OMG did anyone see ono’s announcement speech i couldn’t stop laughing

    • AnimusVox

He had an announcement speech for this? :/

      • Go2hell66

yup it had to be the most hilarious announcement speech i’ve ever heard

        • Kevadu

          It wasn’t *that* funny…

    • ShinStar

I couldn’t understand a word he was saying lol.

      • artemisthemp

He said: Here is another version of the game.
Haha it’s actually a part of the game, we selling for $15 now instead of including it from the start :)

        • Thomaz Barros

What? No, this doesn’t make sense.
It’s not like this is content locked on the disc, or they decided to not use on the original game. This is clearly models created, 2-3 years after the release of the original game for another game, and a new character entirely.
While i’m not feeling the hype over it, it’s really, really dumb to go all “HURR CRAPCOM, IT SHOULD BEEN THERE FROM THE START”

    • Brion Valkerion

yeah he gets way to excited when talking to crowds. Which is good though, just not when he tries to talk without his translator.

    • Shane Guidaboni

He’s crazy, but in a funny way.

    • ffboi7

I love when Ono tries to speak in English to the fans! Its friggin awesome that hes trying to hard to communicate with the American audience.

    • Ty Austin

haven’t seen that image in a few years, would be kinda cool if she was a character.

    • CartmanKusanagi

Close, but no dice, my friend. Here’s the real 5th character:

    • whatinthewolrd

      I actually would want that….

  • Cyberdri Adriano

    Asura 5th character

    • Vesperion

I hear Asura, and Bad box art Mega man were already deconfirmed by Ono on twitter

      • KingGunblader

Bahahaha that’s funny that people were thinking of Bad Box Art Mega Man. I doubt even Capcom would troll that hard twice in a row.

    • Haggar?

  • AuraGuyChris

*Sees Capcom Sequel Stagnation in play*
    Dammit, Capcom!

  • Ethan_Twain

I have nothing against another update to SF IV, and I love the notion of getting new characters. What’s not so cool is that four of the five are going to be adaptations of SF X Tekken characters. So these are moves and models I’ve seen before. A lot of the enthusiasm for new characters wanes because of that.

And the fifth character is still a secret, but word on the street is that it may be a crossover character? So I may have seen him/her before too :(

    • CptPokerface

True, but look at it this way. There are combos and strategies that work in Sfxt that do not work in 4, and vice versa. Not to mention they’ll now have a super and two ultras to choose from. I’m confident that it will feel different enough for people.

      • Canceris

Exactly. Even if aestheticly there is no difference in these 4, the meta game in those two games is different, changing the characters overall.

Heck, even characters balancement may change them enough to make them feel new. But let’s not jump on conclusions, well see if this update refresh the series.

    • HappyOnion

i feel you. at a base level, they’ll SEEM identical, but sf and sfxt are surprisingly different, mechanically and fundamentally (not sure how much this adds to my point, but even the engine is different). the aesthetics may be identical, but the properties and all too important details make all the difference between the transition.

    • Ty Austin

We went into this thinking it was only going to be balance changes, the extra characters is just icing on the cake.

    • Jonathan Tse

5th character is said to have never been in a Street Fighter game. so who knows. Asura seems like an obvious choice, but i hope not. and for the xT character’s they’ll be different simply because of how different SF4 is from xT. the moves from xT for the most part were from previous SF titles anyway, so it’s not entirely surprising.

I DO hope they add a third ultra though, that would be insane #3rdstrike

    • MrJechgo

Here’s the thing though: SFxT didn’t please every SSFIVAE12 player. Some players even still play SFxT JUST to play as Hugo, Elena, Poison and Rolento… because they can’t do so in AE. So porting the characters into USFIV (thank God for a better acronym) is a pretty great deal to interest players to play one of the most popular games, if not THE most popular fighting game.

On a sidenote… all 4 characters seem to have new moves and will have a new super and a new 2nd ultra.
As for the 5h character, Ono already deconfirmed BBA Mega Man and Asura’s Wrath’s Asura… but Rival Schools Batsu and Final Fight Haggar could still make it, just like God Hand Gene and Remember Me Nilin could make it ^_^

  • KingGunblader

    Lol. “Ultra”. Oh, Capcom.

Joke’s on you, I got Super Street Fighter IV free through PS Plus anyway

    • DriftSlave

Jokes on you for thinking that you 1up’ed Capcom…..*smh*

      • KingGunblader

I KNOW. Just… let me have this one.

  • Highasthesky

Hugo’s fighting and working in the background, ok…..

    • ffboi7

It could be like the the Small Airfield stage. When Balrog is selected he gets replaced by Vega.. If both are selected then Sagat takes their place.

      • Highasthesky

I thought that could be the case too, but if you look at the trailer Hugo is in the background whiles he’s on screen fighting in a match.

        • samael789

Could it be a different Andore?

        • DriftSlave

as they trailer implied that it is a work in progress…think if they port the halfpipe stage from SFxT…and you play either Twin…there will be some odd paradox right? So I think they will fix obvious stuff like that on the finished product. Even I have faith in them not being that lazy :/

        • ffboi7

it could also be that its a different Hugo. Since in Final Fight there are many Hugos not just one Hugo. So the Hugo we get to play could be different from the Hugo in the background.

  • Vesperion

Looking forward to these new characters more then Arcade Edition’s. There is just so much more diversity

  • Guest

So, when’s Ultra Super Mega Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2015?

    • ffboi7

It’ll be coming late next year just to because you asked ;p

  • Nero

Capcom loves milking Street Fighter IV don’t they? Instead of working on 5.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

      Apparently fans requested for this.

      • Haseyo

Precisely. High level play has a tremendous influence in fighting games, and if fans want to keep IV with updates (which in Japan they do) then update it and add some more characters opposed to making everyone shift to a new fighting formula. It has nothing to do with “milking.” Enough of the Capcom rehash hate train, many other companies do this as well.

        • Brion Valkerion

This. They would not do it if there are people asking for it, which you can see clearly in the opening of the trailer lol. Haters gonna hate.

        • Ninastars

This is why consoles need a better update model for games like this. It just feels so strange that you have to buy an all new game just to get a balanced, updated experience of the same game.

          • GuyAlpha

There’s a digital version of the update for $15 dollars.

          • Ninastars

Still it’s still pretty much a paid update and if you don’t have Arcade Edition already you’ll likely end up buying the actual game again out of convenience.

          • GuyAlpha

Are you saying it should be free?

    • Updating IV doesn’t prevent a separate team from working on V.

    • ffboi7

Would you prefer a yearly release of SF like how COD is? Full retail price with very little change to the gameplay and cosmetic changes.

      • Guest

No, I’d actually prefer a different game in the series already. But, I’m clearly a “hater” according to some of the responses I’ve gotten.

        • DriftSlave

Then don’t play and or buy any SFIV updates then…simple as that. Capcom is obviously not appealing to you.

    • Street Fighters III and IV each came out nearly a decade after the previous numbered installment. Why would you expect to see Street Fighter V in less than at least another 2 or 3 years?

  • DriftSlave

    Xian is won Grand Finals….godlike.

    • Vesperion

Xian worked hard all year. He totally deserved his win

  • Just Tim

I hope they’d finally balance the Hong Kong Trio of Yun, Yang, and Fei Long for once, via frame increases.

  • Tonton Ramos

5th character will be Batsu or Haggar or maybe “This is my destiny” guy

    • MrJechgo

Ono already deconfirmed both BBA Mega Man and Asura… but Batsu and Haggar are still possible additions :)

    • Armane

I’d like to see Haggar, but as Ono has said in the past, Zangief stole all his moves.

I’d be happy with Batsu. But I fear it will be someone to build hype for Darkstalkers.

  • Shinigami__san

and One never finish to tell who was the 5th character . . . i feel trolled

  • Monterossa

Oh god… now we can’t wait for the “upgraded” version of CAPCOM games because they’re going to release an upgraded upgraded upgraded edition.

  • Altin

I wonder how long it’s going to take until we hear of SUPER ULTRA Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition

    • Cellsai

Probably in about 5 seconds when the next person makes that same joke.

      • Altin

Someone had to break the ice first ;)

  • Masa

    Ultra now…..keep on milking!
In 6 months, SF IV Ultimate.

    • Cellsai

      How exactly is it milking?

      Honest question.

    • AverageGamers

Actually, in 6 months its Ultra… in another year, perhaps and Ultimate will come haha

      • MrJechgo

Pretty sure they’ll move on to next gen after Ultra…

  • Jezzy

Haha, you can see Hugo still in the background of that xT stage while another Hugo fights Fuerte.

  • Tincho Kudos

    Guy or Haggar please

  • XiaomuArisu

So….they recycled the characters from SFxT?

  • AverageGamers

I won’t complain… though I wonder why they take so much time to release it. 5 months from now? o_O Why not like the end of the year?
Oh and not complaining about the new characters, but will we ever see a game with a complete complete rooster of the SF cast (with Alex, Sean, Q, Twelve, Remy or the ones from SF1) and all? I’d be dying to get one of those.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

  • dragoon_slayer12

Eh. Would be perfect as a portable (sfiv3d dlc anyone). Could never get into IV since I lost my taste for fighters round IV’s original release (for some reason. Used to be an avid lover of the genre)

    • British_Otaku

I would like em to just release a USFIV3D (and hey, why not Vit- Zoidberg too?) on a physical cartridge in general. Given how poor the track record, some companies have for maintaining feature in multiple console versions even between the 360 and PS3 versions of Street Fighter X Tekken and it extends further with DLC.

I want the right to get the game for a fiver if it doesn’t look good or I wait long enough. >_>

If you want to play some good fighters and like being on the go with your 3DS, perhaps you should try out BlazBlue, it brought my interest back to the genre, though the Vita’s Continuum Shift Extend (also on consoles) is a bigger title than Continuum Shift 2 (3DS, PSP, consoles through CS DLC).

      • dragoon_slayer12

I keep holding out on BlazBlue cuz everything it comes close to releasea new version grgets announced, and I want to get the definitive version, now the “1st edition”. I had SFIV3D, but got rid of it cuz I had nobody to play online. If it was available for download, I’d get it again (if USFIV3D was to release, I’d get it day one). I have no fighters on the 3ds (got rid of DoA cuz I completed it 100% in 3 days and nobody to fight against), but I haveUMVC3 and MK9 on tthe Vita (MK for story, which is why I’m hoping Injustice comes to the Vita) and UMVC3 to play against my friends and family online (I don’t like playing online with strangers. I like personal competition.).

        • British_Otaku

I see. If SSFIV3D’s online community died that quickly (well relative to the console versions, it isn’t a surprise) despite selling well over a million copies and fast.

Perhaps it’s for the best if you stick to playing most fighters on consoles, that’s where the players are at even if it is split between Xbox and PlayStation more or less.

I was going to say that BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 on the 3DS was a very good starting off point for me, but it seems you value competition and online more than me.

I would recommend Continuum Shift Extend (consoles and Vita) as it is basically the first Continuum Shift and the first BlazBlue, since the initial title (Calamity Trigger) to be complete in the way that DOA5U will be. It has all of the characters and stories. It has online play (only missing on CS2 on the PSP and 3DS I believe). It has a remastered version of the story mode from the original Calamity Trigger and more. It’s the definitive edition of BlazBlue by a mile.

It’s the best place to start and you can choose to wait and see whether Chronoplantasma gets multiple versions in the meantime. Chronoplantasma may add modes and characters and story, but if there is a Chronoplantasma Extend (physical only of course), at least you will be busy with something else.

  • Here we go again

  • qchto

i’m fine with sfiv still being supported and updated as well… but why capcom? why you release an update of a 4 year-old game as a physical copy (a fourth time!) but a new ace attorney just digital!?

    • Brandonmkii

Because one will make tons of profit, the other, they’re not so sure of.

  • AndyLC

“Street Fighter minus Tekken” was how one of my friends put it.

  • Gilgamesh2025

    Want SFV. ^^

  • Antixono

At least the box art looks good.

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

We need the Major of America, Mike Haggar!

  • If anybody saw their DLC costumes, I wonder if every one else will be Soul Calibur-fied.

  • DCBlackbird

I don’t think I’ll live long enough to see the 7th installment of this franchise

  • Rafael Budzinski

…two years before the last (paid) new game/upgrade, from a highly competitive series that NEEDS frequent changes, and people are complaining? Really?

  • Theofratus ‘Geese’ Lester

    And Knuckles.

Wait, I have a question. Is Poison a girl or trangendered. This has always confused me with the whole “Poison is transgendered” thing. Not that I really care anyways, just something that came to mind.
