How vague, I wonder if it will test the waters on vita or the other handheld to see how popular it is (like SAO on PSP, etc). Oh well, expecting big things if they can handle the games pacing better than the anime does…

    Jean MUST be playable.

    • Ninastars

I’d rather have the game be it’s own thing instead of following the story really. There’s a lot more potential in something like that.

  • benhofb

I can’t help but imagine a MonHun clone with Attack on Titan… That would be beyond awesome.

    • artfv95

Monster Hunter is awesome, but it’s also kind of slow-paced. From what I’ve seen of the anime, speed is very important, so I hope they go in a different direction. If they allow the player to zoom around with the multi-dimensional maneuver gear it will be a very fun game.

      • Zal_Yagun

        god eater mixed with Otogi

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I’m pretty sure that would be the most logical game genre to go with for this. Though an Attack on Titan rhythm game would be funny.

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I’m pretty sure that would be the most logical game genre to go with for this. Though an Attack on Titan rhythm game would be funny.

    • KnifeAndFork

A Malicious or Destruction of Reginliev clone would make more sense

    • Rocsas

I hope they put cinematic battles a la Naruto Ninja Storm or One Piece Pirate Warriors

  • Pedro Tavares

    Omg the Eotonas are coming!!!

  • Sardorim

Mikasa’s abs deserve to be in HD.

    Lookout, Titanfall.

  • Man, I’d be fine if it was just decent. Don’t disappoint me and make the right choices! I want to believe in a world where we get an enjoyable Shingeki no Kyoujin game~!

  • deadMastershiro

Thank goodness it’s not too soon my wallet is on life support.

  • Scarlet_Devil_Slave

Unfortunately this will probably end up being a VN.

    • KnifeAndFork

      That would be disgusting

  • Herok♞

I can see this working as an MMO, where everyone plays as titans or humans .

  • JustThisOne

Prepare to reset a lot. :P

Or actually, it’d be pretty cool to have the game continue after you become an amputee.

  • Cool so what system will it come out on handhelds or consols I am thinking both. oh and I hope the game has celshading why because I think it would look awsome that way.

    • British_Otaku

I get the feeling it is ONLY going to be the PS3, even though every system on the market could have a console experience…

If they do consider portables, Vita and 3DS… >_> It’s not like there are any others, I just don’t want the 3DS left out as I didn’t import for nothing and everyone would be able to play it on the Vita.

  • Aristides

Somehow I feel like we’re not getting a localization of the TBA game T_T I wish anime game licenses weren’t so expensive…

  • Someone kind of made a game already.

    WASD is movement
    Q is left hook
    E is right hook
    Space is both hooks
    LMB is horizontal slash
    LMB + S is a downward slash
C is to change camera mode
    N is salute

    • British_Otaku

I played that for a bit… It’s my first taste of Attack on Titan (aside from word of mouth being so loud about the anime’s deaths, how well the manga is doing and the trailer) and it was surprisingly engaging.

Now I want the game to be challenging wall scaling escapes with a few kills on the side. Perhaps with another protagonist so you can afford to lose characters in a Fire Emblem esque way.

    • BigLord

That was awesome!!! And it looks like it’s just a demo! :D Can’t wait for the full game!

  • Judgephoenix

I’ve been enjoying the manga so far. I’ll take it in any form of game just don’t remove the gore that’s all I ask for :)

  • ragingmerifes

I don’t know if I prefer something more action-oriented like that Web Unity game, but with a DmC feel to it, or a Valkyria Chronicles type, but in the air, and not including characters from the manga, so that the original characters die like in Fire Emblem. Hmmmm…

  • chibiwall

they could do something better than the usual vn

  • rinalicat

Um…I’m not sure of what to make for this; I love Attack on Titan (haven’t watched the anime though) but I’m not sure how the game could work. Especially since there’s a high level of despair already attached to the series (no spoilers, non-readers)…well…the more I think about it now, the more excited I am but…I dunno…it’s complicated…

  • 60hz

love the show – a hunting game would be awesome.

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro
    • mirumu

Feels like it should be “Eating Sasha”. Still, I’d buy it.

    • it’ll be Great …. I can Imagine it since Now…

    • komiko12

It will teach you 101 ways to cook a potato.

  • Carabutifarra

    Shingeki no Kyojin

    • same

      • Altin

Attack on Titan is not a correct translation of Shingeki no Kyojin whatsoever.

進撃 is a suru verb and since there is no suru in the Title, it just stands in its Shûshi-Kei (終止形). The の stands as a particle while 巨人 addresses the subject.
Probably the most fitting/most accurate translation would be: “Advancement/Invasion of Titan(s)”

  • Anime10121

Whatever type of game it will be, I doubt it’ll live up to the insane amount of hype the anime has produced, so therefore, in my mind, it’s already a disappointment (though if it does manage to be awesome, that’d be unbelievably awesome and I’d sell both my livers to play something that manages to capture the epicness of the show itself).

    • RisukuAozora

Let’s just wait before we cast judgment on it. We actually don’t know anything about this game…

      • Anime10121

I know it wont be a big budget game, otherwise it would have been mentioned somewhere other than an oft hand remark by the producer. Trust me when I say I want this to be some awesome console game that has mechanics similar to the anime, but I just dont see it happening.

But as I said before, at least going in with low expectations, I can be surprised if it does somehow manage to surpass them.

  • Just Cause 2 + Shadow of the Colossus can I get a hell yea

    • No, that wouldn’t work

    • tubers

I don’t think they’re investing that much budget into this.

  • TheDarkEmpress

Please for the love of God let it not be:

    On a handheld
    A card game
    A Visual Novel

    • Carabutifarra

Why not a handheld game? I want to see the game on PSVITA or Ps3 (because are the only Free-Region systems), but I prefer a PSVITA game with 4 co-op, online… like a Soul Sacrifice “wannabe” or an ActionRPG Tales of-based.

      • TrevHead

I find handhelds cool for 2D retro games and JRPGs, but a fully fledged action game would be limited on handheld imo.

        • RisukuAozora

I dunno… we’ve seen some great action games on handhelds as of recent, and I’m sure either the 3DS or Vita could handle it as limited as they can be at times.

    • RisukuAozora

I agree with the last two, but seriously, what do you have against handhelds?

    • TrevHead

probably it’ll be all 3 combined.,

  • BigLord

I don’t watch the anime or read the manga, but I bet 90% of the fights in the game will be this:

    • miju

      good call

    • Kitestwinblades

That list of reactions for defeating Hopeless Bosses is HILARIOUS. Makes me think of so many games I’ve played in the past.

“You win this fight, but the boss will be back for a rematch and the plot won’t advance until you lose to it.” <– You have no idea how much this pisses me off, especially when they say something lame afterwards to make you fight them again.

  • Kalis Konig

This needs to be on PS4 or XBone. Only way to do it justice.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      • Kalis Konig

Meh I love my Wii U but I don’t think The Wii-U, PS3, and 360 could handle the ideas I have in my head lol..

  • Crimson_Cloud

I think that Telltale’s The Walking Dead mechanic would work well with this setting. The anime/manga did show fear and despair on various occasions. Of course, people would rather have an action game so…

  • DemonKingAsura

    • RisukuAozora

Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger!

  • Guest

I’m waiting for them to messed it up like 80% of the other anime games.

    • TrevHead

True and it’s a really shame considering how well so many of them would translate to action games.

I guess licensed games are cursed to be bad the world over.

      • DyLaN

The Walking Dead says hi. And those VN anime games like Railgun PSP seems fine too.

        • Kelohmello

Walking Dead is different. Anime tend to run for one season and then merchandise is sold for a profit for a certain number of months following the end of said anime. Something like The Walking Dead is a show that has and will be around alot longer than Shingeki no Kyojin. Also, minor exceptions to the rules are just that, exceptions and nothing else. Most titles are still low budget throw-away games made to sell on popularity.

  • Chow

I’m picturing Shadow of the Colossus mixed with free-roaming Spider-Man sort of gameplay. Some parts, if they follow the regular storyline could be escort quests and/or protecting a stationary object. All-in-all, I see a mixed range of “missions”.

  • Keko

What if it’s a Shadow of the Collosus-esque game, with extra speed and titans?

  • Jesse Torres

I wouldnt know what type of game this would be, but im excited to know.

  • SlickRoach

How good is this anime anyway? I’ve been hearing about a lot so I mostly assume it’s just hype for something new.

    • Lúcio Hernando Dias

From a cult manga to people suspecting is a hyped anime. Life is funny.

      • Symbol de Au

I actually started reading it because of the hype. I want to spoil so much for the people who just watched the anime, but I won’t.

        • ShadowDivz

Good, no1 likes a jerk. Seriously, why did the thought even cross your mind?

          • Symbol de Au

            Because I’m a jerk.

          • ShadowDivz

And that’s why no1 likes you.

  • Kelohmello

This isn’t a VN right? Please let this play like an Action Game where you murder Titans, with some other elements in there to keep it fresh. Please let this be good. Please.

There was a fake picture going around the web of a game called “To you 2000 years in the future” which is the title of the first chapter of the manga I think. But it said FROM SOFTWARE on it. Now obviously it was fake, but I still think that’d probably end up a good game if something like that ended up happening.

  • TrevHead

Unlike alot of modern anime I’m really enjoying this series.

I think this (and Gantz) would make a great Platinum Games action game. Ala Shadows of Colossus on speed

Sadly all it’ll probably amount to is a VN or some text heavy game.

    • Curan_Altea

There are already multiple SnK VN’s announced, so it’d be different.

And there was already a Gantz game for PS2. Not Platinum sadly.

  • Alicemagic

  • Unlimax

Imagine a game like this with Shadow of the Colossus style ~

    BOOM !

  • Abhishek Posooa

If there’s character creation and open world(for the city at least),this may be the best game based on an anime *q*

  • Gilgamesh2025

♫ “Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die Jäger!” ♫

  • ShadowDivz

Personally i hope it will have an original story. That way it won’t be like the naruto franchise(every game only going a chapter after the last).

Plus, that way it doesn’t spoil anything and it can have character creation. Lastly, platinum games, because…well obvious.

That’s what my ideal Attack On titans game would be. Also, on PS4 or XOne. Because it’s totally deserving of a next gen console.
