adventure, will be released under the title Trigger Happy Havoc: Danganronpa, and one should point out that this announcement is only for the first game—it doesn’t include the sequel. Trigger Happy Havoc will be released in early 2014 for the PlayStation Vita.

Meanwhile, Demon Gaze, a Vita dungeon-crawler, has no release timeframe.

Holy ****, this is great news! I was losing hope for Demon Gaze.

I will give Danganropa shot just to support NISA. We need that Neptunia Rebirth next.

    • Renaldi Saputra

and by these, Vita won’t be insulted anymore..

      • TheExile285

I wish that was true but you are being naive :(

I just learned to stop caring since I love my Vita.

        • Renaldi Saputra

me too.. I just hope I won’t regret for buying Vita

          • Daru Titor

Off to see if it’s available for Preorder
            EDIT: Not yet

    • supervamp

we need to make sure we get the bundled package of the first and second game

  • Spirate

The shocking thing is that it’s being released by NISA instead of Aksys, who have a very good relationship with Spike Chunsoft. Either way, it’s been a really good few days for VN fans.

EDIT: Should also note that NISA won’t be using the fan-translation, which is a shame, since it’s supposedly very good.

    • TheExile285

Maybe Akrys is busy with that PS3/PSV VN from the BB devs

      • X_Bacon

    • I will admit, I’m surprised NISA picked this up, too, but on the other hand, I’m happy. I generally enjoy NISA’s localization choices and I’m looking forward to what they do with the game.

The fan translation is stellar, but there are definitely some choices for terms that they picked that I am against. I’m personally wondering what Funimation’s/NISA’s choices will be for some of them, really.

      • Rytan

NISA is still sticking with Super Duper, though.

        • Where’s your source? According to the press release that was seen, it looks like they’re actually going with “Ultimate”.

http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29417265/danganronpa-trigger-happy-havoc–coming-to-naeu-early-2014 – Here’s where I found the press release, and given how the official site is still not uploaded, I dunno where you got the idea that they’re sticking with “Super Duper”, unless if you accidentally saw a picture of the fantranslation?

          • Rytan

Huh. Now that you mention it, I probably saw an article about the announcement with the fan translation screenshot. Makes sense.

          • Yeah, that’s probably likely there. Sites are probably using the fantranslation as their headers.

Far as I know, there’s no official screenshots yet. Hopefully something will appear soon enough from them.

          • Margaret Chan

People are also likely thinking of it like that since NISA used “Monokuma” in there, which is what I remember PZ’s fantranslation to have.

Either that or thinking of the fansubs that went out for the animation’s first episode. I noticed they used the titles and such from the fantranslation.

          • Apparently sites have been switching back and forth between Monokuma and Monobear, so at this point it’s really as much preference of site to what information people get, but the fact that “ultimate” is clearly used in terms of the summary gives more weight that it might be the route they go for– which I’m fine with, since ultimate’s a decent word in place of super, ect..

Yeah, I don’t really buy the fansubs as the best source for things, since they’re rather evidently just using the most recent thing for a basis. I think SA themselves were gonna make their own translation patch too basing off of the translation oren (guy who did the LP) did, with massive editing, so fans are probably. The worst place to go to for what the terms actually are.

I’m waiting for Funimation’s official subs to go up, since that’ll most likely be closest to what the game itself will use, give or take some differences.

          • Margaret Chan

Well what I mean is that NISA’s press release actually uses “Monokuma” in it. I’m sure a few people followed orenronen’s LP or are using terms from the various Wikis around that use his terms (SHSL, etc) which explains the usage of Monobear by some sites’ use.

            I actually perfectly fine with the term “ultimate”… I don’t think I’d have any issues with title translations or what not so long as it’s not something like Ultimate Highschool Enthusiast. @[email protected];

          • Ultimate’s a fine term! The people I talk to agree that ultimate’s a good alternative.

I think really my major issues with translation vary from Super Duper to “Renaissance Man”.

          • Margaret Chan

I actually didn’t think Super Duper was bad; I know people think it’s either silly or lame but I always views DR as something that’s pretty silly when you discount the serious fact people die…

“Renaissance Man”/others were made to “Scion” unless you’re referring to something else?

          • Super Duper feels… Awkward. Like something a little kid would think up to call themselves, I guess is the way to put it, for me. I know it’s a refuge in audacity thing, and I know it’s a split opinion (especially between that group and SA themselves), but given the context of at least Hope’s Peak Academy itself, and given how much of the “silliness” is due to Monobear/kuma’s presence and twisting of things, I felt SHSL at least felt more appropriate to a professional term. But I know that both terms are really due to the preference of the ones translating. It’s why I wish that NISA/Funimation would put something up.

I really hope it was, all I know is I saw pictures of the fantranslation going around and I leaned back a little bit at Renaissance Man. Scion works much better, definitely.

          • Margaret Chan

I can see where you’re going with it about it being the titles bestowed upon by the school so it wouldn’t be as silly. Though I have to admit that the aspect of Hope’s Peak Academy has always been silly enough for me that I thought it was perfectly reasonable for the School to have come up with the term too.

I can confirm that PZ used Scion with my bare hands and eyes and a patched iso dump of my import.

          • Well it’s all really fridge logic in itself, just if I had to pick between the two popular terms, I’d go with SHSL over Super Duper.

Huh, I guess someone might’ve put up like the demo version of it for that, my mistake. Glad they changed that though, cause I know they did do Renaissance Man at least at one point.

    • William Hsia

it would be if it wasn’t for the fact that on the other hand, aksys is doing a compile heart game

      • xXDGFXx

So NISA and Aksys decided to switch duties for a while?

  • benhofb

AAAAAHHHHH! SOMEONE HOLD ME! ((So this IS 1-2 Reload, Right? RIGHT?!?)

    • Spirate

Yes, it’s Reload, but only the first game. The second game won’t be included.

      • benhofb

Huh?! That is really weird… And kinda a missed opportunity in my opinion. Considering how DR was already released as a fan-thing and SDR2 has yet to seen any type of translation aside from the LP, this it kinda surprising…

        • doubleO7

They want to make sure it’ll sell before they spend the money to translate 2 whole games. Its disappointing, but it kinda makes sense. But obviously if the first sells well, they’ll bring over the second.

  • I find it odd that they wouldn’t add the sequel, but I don’t mind that, I’M JUST SO HAPPY!!! Hopefully my luck will kick in and it’ll be released on my birthday ehehe.

    • TheExile285

My guess is they want to test the waters and see if its worth the effort. I’m surprised it gets localized at all.

      • That was a thought I had too! I’m surprised they even decided to do it. I bet it was more because it’s getting ported to Vita rather than it becoming an anime.

        • れいか

Isn’t Reload 1 and 2 all-together? I don’t think they can separate the two… Or this is just me wishful thinking o.o?

          • Reload in Japan is 1+2, Trigger Happy Havoc is the same thing, except it only includes Game 1.

It would be nice if it were Reload and then 2 were added via DLC. It doesn’t make any sense, but hey, I dream big :D

          • れいか

Ohhh… I totally skipped the “Trigger Happy Havoc” in the article, I was too excited. :3 But never the less, I shall support this! Here’s to hoping we get part 2 as well : D

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Vita is alive and Im loving it, So excite for Dangaronpa, naegi and ishimaru want. Day 1 easily. Hope it has good dub vas.

  • bdp

So close yet so far. I’ll just wait until the 2nd game gets translated if ever.

  • Margaret Chan

I’m not even upset that it’s only the first game, even after i just imported DR PSP the Best. I dumped the iso, patched it, and have been having such great fun. I will be purchasing this day 1. I’ll buy multiples for my friends who have a Vita if i have to to get them to play/ get NISA the sales.

A little surprising that Aksys didn’t announce it but maybe NISA saw the warning signs of the Danron hype and jumped at the chance to get it. I don’t think Aksys has the ability to beat out NISA just yet for titles wanted.

Now… I kinda hope they don’t do away with the japanese audio but I won’t be upset, I DO have the PSP UMD to listen to.

NISA for Super Duper Publisher Hopester.

  • Highasthesky

Why am i not surprised? NIS does it again.

  • Raze

    I almost got a heart attack…

    Nice NISA

  • Zoozbuh

Wait… Vita? I thought the first game was on PSP :'( Oh well, I guess the fan-translation will be done at some point for people who don’t own a Vita (or is it done already? not sure…)

    • Spirate

It is; both the original and its sequel are being re-released on Vita in Japan later this year.

      • British_Otaku

So a Senran Kagura Burst/White Knight Chronicles 2 sort of deal… Good to see that the Vita has a large line up for me to sink my teeth into when I get one.

    • Margaret Chan

Project Zetsubou released one a couple of weeks ago. It’s of a quality that I thought was exceptional, fine with the localization choices.

      • Zoozbuh

I’ve been playing it and up to Chapter 3 now– the translation is AMAZING. It might as well be an official release, everything is perfect so far. Bless those fan-translators <3

  • Guest

    i need a vita now

  • Detrimont

Great news, seeing as the anime just started
though now i need to get a vita

  • Doctor Nebula

All those years of waiting has finally paid off *wipes tears*

  • evilmoogle

Hope they don’t over price the first dangan ronpa…
I mean, in Japan you can get the first and second game Reloaded for like 50 dollars.
And from what i understand is, the western version is the first game reloaded.

Btw, not surprised that NIS is picking dangan ronpa. Bet they will license the anime as well.

    • Zendervai

      Funimation has the anime already.

    • Detrimont

      funimation has already licensed it

  • Carlos Daniel Flores Loreto

Im glad about this, but I really really hope NISA doesnt go overboard with their “funny bone”. I disliked their work with the Ateliers and Neptunias.

  • Selcca

Ohhhh baby. 8 hours of shiv-ing simulator 2013 (the last of us) followed by announcements of Xillia 2, Dangan Ronpa AND Demon Gaze made this a perfect day.

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

*Spits out soda* Damn…now that’s the best news today!

    • Testsubject909

Purchasing the game that excites you should do enough.

  • Raltrios

Demon Gaze? Finally, one of the four titles that would guarantee my purchase of a Vita upon localization (the others being God Eater 2, Tales of Hearts, and Neptunia remake)!

Danganronpa is just icing on the delicious cake.

    • Want God Eater 2 as well. Namco or D3 should get on that.

      • TheExile285

Namco localizing a Vita game? Haha, that’s a funny one.

All hope is on D3 publisher.

        • Solomon_Kano

Yea, pending a drastic change of heart, D3’s the only way we’re getting that. And I hope they bring it. I mean, they brought us EDF on Vita, after all, so I’d certainly hope they’re up to GE2.

  • I’m really glad about this! Demon Gaze itself sounds pretty neat and I’ll be getting that, but Dangan Ronpa is the surprise of AX.

Hoping for NISA to do an English voice track, I’d like to see what they do for it. They tend to be pretty good in that area (localization too).

  • Brandonmkii

Already finished the PSP version of DG1 but I’ll grab it again for the vita just because it’s great.

  • Anonymous

So, Since NIS Is localizing them, Are any of them good?

    • AkuLord3

idk why don’t you do some research and find out :L

    • TheExile285

Demon Gaze is a 1st person dungeon RPG that looks very good IMO. The other game is a Visual Novel that VN fans having been wanting for awhile. I suggests you research them via YouTube.

      • Ex_Vorgier

Spoilers: Demon Gaze is not very good.

        • TheExile285

          • Ex_Vorgier

I’m sure you do. But it guess it requires the attention span of a goldfish to be found “good”. Take a generic dungeon crawl with the most basic of basic combat systems, slap on a stupid story with forgettable characters and you have Demon Gaze.

          • RoxasTheUnknown1

But that’s all entirely subjective. Some people really do enjoy bare bones basic combat. I can’t speak for the plot and surely someones gonna love main character guy. xD

I meant stateside and EU but thats pretty solid for Japan considering they had the original.

        • landlock

  • Elvick

    Demon Gaze! Wooooo~ So happy.

    Hope they release it physically.

  • psycho_bandaid

Is Trigger Happy Havoc the PSP version or the Vita version? The article says it’s for Vita, but then also stresses that it’s only the first game. I was tracking that the Vita version included both games though.

I’ll buy it anyway, but I’m confused as to what exactly I’m buying!

Demon Gaze is also very welcome news. Hopefully we get retail releases–my Vita memory card is not worthy and I am not buying another one.

    • Aerii

It’s the Vita version with the second game cut out. And it makes sense, as they can’t translate both Danganronpa games in such a small time frame.

      • psycho_bandaid

Ah, ok. Good news all around then. Hopefully its either a retail release or at the very least a small enough file to get on my memory card.

        • Detrimont

well, the original psp version was just over 1 gig, but we dont know how much is going to be improved/changed, but it’ll probably be either that or a bit less, with how they can compress file sizes now, but no promises

      • supervamp

That doesn’t make any sense since the vita version isn’t even out yet

        • TheExile285

It does make sense. They aren’t releasing this next week.

Valhalla Knights 3 was announced for localization months before it actually got released in Japan too.

          • supervamp

Yes but unless you can show me some kind of special relationship between spike and nis that said spike would specifically give them a part of the updated danganronpa for localization, then it’ll be more believable.
Especially since that is a bundle and is still underway, vk 3 may have been announced to come over before it’s released but a xseed is a branch of marvelous usa and b its a stand alone title that can be easily transfered over.

          • SirRichard

Actually, it’s not unbelievable at all. Spike Chunsoft have, for a good while now, released English press releases of their games even though for the most part the titles never leave Japan. They’ve been proactive about trying to find Western publishers to bring their stuff over, ever since 999 and VLR.

Given this, and that we’re talking two text-heavy visual novels, it is no surprise at all that they’re accommodating NISA and only giving them the one for now. I’ve no doubt that Spike would push for the second to be released as well.

          • supervamp

I still need to see some source on this to actually believe it’s nothing more then the psp version being released on psn

          • SirRichard

For the English press releases, Siliconera covered it here: http://www.siliconera.com/2013/04/04/niche-japanese-publisher-trying-to-drum-up-interest/

Search along those lines for the Conception games, for example, and you’ll find it reported and discussed across the web. Spike have been doing this since 2010 when DR first hit, according to that article there.

For a source on which version, everywhere that’s reported on this has said that it’s the Vita version, straight from NISA themselves. Chopping a bundle in half isn’t exactly a lot of work, mate.

          • supervamp

No they’ve only said it would be released on the vita not that it’s the vita version

          • SirRichard

No, they’ve been very clear that it’s the Vita update from the Reload bundle Japan’s getting, with sites like IGN and ANN straight up saying as much. There’s no confusion here, it’s the Vita version. I’m not sure why you find the concept of splitting a bundle of two text-heavy games up to be so improbable.

    • It’s also cool to keep in mind the Vita version of THH:DR isn’t a direct port. It’s got a lovely HD makeover, along with some tweaks and whatnot. I hate using this phrase, but I’d personally call it the “definitive version.”

  • Renaldi Saputra

Let’s please not determine everyone interested in playing this game has already gone out and pirated it. We also can do without the ‘if you needed the translation’ nonsense.

The tent under which these games are played might be small, but it is a bit larger than that to which you allude.

      • Nightmare637

you don’t need to pirate the game to use a fan translation.

        • Mr_SP

But it is strongly implied. I would be very surprised if even as much as half of the number of people who have read the fan translation have purchased a copy of the game. If nothing else, the official translated release will garner more sales than the unofficial one.

          • Nightmare637

implied or not you don’t need to, and I don’t think its right to make that jump just because someone used the patch.
some would even find it insulting, anyway I’m glad this is getting an official release and hope it sells well.(hopefully if it sells well we’ll get the second one.)

          • M’iau M’iaut

Recognized, but in another thread the original poster detailed 3 sets of folks who in their opinion, would be the only ones interested in titles with existing fan translations, only one of whom are those who bought a legit overseas copy. There ‘most likely’ folks were those who pirated and had no interest in an official translated version. For the record I long ago ordered Remember 11 from J-List and got the unofficial official patch also available through them. So yes, I do know that possibility does exist.

It must be remembered that all of these announcements are not just targeting the existing fan base. But also those who have caught wind of the VN medium by playing various hybrids. They are not the types to have long since pulled a cracked version of a game off a server or even ordered them from a legit importer.

          • Zharkiel

Actually, DR magically became a top seller on play asia right after the patch was released. Those who were going to pirate the game pirated it, those who wanted to show support did so, and going by the top seller announcement on PA, I’d say a good number of people bought it.

    • Nightmare637

nah pretty happy day actually. :)

    • ChiffonCake

Or maybe, you know, people liked the game after playing the translation, and wanted to support the developers? And being able to do so without having to import the game is really great?

    • Duc PC-QB

Yup, you have new game for localization and you still call it a sad day.

If ppl cared enough to take advantage and play it then they will consider buying the official game. And ppl call Demon Gaze has ridiculous design with retarded story because its has too high user review score.

      Sound about right.

  • Monterossa

NISA is the savior of jRPGs this gen.

    • Go2hell66

      • DyLaN

lol NO. Unless they start localizing more of their titles I wouldn’t call them savior yet.

        • Go2hell66

as far as i’m concerned the only rpg series thats had a decent showing this gen is tales, every other series just did crappy ports or skipped this gen entirely

          • DyLaN

Then don’t spoil other ppl fun plz. You might not concern abt those JRPG, but others do.

          • Go2hell66

i never said NIS games were bad, heck i have a shelf full of them, i just wouldn’t call them the saviours of RPGs or put them on the same level as SMT or Tales games

          • DyLaN

I assume the context of Monterossa is NISA localizing those JRPGs tht no 1 wants to localize.

          • Go2hell66

ah i see, might have misread his post, but even if we’re just talking localisations i’d say namco and atlus still take it

        • Ladius

This could have been true three years ago, but since then they’ve made a complete turn around.

Tales of Graces f, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, Ni no Kuni, Time and Eternity (with NISA), Project X Zone, Tales of Xillia, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles and the newly announced Tales of Xillia 2 can prove the point quite nicely.

          • DyLaN

Call me delusional, but I want those game base on anime not named Naruto/One Piece and the Digimon Adventure/R:D game…. But good point.

  • Wafflenaut

Demon Gaze and Etrian odyssey Untold; the year of Dungeon Crawlers grows stronger!

  • Wait… I thought the vita version danganronpa will be 2 in 1? As in 2 danganronpa game in one vita cartridge?

Anyway I definitely going to get demon gaze! I hope it’s not a download only title!

    • Mr_SP

It is, but they’re only releasing the first game in the west for now. Second game might come later.

  • Piercingty

I wonder how badly NISA will censor them.

    • DyLaN

Ppl still won’t live Mugen Soul down eh >_>

      • Piercingty

I will if they can manage to redeem themselves with these two games,
By A.no censorship and B. they’re not loaded with internet memes in place of actual jokes.

        • DyLaN

          A) Oh c’mon it only happens in MS and the only thing censored is a bathing mini game (I think).

          B) Wht if the jokes are untranslatable/ppl might not get it in its original language and they have to edit it to make it work?

          • Piercingty

Reworking the joke to make it work in another language is totally fine and needed in some cases, but what I said was “Little to no internet memes”, using internet memes for too many jokes just shows that you’re not funny and pretty uncreative.

  • Sentsuizan_93

And i just started watching Danganronpa recently… Damn this is a good weekend for visual novels being localized.

  • ChromeH34rts

    *Sheds manly tears*
Ohhh, I never thought I would see the day!! The fan translated version I played was never complete and reading through IF only made my desperation increase!
I was already happy with Danganronpa but Demon Gaze as well?? Man this is great!!!
This has gotta be a great year for the Vita. Shame that the my wallet isn’t going to be taking it well.

    • Juan Pablo Fernandez

i recently played the fantranslation and it was complete, they are starting with the second one

about this, well good news! i hope it sells well here

      • Actually, according to their twitter, they’re still discussing whether to go forward with SDR2, and they probably will not figure that out until they see the sales figures for DR1 over here (which won’t be until 2014), but the current version of DR1 they released is their final version. No further editing or changes they planned on due to not wanting to step on NISA’s toes.

  • Huh, I thought Europe was also confirmed for a release for both these games? At least that’s what I read from the ANN article that Jesse linked on OT last night….

  • artemisthemp

Hopefully NISA store won’t have a super Pre order bonus as those 2 titles most likely will have DLC AKA I need to get EU version.

    • Brandonmkii

There’s no DLC for Danganronpa. Not sure about Demon Gaze though.

      • artemisthemp

        Awesome :)

  • Go2hell66

well watched a bit of the anime and it just didn’t do it for me.
unless this game is amazing or something i’m probably gonna skip it
also suprised demon gaze isn’t a $10 digital download, i imagine this is gonna be a hard sale for NIS

    • transferstudentx

trust me its an amazing game the anime suck but the game doesn’t its one of my favorite games of all times

      • DyLaN

Sure, let judge the anime is bad just by the first episode where we are still in the prologue and haven’t get to the real meat yet. There a reason 3 episode rule exist…..

Also, its a little bit rushed, but so far so good. Its pretty faithful to the game so far…..

        • British_Otaku

3 episode rule? I understand the basis of it, I don’t watch everything I start to the end (though I want to), but it still sounds like a completely arbitrary number to me.

I’ve found plenty of adaptations which have shit hit the fan after Episode 3 (Detective Conan – The first 100 episodes to a manga reader…, may have cleaned up now) or perhaps removed arcs, conflicts and thrown in a conclusion which makes no sense by power scaling and more (Soul Eater’s anime).

    • SupaPhly

no really, the game is AMAZING. It’s like phoenix wright on crack
The first episode of the anime was a little rushed, because they have to fit the entire thing into 12/13 episodes.

    • The anime is rushed, when they show Naegi’s room in the anime for the first time, there is this little item that weren’t supposed to there (yet), but yet it’s there, after seeing that I just know they will skip a lot of thing, and they did.

      • DyLaN

Wht item? (PS I read the whole LP of the 1st game ady so don’t wry abt spoilers)

        • Well… MAJOR SPOILERS (I think)

The golden katana, in the game Naegi brought it to his room after Sayaka told him to, but in the anime if you watch closely when naegi awake and looking around his room, the katana is already there. Not to mention, they skip the part where Sayaka told Naegi how important her idols friends is to her and she’s done a lot of things to become an idol before watching the video, thus leading to the first case

      • British_Otaku

I haven’t played the game or watched the anime, but I can agree that choosing whether to try the game based on a sample of an anime adaptation can be as silly as using The Legend of Zelda cartoons to decide whether you want to play the Zelda franchise.

The mediums are different and there is always the chance of a poor/odd adaptation or one which is targeted towards older fans. Now, manga to anime adaptations like Death Note are fairly 1:1 making it easy to say whether you would like one or the other. Even the long runners like Naruto and such can still have issues just from filler and slowdown among other things.

  • JMaster3000

Would it hurt to type that it comes to Europe too?

  • SirRichard

And my imported copy of Danganronpa arrived just last week and everything!

Tales of Xillia 2, Steins;Gate, Holy Sorcery Story and now Danganronpa and Demon Gaze. Been a hell of a weekend for localisation announcements, eh?

    • Ladius

Yeah, and Cartagra and Kara no Shoujo 2, too. It has been an awesome weekend indeed.

  • Ståle Laastad

    Demon Gaze!!

  • SupaPhly

  • Crazy_O

Demon Gaze! Yes! I wanted that game since I saw the first trailer, can’t wait. Finally more food for my Vita :)

  • YES! YES!! YES!!! >_<

  • Mirai

This would of been great news for me If this was announced a few months ago, however I already played the game with a fan translation and this isn’t the kind of game you’d play through twice. Still I might get it just to support the franchise.

  • new_tradition

Can someone spoil me? Does the first game end conclusively? I actually have no idea what the series is about xD

    • DyLaN

      No. Its rather open ended.

You can try the anime of it to see if its to your liking.

  • Amagidyne

(please let this mean it’s coming to the EU, please let this mean it’s coming to the Eu, PLEASE.)

  • Göran Isacson

Awww yes. AAAAAWWW YISSS. Don’t even care if I gotta import man, I’ll do it. I will obtain this sucker no matter what. TO ENJOY THIS DELICIOUS DESPAIR IS MY PRIME DIRECTIVE.

  • I’m watching the anime, and I wonder if it will destroy all enjoyment from the game, spoiling everything :3

    • DyLaN

Its a given tht the Social Link aspect will be altered in the anime. Also you can enjoy playing the School Trial mini-game.

It really depends on how the anime plays out. But Kishi/Uezu confirmed tht there won’t be original story in it.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

They done goofed bringing over only Dangan Ronpa 1. It JUST got fan translated to completion.

    • ReidHershel

They are localizing it for the Vita, and the only version for the Vita is Dangan Ronpa reload which are remakes of the 1st 2, so we’ll see.

      • FitzpatrickPhillips

Yeah I know. Which makes me wonder why they only did one of them. I’m positive they’ll bring over 2 but that just means the wait is longer for new content. Bah.

        • SirRichard

Well, two text-heavy games back to back might be a bit of a tall order for them. In addition to the time and resources needed (considering the other stuff they’re juggling right now), they’re also not sure how good the sales will be, so odds are they’re taking one now just to be cautious.

  • Mordina

Yay! Danganronpa! <3 Awesome to see it get an english release :) Fun game!

  • Magnumsally

Both of these games are very very good. Nisa sent special people a form with possible localization choices a while back and demon gaze was on that. I just totally forgot.

  • Warboss Aohd

well………dis woz not wot i woz expectin’ ta see after comin’ home from a Waaagh.

  • Kelohmello

With the anime having started airing recently, I was playing the two Danganronpa games. I REALLY loved the first one, great game, interesting story, absolutely brilliant cast of unique and lovable characters. Just finished the first game today, was going to start the second, but I wonder if it might be better to wait for this Vita version.

Demon Gaze was also on my watch list, so that’s probably a day 1 buy.

  • I’m curious if FUNimation will work with NISA to keep a cohesive feel concerning the characters, naming, etc That’d be a nice tough if so. After celebrating on the 7th, it occurs to me that splitting up the titles was a good idea. It’s an aritifcial means to inflate Vita’s software lineup but more importantly, they can release part 2 when the anime is further along if the sales kick in (please buy the game everyone D= )!

  • Kamakuma

Did… I read that correctly… Demon…Gaze English..? Please someone pinch me I’m crying!

  • Virevolte

I wanted to see the anime but… I want to play the game too. Should I wait for the release ? I don’t want to spoil myself with the anime and find the game too plain after that.
Got an advice for me ?

Edit : I’m talking about Danganronpa.

    • Lemon

I would highly suggest playing the game before watching the anime. Knowing the surprises and answers to some questions beforehand will certainly almost kill all the suspense the game tries to create, since it’s a murder mystery and all. But that’s what I think. Wanting to know truth and answers made me not want to put my PSP down even after several hours and when I do find the truth, even more questions are raised. It’s a fun cycle while it lasted haha.

      • Virevolte

That’s what I was assuming. It’s nice of you to confirm it. I’m gonna put the anime aside for a while then. Thanks.

  • The noise I just made was not human for Dangan Ronpa

  • Pichi

I think I’ll check out Dangaronpa. Looks so wacky and weird that I can’t ignore it.

  • XiaomuArisu

    Thanks NISA!
    EU will get it to,right?

  • KnifeAndFork

OMFG finally NOW I am getting a Vita
