Shin Megami Tensei? No, This Is Devil Maker: Tokyo

By Ishaan . July 15, 2013 . 12:50pm

Over the years, Shin Megami Tensei has inspired its fair share of games, either thematically or otherwise, and Devil Maker: Tokyo appears to be one of them.

Devil Maker Tokyo is a card battle RPG for iOS and Android devices. The game takes place in Tokyo in the near future, and an eternal night has engulfed the city. Devils, both good and bad, have begun to appear and co-exist alongside humans. The good devils are fighting to make the evil ones like them, but they need a human to find each bad devil’s contract and help convert them.

Devil Maker: Tokyo has over 500 cards, with “devils” like Saraswati, Hades, Amaterasu, Barbatos, Tengu, Gryphon and more. You fight with a deck of six cards, and can merge and evolve your cards, transfer skills, and more. You can find some of the devils in the game below and more on this page:

Japan. The only country where you sell a game with artworks alone.

    • serverny

Except that this is Korean game.

      • Sergio Briceño

        Make that 2 countries.

        • Duo Maxwell

Haven’t heard of China, I guess?

          • Sergio Briceño

I fear that if I start acknowledging more countries in this manner they will all end up being asian, so I hope we can leave them at 3. XD

          • Odin

You know being Asian is hard right? There are so many misconceptions people have of us. For the last time, just as “anime” and “manga” (manhwa, manhua, etc) are not art styles in themselves, the style should be referred to as “East Asian”, not what most westerners coin the term as.

And Japan is certainly not the only country that utilizes it. The 3 big ones all use it extensively, and I’m sure there are others in Asia who have adopted it as well, so it’s a misnomer.

          • Sergio Briceño

Great. So we can leave them at 3 after all.

  • I’ve been playing the game for a little while now, and trust me when I say its the best card game for mobile devices at the moment.

    • Pedro Furtado

Care to share why? Maybe drawing a comparison with Puzzle and Dragons

      • I’ve never played Puzzle and Dragons so I can’t compare it to that, but I’ve played other games such as Rage Of Bahamut, Monster Crusade, Dragon Summoner, etc.

Unlike most other games Devil Maker allows you to get good cards without having to spend money. For example, in the game every time you complete a stage you fight a Boss at the end. If you beat that Boss you have a good chance of obtaining the Boss that you fought, and they are usually really good cards. Another good feature of the game is that there is no trading in the game. This may sound odd that I’m calling this a good thing, but it means that there will be no inflation, and insane prices for cards because people are greedy.

In the end it’s just my opinion, but I think they did a really good job on this one.

        • Pedro Furtado

          Thanks! I’ll consider playing it!

          Search Palmple. It’s on now.

          • Nameless App 1989

Thanks! I wonder why it didn’t show up simply by searching “Devil Maker?”

  • Luke Blackwood

OH HEAVENS, IS, IS THAT AT 0:13 A- A-A-A-A- A BOY?!?!

  • Sergio Briceño

Personally I would have chosen this pic over one of the lolis for this article.

  • DyLaN

I’d take tht Amaterasu. Tengu is fine too. Not sure how to feel abt Sarasvati multiple arms.

  • Detrian

So on one hand there’s a lot of girls in them cards… But on the other hand this game has production values up the wazoo compared to other card games so in as Detrian.

  • Inspired by Shin Megami Tensei? I dunno… SMT doesn’t shy away from drawing their demons in various flavors of design, ranging from intimidating, cool, creepy to just plain weird. This though…? Seems more like it’s inspired by Monster Monpiece.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

    Moe Tensei?

    • DyLaN

I’d play it. As long as there isn’t a moe Mara.

  • Andrew H.

I have a referral code if anyone is interested. ( Xs ) that’s it ;)

  • Antixono

And how can a devil be good…?
